Another bloody edit of TPM (* unfinished project *)
Time
why not put in 'Let's get ready to Rumble' when Luke get's in with the Rancour

You, Sir, are a GENIUS!!! Someone get on this! Place it real subtle like, but up front enough to be able to make it out.

I've always thought that Anakin needed to actively save the day rather than bumbling it, he needs to get the surge of emotion and rise to the occasion, to be a child thrust into the adult world (and the damage that causes his psyche) he also needs to enjoy the power of it a little bit - he will always struggle with the love of the power and trying to do what is right.

In a related thought of mine, I've always thought, if possible, it would be neat to somehow paint out the magnet-hook thing Anakin uses during the pod-race to grab that loose cable. If it could be painted out so that only his extended hand is all that is seen, it could look like he is using the force to pull the cable back in. This would show Anakin has already developed some powers. After all, they do stress that he is the only human (on the entire planet, apparently) that can even pod-race, so obviously he already has some control of the force. It would be kind of neat to see him with a little more ability so that later on in the movie any edits during the space battle might work a little better; in that it would show he had enough control of the force to jump in a starfighter and blow up that Federation Donut by choice rather then by luck.

Make sense? If this has already been thought of or suggested in a similar project then please disregard. As far as I can recall I do not remember seeing this idea any place else.

Anyway, it would probably be too difficult to pull off, or to make it look exactly right. I know I couldn't do it. However, I just can't help but thinking how cool it would be to see him reach out his hand and use the force to reel that cable in each time I watch that scene. Lucas should have done it that way in the first place. Oh well, it's just another example of a wasted opportunity so prevalent in TPM as to cause this to probably be the most fan-edited movie out there.

Episode II: The Gathering Storm
Time
I'll give this a bump in order to say that I finally got my hands on these edits; all three of them, in fact. I won't go into detail, but I will say that all three of them a very VERY well done. Slumberland's Pod Race scene is my favorite fan edited version so far. I was always wanting EVERY bit of those annoying fucking announcers gone, and now they are. Technically, the edits in his versions were pretty much seemless to me. The best part of all, though, is that abortion of the celebration-ending is finally exorcised. I'll put this Ep. 1 edit right up there with the best of them that I've seen. I've yet to see Magnoliafan's versions, but would certainly love to. Any help on that? Anyone??? Anyway, as for Slumberland's Ep. 3 edit I, was really suprised by how much his edit improved Ep. 3, especially since I never had many serious problems with the theatrical version of Ep. 3 (obvious issues aside.) I thought Ep. 3 was about as good as the current version of George Lucas was capable of making it. There were some strong moments in RotS. Slumberland's edit removes the several bad elements, and is a tighter movie. I had never thought of removing the elevator scene in the beginning, but it is certainly not missed. I haven't fully watched his Ep. 2 edit yet. I have scanned most of it, and it is certainly just as well done as the other two, but my favorite Ep. 2 edit by FAR is Attack of the Phantom. I've grown so accustomed to Attack of the Phantom's edits that any other version right now would seem a bit off to me. So, seek these out. Grab the torrent of Ep. 1 that is out there, or was, ans hope the other two get upped soon.

The Hobbit starting in 2007?
Time
Beyond that, I'm all for an HBO Miniseries for The Silmarillion produced by Jackson. Would that not be uber-cool?

I'd be for that as well. I'd love to see them take a shot at pulling a narative out of those stories. It could be done, but it would be tricky. I tried to read it too, but to this point have not been able to finish it.

As far as the Hobbit, I'd rather almost see Jackson Executive Produce it rather then direct. I'd like to see him give someone who helped on LotR a shot at directing. I would like to see all those actors return, but I just feel that a Hobbit needs a different perspective behind the lense since the story is not nearly as weighty as the LotR. I'd hate to take a chance of Jackson taking a heavy handed, uber-serious approach to the movie like he did with King Kong. The Hobbit is much a lighter story, though with plenty of serious moments that could use Jackson's guidance. I'd want the world to look and feel the same - The Shire, Rivendale, The Goblins, Golem. They better not leave out Beorn as they did with Tom Bombadill!!! If they do it smart they could add a nice little forshadowing type of scene when Gandalf tells the story of having to deal with the "Necromancer!" They could show a short scene of clips with them doing whatever they did to get "rid" of him. They don't need to get ery creative with the script either, as far as drastic changes like they did with LotR. The Hobbit is much more straight forward. Obviously there would likely need to be a theatrical cut, and then an extended cut like LotR.

One other thing I thought would be neat, but I made need to be corrected on this, but aren't the elves that trap the dwarves after the spider attack the Mirkwood elves, and isn't their king Legolis' (sp?) father? I don't know why I'm thinking this, but I think that's how I heard it once. Well, it would make a neat cameo appearance during the scene where the Elven king is interigating the Dwarves to see Legolis standing behind, or near, the king. He would have no dialog as none is needed, nor is he even mentioned in the book, I just think it would be neat to see Orlando Bloom for a few seconds in the Hobbit. After all, he is an Elf, and the age thing shouldn't be a problem, right?

