Star Wars: A New Hope DEVASTATOR EDITION (V.1 RELEASED)
Time

I finally gotten around to properly watching your edit and it’s pretty great! One criticism that I have is about the audio. One that I remember is when the stormtroopers are checking the door that has the droids hiding in it in that alleyway on Mos Eisley you can still hear the Mark IV sentry droid sounds that is present in official special editions. Your edit uses the original scene but not the original audio.

Wow! I’ve been going through all of your pages on this thread checking out the progression, and I’m honestly in shock and awe! This project of yours is going to be amazing. I can’t wait for the release or even more updates.

If you think this edit’s cool you should check Adywan’s edit. it’s the same as this but 100% better, it’s the inspiration for this copycat edit.

Oh! Yeah, his edits are pretty outstanding. I haven’t seen his ANH edit yet but I have seen ESB: revisited, which is great and kind of nuts how much work and effort Adywan puts into it.

If you had to make at least one SE change
Time

if I was in charge with any of the SE trilogy back then and last minute I could make one change that would be “Jedi Rocks” in ROTJ. And I would just put a little more of the original footage back in and combine and remix the best bits of Lapti Nek and Jedi Rocks (I would call it Lapti Nek Rocks 97’’ maybe get it remix by NIN, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, or KMFDM) and even add new scenes along with actual improve puppets, animatronics, and would get Phil Tippett to do some stop motion too. My approach would be less CGI used. So that it blends in a lot better with the original footage. And it would be even more grungy, shady, and sleezy. I want to give a better impression to the audience that Jabba’s Palace is a flat out horrible crime operation palace involved with everything, and a hangout for most vile and corrupt people in the universe. Kind of like you see in mafia movies like in Once Upon Time America or Godfather. I just want make it more scummy and atrocious than Mos Eisley.

Though, nothing too crazy where it makes ROTJ into a rated R movie or something. Anyway, that whole SE musical number so out of place and ridiculously infantile and somewhat ruins the tone of that scene. It gives me second hand embarrassment sometimes.

Plus, I know this isn’t what you’ve asked but you can see the the original Sy Snootles briefly before the musical starts, which is a new continuity error and I’m not a fan of redesign either. I missed the tusk she had and the the feather band on her head too. So, that would be fix. The original puppet totally gone and Sly would have her old design back in CGI form. Another thing, speaking of continuity errors I would fixed is Oola’s eye shadow in the new footage. It should be purple not gold.

ANH 1997 Inspired Regrade with SE Soundmix (Version 2 Released, Version 3 W.I.P.)
Time

Those technical difficulties you had sound like a total pounding headache. Regardless, I hope everything works out for you with the rest your project. This is definitely looking pretty awesome judging from the updates that you’ve posted so far.

I’m definitely looking for to it! Along with another two films too. Though I understand those are going be awhile from now. Still I can’t wait!

Favorite OT Color Grade (Official Releases)
Time

When it comes to my personal favorite color grades, first for ANH I like the theatrical technicolor grade the most. It just seems the most suited grade for that film. Although, the 97 grade is pretty close too.

And for ESB I actually really like and prefer the GOUT colors for that one. I feel the fair and bright looking colors compliments the locations and sets within the film pretty well such as Hoth and Cloud City. Even though it seems anymore that a lot of people aren’t really a fan the GOUT grades nowadays. Idk, it seems that way to me at least.

Anyway and finally, for the ROTJ grade I like the SE 97 grade the best. I think it does really improve the overall look of that film than compare to previous grades for ROTJ which always seems off to me due the inconsistencies and oddities of those grades, especially the original theatrical grade.
