Star Wars: The Proxy Edits - Prequel Fanedits by Proxy Holodroid
Time

The Proxy Edits were created by Proxy Holodroid, and as far as I can tell were first released in late 2017.

The most notable changes are that the Trade Federation and Jar Jar are redubbed with new voices with rewritten dialogue to alter their characterisations. Dooku has a GREEN LIGHTSABER as he is no longer a Sith. ‘The Dark Lord Sidious’ does not appear in Episodes I or II. Palpatine is of course present.

These edits are as I acquired them, .MP4 files with H264 Video and AAC Stereo Audio. The movies are 7.03GB, 7.91GB and 8.58GB respectively. MD5 Checksums are included for file validation.

Here is the trailer for the trilogy by Proxy Holodroid:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfY3iyn0DRc

Below is a cutlist which I’ve approximated from a post by blogger ‘The Toy Box’.
More detail on his website:
https://thetoybox1138.blogspot.com/2017/12/star-wars-proxy-edits.html

Episode I - 1hr 40m:

  • The Neomoidians/Trade Federation have been redubbed with new alien voices and rewritten dialogue. They are more competent and confident, making stronger bad guys that are no longer simple pawns for Darth Sidious.

  • Jar Jar has a lot of silly humour removed. He is now a smuggler type and an opportunist. His motive for helping Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are thus clearer. This is again achieved through rewritten dialogue and a redubbed alien voice.

  • Young Anakin’s more childish moments are removed to make him more mature and seem different than many other kids.

  • Pod race is streamlined for better pacing and to reduce the role of the commentators.

  • “Dark Lord Sidious” is absent from the film, which does impact the clarity of Maul’s motivation for involvement in the plot.

Episode II - 1hr 59m:

  • Continued change to Jar Jar as above.

  • Obi-Wan doesn’t need to ask Yoda for help when looking for Kamino.

  • Adjusted Anakin and Padme interactions to be less cringey.

  • Geonosian arena is a gathering for a trial, holding The Republic accountable for war crimes. They sentence their operatives (Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme) to death, rather than their execution just being a spectacle.

  • Still no mention of Darth Sidious, therefore Count Dooku isn’t a Sith. He has a green lightsaber and is a political idealist who is for the Separatist movement against The Republic.

  • Jango Fett is killed off-screen, Boba still find his helmet.

  • No R2-D2 or C-3PO in the Geonosian arena battle.

  • On reveal of the Death Star plans, it is stated to be a weapon conceived by The Republic. Positioning them as the enemy who are on their way to becoming The Empire.

Episode III - 2hr 03m:

This cut is light on edits.

  • Dooku still has a green lightsaber.

  • Yoda no longer refers to Anakin as Darth Vader.

  • The twins are born but not named on screen.

  • Luke goes to Owen and Beru but we don’t see where Leia goes.

  • Never see Anakin enter the suit and become Darth Vader.

  • Padme still has her funeral.

This is not my edit but these edits have become rather unavailable for the past 4 years as all previous public links have died. Proxy Holodroid no longer replies to comments on his Youtube trailer either. They did not have a thread here that I can find and are not listed on IFDB either. So, after asking here, I decided to make this post to preserve these edits, so they can be sought once again.

Please remember that you should only request them if you have already purchased the prequel trilogy.

I came across the Proxy Edits for Star Wars Prequels years ago, I have never seen them mentioned on this site or on the IFDB site. Are they generally obscure? I see they are not on this list either

I kind of remember them - yet for some reason they don’t seem to have a thread on here (that I can recall). A pity as they looked intriguing edits… with a unique and novel approach. 👍

The Proxy Edits trailer was pretty decent too: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfY3iyn0DRc

This site had a good write-up for them : http://thetoybox1138.blogspot.com/2017/12/star-wars-proxy-edits.html

^ the download links provided in both the trailer and above site do NOT work - and haven’t for some years.

Hopefully someone one here may still have a copy somewhere that they’re willing to share - and certainly feel free to create a thread for the Proxy Edits if you think it may help achieve that. Good luck with it. 👍

I have all three but was originally considering deleting them as the cutlist doesn’t match what I look for in prequel edits. I agree they seem quite unique though, and learning that their availability is so scarce, I think I shall make a thread for them so people can PM to get a copy.

<em>Kenobi: Trials Of The Master</em> - Fanedit by PixelJoker95

I check in on this once a week, and it looks like we have some unfortunate news from PixelJoker95’s YouTube Channel. He wrote:

I usually refrain from posting bad news, but it’s really a terrible time for me right now.

I was in the middle of recording a tutorial for a new-ish type of VFX I’m doing for TOTM when the rack that holds my hard drives fell to the floor, along with the drives, of course.

Out of 8 HDDs, 2 of the most important ones no longer work—the one with all my personal data (including all of the family photos and early works), and the one with half of the TOTM reshoots, sounds, and source footage.

Luckily, the disk with the Premiere and Nuke project files survived, so in theory, I can re-link everything if I manage to recover any data from the failed drives.

Overall, the last few weeks haven’t been great, to be honest, and this seems to be the culmination…

I’ll see what kind of work I can still do so I don’t waste my time waiting for a solution, but good old Murphy sure is trying to make it difficult for me…

Another update post from his youtube channel confirms that “IT WORKS! At least the most important TOTM drive does. So, as far as TOTM is concerned, I can move forward with the project as if nothing happened.”

