ESB bluray screencaps request.
Time

Apologies if this is the wrong forum but an "other fan project" I am working on relates to Boba Fett.

I have outdated screencaps from the dvd I believe and I now realize how poor quality they are thanks to Harmy's wonderful preservation. I cannot play blurays on my PC and I want the highest quality available.

Can someone please screencap all of the Boba Fett scenes in ESB?

I would love to have a few frames from every shot and all the frames from the quick shots when he fires his blaster etc.

Please let me know if anyone is willing to help me!

Cheers

Regarding the menu; I dont like the idea of being reminded that the special edition exists every time I go to watch Star Wars.

With respect to and knowledge of what Harmy has done for us and removed, I would prefer to pretend I was just watching the film because its something I love, not watching it because its not something I hate.

That said I think education and credit to Harmy are still important.May I suggest either an auto play with a menu that pops up after the feature Or a menu at the start with a more generic STAR WARS theme with PLAY, OPTIONS, DESPECIALIZED selections?

Not saying you dont have the right to make sure everyone knows its Despecialzed 2.0 but being reminded of that first thing every time and, if I am showing it to a group, having to discuss with to people before they enjoy the film (instead of after) might slightly lessen my enjoyment of the experience.

But then that does come off as a bit ungrateful since none of us would have this option if it werent for you and this project! So I will just take it and love it either way but I wanted to offer that perspective to you.

Also I realize I could probably separate the menus from the feature somehow? but to a not tech savvy person like myself, that seems fraught with potential failure on many levels.

Are you downloading it from Myspleen, Midnight_Trooper? I get 900 KBps of speed...

No. I guess I need an invite? Is that AVCHD people are mentioning a "ready for disc" package so I dont have to mess with the mkv thing? That sort of thing is really confusing to those of us who havent ever done something like it before.

And the AVCHD is something that can be downloaded and burned to a disc or data stick without the steps required to play the mkv?

I asked someone to send me ESB and ROTJ last year so I never learned how to convert/burn it. Furthermore I just tried to download 2.0 and my speed is so slow it would take me days.

I've been telling my friends about this project and the upcoming 2.0 since last school year. School just started again last week and today they tell me they are going to get together and watch the GOUT next weekend. Noooo! I told them 2.0 was finally done and would try to get a copy by then. (even though personally I am waiting for the bluray)

Can anyone help me out?

Darth Vader button reference to help you recolor. Note that the belt lamps are a different shade of green.

Everything else looks really amazing!

On the subject of Vader's green chestbox button, I am ok with it looking a bit blue sometimes. The green color has some aqua green hues and isnt straight up green.

If the new reference Harmy is using has it looking blue sometimes, I'll go with that. The whole reason I brought the topic up in the first place was that the button had changed from GOUT to blu ray.

It's apparent from your screenshots that there's something wrong with your settings - blacks aren't black in the screenshots from the new WP (even the black bars), which makes everything look faded. If you're using MPC, try rightclick > render settings> reset> optimal render settings.

My apologies. I played the file with my PS3 and the colors look great!

A few things; I still think the planet in the opening shot could be more saturated, Vader still looks a bit odd, (love him in the 1st workprint) the R2 canyon sequence and the sandcrawler interior look very dark.

Everything else seems to be an improvement. You obviously know what you're doing more than the peanut gallery. ;)

On a technical note, the pan shot of the escape pod going towards the planet, there seems to be a stuttering effect. Is that part of the original or something caused by the 25 fps?

I like the green in some places. But overall I strongly dislike the colors. Things seem washed out and tinted. Not natural looking at all. I would not put huge trust in whatever source you are matching to. A proper direction for the colors, sure. But I think its a shame to loose the vibrancy and correct tones you had brought back to Star Wars with your old work in favor of this new dull green look.

Here are some comparisons.

New on the left, old on the right.

---------------------------------------

Beautiful starfield.

Another great starfield but the planet looks sad compared to the old colors. I wish the black of space could be a bit blacker.

Very green.

Good skin tones.

Leia has lost her glow.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p64/Midnight_Trooper/Star%20Wars/9.jpg

The next shots are all about sky color and the green tint.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p64/Midnight_Trooper/Star%20Wars/11.jpg

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p64/Midnight_Trooper/Star%20Wars/12.jpg

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p64/Midnight_Trooper/Star%20Wars/13.jpg

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p64/Midnight_Trooper/Star%20Wars/14.jpg

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p64/Midnight_Trooper/Star%20Wars/15.jpg

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p64/Midnight_Trooper/Star%20Wars/16.jpg

Overall, I agree with the green being a part of the original look. I just dont agree that it should be so dominating. I like the direction you were previously going in much more and I think that look is truer to the films than a possibly faded and captured in a way unknown (to most of us) piece of film stock.

Sorry if that comes across as hostile or that I am picking on you. I know what work you have put in to the research. Just my own feelings on the matter.

Harmy, in the scene where the sandtroopers are checking the doors for the droids there is alot of shake in that background.

I know you cant help where the floating droid used to be but that background looks like it moves around independently from the foreground.

Love the Greedo scene!

The colors look ok for the most part. I will point out that in the first shots of the blockade runner soldiers running around there is a pink and cyan hue to the walls. I guess this was a result of you trying to get the uniforms more blue?

I know you are going to work on the desert scenes some more and other people have made those points.

I dont know if its a problem inherent to the blu rays but the quality seems to jump around in places, and I am not just talking about GOUT sources or fixes etc. Maybe some shots just werent focused as well as others.

Keep up the good work!