Screw, myspleen!

I can agree with this. Except for the fan edits that were upped by Rikter, Dark_Jedi and maybe a few others, the only other good thing about the site was an uploader called OldSkoolFan. I haven't seen him around the Spleen lately, but he sure does upload some interesting stuff. I enjoy his rare animation about as much as a good fan edit. Oh well, it sucks that MySpleen is doing this. Fuck them right in the ear!

Episode I: PaulisDead2221's Edit (* unfinished project *)
Time
Here's a very quick, crude quicktime of how I did the ending to my Ep. I edit... Rise of the Sith:

http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=84B14D513134B8A1

I used the funeral pyre music from the end of ROTJ, then pitch shifted the crescendo from the end of the ESB overture to match and take it to the credits.

BINGO!!! You nailed it! Beautiful work. That's almost exactly the way I always imagined my dream edit ending for this movie. That abomination of a celebration ending is now gone. I must get a copy of this whenever you are finished. I haven't read back through this thread, so when do you expect your edit to be finished? And what can I do to get a copy? PIF? Trade? Let me know. And thanks!

FAN EDIT REQUEST THREAD - Post your dream Fan Edits Here!
Time
I'll throw in another idea for someone else to tackle, should they so desire. Here at work we recently hung a few movie posters that a friend had left over from his days working at a theater. I decided to put the Armageddon and Deep Impact posters side-by-side, just well, because. Anyway, I got to thinking that it probably wouldn't be too hard to to make a halfway decent movie using combined footage from the both of them. I enjoyed both movies somewhat, but what each one had going for it, the other one lacked - in my opinion. So, in my view Deep Impact had the better story, but Armageddon had the better action - and more astroid destruction. My dream edit would keep the Deep Impact story (with some of the melodrama removed, but I prefer Frodo over Affleck) with the cooler detruction and impact scenes from Armageddon. Maybe keep a lot of the Billy Bob stuff from Armageddon, mix it up with Deep Impact somehow...I don't know. It's just an idea. CBB's War of the Worlds also kind of gave me the idea. I can't do it. I don't have the patience. However, Yoshimi picked up my Heat edit idea, so I figured I throw out another one...to keep this thread going too.

I guess I'll chime in with some comments. First, I like your ideas. Of all of them, the 1st one confuses me a bit. The whole "random ambassadors who aren't Quigon Jin and Obiwan Kenobi." Maybe some more detail on that, or did I miss something completely?

I'm not sure if I saw this listed in your cuts, but if there is anyway, PLEASE get rid of the "Weesa Going HOME!" shit when they are on their way back to Naboo. Find some way, ANY way, to get rid of that shit.

Also, I have always had an idea for the ending that I think would be better then the original, or any of the awesome fan edits I have seen so far; and probably not too hard to pull of. Basically it is to get rid of the ENTIRE celebration parade. In my view it is pointless. What the fuck is that big ball of energy anyway? A "peace ball?" Whatever! Rather, go directly from the funeral to the closing credits. Maybe fade out a little bit before the credits start. Keep that somber/eerie music from the funeral going for a while into the credits. This give the movie's ending a more ominous feel; especially with the last shot being Palpatine, you know, that Phantom Menace guy! I think it would serve as a good lead into the rest of the series. EP1 doesn't need to end on such a cheery note. That whole world is going to shit in a few years because of the last guy in the shot during the funeral. Keep it dark. Keep that sad music going. I think it would work.

I've tried a fan-edit of EP1 myself. I don't have the skills or patience, plus there are some great ones out there. To this point ADM's is my favorite EP1 edit. The Phantom Editor's is my favorite EP2 edit. I like your ideas and hope to get a copy whenever you get around to finishing it.

Good luck!

THE proper PHANTOM EDIT 1.1 with commentary is up on demonoid now!!!!!

YAY!!! I guess it really does exist, huh? Anyone had a chance to peep it yet? I got it coming down kind of slow, so it may take a few days. I'm also a little concerned about the .dmg Mac file, but I trust that little program can properly convert it to an .iso image. I can't wait to see it.