Folks, not quite a promise as who knows how life goes, but it looks like I’ll have some time coming up soon to put a bit more work into this. Is there anything I’d previously promised, or anything else relevant to TCW, that you guys would like me to prioritise? (For example, minor fixes, extended versions of episodes, etc)

Hey Eddie, you previously mentioned here that you liked an audio adjustment I made to some dialogue from Kenobi? I linked the audio file and comparison in my post. If it’s not a great effort to make that change, I’d be glad of it. Thanks. Here’s your reply to me: https://originaltrilogy.com/post/id/1551187/action/topic#1551187

Goob/Eddie, would you mind sharing an episode poster for S03E03 Pirates of the Outer Rim? The file provided is actually for S03E02b. It’s the only one missing, though many of the episode poster numberings did differ from my saved video files, it was nothing some renaming couldn’t take care of. Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks for adding it!

g00b has just shared with me some absolutely gorgeous posters, for every single season and episode, all lovely and consistent, for use in Plex. Aren’t they gorgeous?!

I’ve uploaded them to the mega folder, your existing links should all work.

Sorry to bother you but I have a link to the tracker from a while back, it seems recent as it has mega links and subtitle links but how can I find this beautiful Plex artwork please? Thank you both Eddie and Goob!

Is there no better way to download these other than one by one from the spreadsheet? no folder to bulk select?

I copied the spreadsheet column with the links into a notepad style app, double checked it was a list of one link per line and then added the list to jdownloader. That worked. Couple of files hit a bandwidth limit but i think that’s a per file throttling on Google’s side if the file has been downloaded too much

RELEASED - S04E06 - THE HAND OF GREED (v2.1)

  • RELEASE VERSION.
  • Our sixth episode of season four.
  • Comprising the original episodes An Old Friend, The Rise of Clovis, and Crisis at the Heart.
  • Also including the video ‘Ahsoka’s Decision’ created by Cinematic Captures on Youtube (used with permission and fully credited), itself a fan-enhanced version of a scene from the unfinished episode In Search of the Crystal from the unfinished Utapau arc.
  • Running 67 minutes.
  • DOWNLOAD LINK is in the tracker spreadsheet, PM me for access.
  • Note: It’s recommended that you download this before watching, rather than streaming it directly from Google Drive.

This is my longest single episode yet. The Scipio arc isn’t quite brilliant, but it has a lot of good moments, and it does a lot of good work to give us the state of the war and many of the major players as we head towards the show’s conclusion. I didn’t cut it down into shorter episodes because there’s no simple breakpoint - it’s one single narrative and treating it as one keeps it all in focus as the plot progresses.

I included ‘Ahsoka’s Decision’ (even though its animation style is slightly different) and modified a little dialogue to do as much as I could to have the loss of Ahsoka visibly affect Anakin in this series - something we didn’t have before due to the show’s cancellation and revival. The new scene hasn’t got quite the same aesthetic, and it’s a little lower visual quality, but it’s the best I can do for now.

Noteworthy changes:

  • The episode is titled ‘The Hand of Greed’, emphasising both the main plot and Anakin’s possessiveness toward Padmé.
  • The episode is placed here as the first time we see Anakin after the loss of Ahsoka, again to emphasise that angle.
  • We use ‘Ahsoka’s Decision’ as this show’s only cold open, mainly to give it a place to exist in this narrative but also to give its unique animation style some room.
  • The crawl gives us the Scipio and Anakin/Padmé context in a simple way.
  • The remainder of the episode is largely the three original episodes stitched together. They weren’t amazingly paced but there’s very little that isn’t necessary. (Though I am open to suggestions!)
  • I changed a little of the dialogue when Obi-Wan visits Anakin’s quarters to add a little more to the Ahsoka angle and try to lightly imply that Anakin’s jealousy here may be related to the loss of Ahsoka.
  • I removed Padmé’s guard asking Anakin if Rush Clovis’ account of the assault was true, to cut Anakin acting a little suprised, which might have raised suspicion.
  • I removed a light reference to the connection between Palpatine and Sidious, which I’m avoiding making explicit in this show.

This now lightly forms a trilogy intended to give a bit more weight to Ahsoka’s loss in this order - Mortis, Ahsoka’s Fall, and Scipio (with one break in the middle to allow Anakin a breather offscreen).

Onwards to the Order 66 arc!

Hi Eddie, wanted to say a huge thank you for your work on this project - I’m super excited to watch through this and finally get my friend into TCW with it. With that said, I’ve been following the thread and have some feedback for the quoted episode. The line you inserted from the Ahsoka’s decision deleted scene stands out quite a bit to me, the quality of the original audio from the deleted episode is poor, maybe they hadn’t fully mixed it in the animatic that was released. Anyway, I took the liberty of editing the audio of the inserted line slightly. Please tell me what you think. I’ll provide the edited audio export from audacity too.

in-scene comparison: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dZqbphWOmXwbw2DVmApRpObRq3Iv22Z_/view?usp=drive_link

pre-edited audacity audio file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10VPYSX1p_VgdjFeUck-I9liUd4-a8ftN/view?usp=drive_link

I’m actually not a huge fan of inserting the line, mostly because Anakin doesn’t really react to it. Maybe an audible sigh/grunt from Anakin would help. There’s a perfect pause for one when it cuts from the over the shoulder of Obi to the wide of him, with Anakin and the tool in the foreground. Anyway, hope you are well and thanks once more.
