Not only that, but Lowry scanned the original negatives at high definition. Big advantage there. He says in his new Sound & Vision interview that using the earliest generation print is best, it has the most information in the picture. Has any bootlegger ever thought about using an original 35mm print from somewhere? They're probably hard to find, but there has to be some print that was used in pakistan or wherever, it was a widespread film with lots of prints made. They'd be beat up, but someone like mverta sounds like he has the means to do a professional restoration.