Episode II by the Phantom Editor
Time
I MAY be getting a proper copy of THE PHANTOM EDIT from another fan VERY soon - SO I MAY have the version with commentary for Episode 1!!!!!! (again MAYBE)

I tried my best to obtain a copy from the source. He was a very nice guy in his response, but said he could make no promises. That was right around the time of my last post in this thread. I was hoping to have something nice to offer to the community, but alas...If you come across the DVD version of The Phantom Edit, I will eagerly await the day it is uploaded to the site where I get everything else I have received from you. Or hopefully I will be able to be a part of a PIF process to distribute the edit to others. I cannot stress how much I LOVE his version of Attack of the Clones. I know others prefer Magnoliafan’s, or ADM’s, and that is perfectly fine. Both are superior edits to Lucas' version, especially ADM's. I just feel the Phantom Editor approached it with an editor's, and story teller's, mentality, and he nailed it. If you do happen to score a proper dvd version of the Phantom Edit, please do what you can to bump it to the top of your list, if that is possible. I know you have others who are all the time wanting you to bump each and everything you offer to the top, so I don’t want to be a pest about it. I’m just very excited about the possibility of actually being able to love a version of The Phantom menace as much as I now do Attack of the Clones. I love ADM’s “A Vergeance (sp?) in the Force.” I want to be able to compare the two. Here’s to hoping it works out!

<strong>The &quot;ADigitalMan Special Editions&quot; DVD Info and Feedback Thread</strong> (Released)

Thanks to the generosity of one very generous person, I can now pay forward three copies of the ADM Clone Wars cartoon/movie. It is a very good edit. A few things to know before requesting a copy; I can only burn single layer, so I only have the single layer version. Please check the forums for the differences between the SL and the DL. Also, I cannot do artwork. I burn +R discs only, and I always use non-printable Verbatims. Just letting you all know these things ahead of time. I already have one member of the forum on deck, so I am looking for two others. I see that a few others are looking for a copy. If you are cool with the SL version, and the other things I mentioned above, PM me. Also, PM me if you have any questions. To the very generous person, thank you, sir, for hooking me up. It is much appreciated. If I ever come across anything you need, and I have it, I will repay the favor. I have a few things to offer, but I suspect you have so much more.

So like, asking people to PM me (in another thread) about possibly getting copies of some of these awesome fan edits and extended editions, and then frustratingly never getting a response, and then realizing months later that I never turned on my PM is like a weird moment of realization.

Can I get a test PM please from a random stranger? Also, I would love a copy of Clone Wars. I have mad PIF skillz, but can only do SL discs. I apologize if I am not following etiquette (sp?)

NON-Star Wars Fan Edit and Alternate DVD Covers SHOWCASE
Time
For what it's worth I got this Transformers Zone thing downloaded, and I think I am currently the only seeder for it. I'm not sure if I can say where I found it as I haven't read the rules (which I'm sure clearly explain what I can and can't do if I would just take the time to read them since I know exactly where they are located,) or even give a link to it, but it is a torrent. If anyone wants it you can do a google search for it. That's how I found it. I'm already past a 1:1 ratio, but as long as it's uploading at a good 30kbs+/- clip I will keep it going for as long as I can. It is a DVD version with Japanese menus and English subtitles. The quality is pretty good from what I can tell by watching it on the computer. I just learned about this thing like a week ago. I was surprised to see it had some of the original characters.

FAN EDIT REQUEST THREAD - Post your dream Fan Edits Here!
Time
Here are a few ideas I have had. I lack the skills or patience, but I figured these would be pretty neat for someone to have a crack at:

Heat (Action Edition) - This would basically remove as much of the family drama stuff, and the kid trying to kill herself stuff, and some of the other character's relationship drama stuff, and keep only what's neccessary to keep it a lean mean action movie. Might not work, but it would be interesting,

We Were Soldiers (Green Edition) - Basically this would be an edit that included only the moments in the movie when the soldiers are in uniform and fighting, as well as some of the training stuff from before they get to Vietnam - and the French getting killed. As much, if not ALL of the "homefront" wives, and kids, and death notices would be removed.

The above two would sort of be along the same lines as the Pearl Harbor (which was on my wish list, but no more thanks to...) ADM edit, but neither of those two movies are bad. It would only be for personal enjoyment, and not to correct a bad, or missed-opportunity, movie.

One other edit I have always wondered if it would work is Transformers: The Movie. I would love to remove the cheesy hair metal band soundtrack, and replace it with some cool battle orchestral music. I don't know if that's possible, but it would be neat.

Oh yeah, I always thought there was a potential "De-Assified" type of movie in Catwoman. I'll probably go to hell for thinking that, but I think there is a possibility.

I have more that I can't think of right now. Oh wait, a good solid edit of the Godzilla movie could make that better. Somehow remove as much of that blond girl as possible.

Oh yeah, and Hulk could use a good re-working. Somehow take all the flash back stuff, add it to the beginning of the movie, and then tighten up the rest a bit. I liked the movie, but a good fan-edit of it would probably work. Also, someone that did this would have to add the sound of the Hulk changing from the TV show to when he changes in the movie. Also, the ending-credits theme song would have to be added to the end of the movie at the start of the end credits. When it's over the normal music could pick up.

I'm thinking of a few more. Is this what you were looking for?
