STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Hello everyone,

Been away from the forum for a little while. Took me an hour to catch up on 12 pages of posts.

Saw the new video.... freakin awesome!

My only suggestion is that the displays in the control room look so bland. But I think Adywan said he had something in mind to spruce them up like he did in ANH:R.

Also, I would like to say thanks for everyones comments on the luke/hoth escape. I was surprised at how spirited the debate came.

However, I still feel that if Han is such a great pilot. Then why wouldn't he look at his sensor scope and take one of those "paths" that Luke did.

The point of Vader focusing on the falcon is very valid. It is just too bad we couldn't add a line in for Vader saying. "I want that ship no matter what" or " all ships in blockade focus on that ship". (He does say "I want that ship not excuses" later on though) but it isn't clear at that point in the movie. We know that he wants Skywalker and could believe he is on the Falcon. However, if he can't sense that Luke is not on the Falcon, then why wouldn't he assume Luke could be in one of the many other ships leaving. Thus keeping the blockade intact? Maybe he senses Leia instead of Luke?

We as viewers are left to speculate on Vaders motivations on the blockade, or that Luke used the force, or Han was just unlucky to fly into the blockade (Which upon reflection, is what happens throughout the entire movie). So maybe I just answered my own question.

PS - Doubleofive you can put my IRL name in the credits.

Hello,

Just a couple of comments about the last few things we have been talking about.

DAGOBAH:

I think we should keep the original more cloudy shot. It just makes more sense why Luke would crash. In the ROTS shot it wouldn't make sense why he would not land at a place with better weather.

I do like Vaderios's X-Wing through the clouds shot. It adds depth.

As for the X-Wing Crash landing. As you can see from the first shot there is a clear path. So any shots of Luke standing in front of the X-wing have to mirror that.

As for adding spider creatures and slugs to Dagobah, I am not in favor. I like Dagobah the way it is. I think any changes should be subtle and enhancing, like the trees in the back ground, sunbeams cutting through the trees etc....

HOTH ESCAPE:

The Rebel Hoth escape has always kind of annoyed me for one reason. We are lead to believe that the Imperial Fleet establishes a blockade around the planet to catch the rebels escaping. The ion cannon fires, disabling one star destroyer, and then the rebel transport escapes through the hole in the blockade. Luke then pretty much makes his escape like he is on a sunday afternoon drive while the Falcon has to run for its life.

The part that doesn't make sense is that, if a star destroyer was disabled, wouldn't the imperial fleet redistribute itself to now cover the new hole? Why wouldn't the Falcon follow Lukes path out of Hoth? It sure is a lot easier and luke leaves Hoth less than 1 minute after the Falcon does. Personally I think, TPM gets the blockade thing right with forcing the Naboo starcruiser to blast past the Trade Federation ships.

How do we solve this then?

1)Perhaps more disabled Star Destroyers?
2)Have a more exciting escape for Luke?

3)Show that Vader distributes his fleet to chase after the Falcon letting the other rebels go?

Just some thoughts.

Matticon.

Well i've been working on the rebel transport escape scene today and i have to say that i'm definitely going with the blue electrical laser bolts instead of the multi coloured original one. It add so much to this scene and give the Ion canon its own distinctive look as well as looking 100% better and more realistic colour wise. Making the blast points brighter and the new colouring takes away the fakeness of the original animation. I just love it.

a still shot isn't really the best way of seeing just how well this new effect works. it looks so much better in motion

i'm also going to have the stardestroyer firing at the escaping ships and destroying one of the x-wings before it gets blasted by the ion canon bolts

Love the idea of an X-wing being blasted! But then I always love more explosions.

Might I suggest that the Star Destroyer scores a direct hit on the Transport but it still escapes limping into hyperspace? Like in the scene just after the falcon leaves the asteroid field and recieves a direct hit from the Star Destroyer but survives. I think it would add to the tension making the blockade seem that much more formidable.

Just a suggestion.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Wow, what an interesting couple of days.

I think Impfighter went to film school and his doctoral thesis was "A Disscussion on the technical aspects of filming the Hoth Battle scene, specifically AT-AT laser colors, model construction, mattes, and special effects."

Also, to see Adywan freak out over the matte was very surprising.

Something has been on my mind for a few days and it relates to the HD camera ADywan bought and something he said. Adywan stated that he needed the camera to complete some shots for the ESB:R, but it would also come in handy for the prequels.

What could he have in mind for that I ask myself? A Jar Jar death scene?

It seems Adywan has put some thought into the prequels revisited and I am curious to find out what he has in mind and how his vision differs or is similar to the phantom editor.

Hey,

Looking at how the edit is comming. Looks great for the most part.

I don't like the idea of changing the weather vane. Does it need explaining how Luke gets there? I kind of like it the way it is.

I agree with most that ESB is pretty good as is. IF the blue tint is gone, the shield generator explosion is improved, some more rebel ships escape, SNOWTROOPERS in the battle scene as was originally planned, then I will be happy.

Hello Adywan,

I just watched the NTSC version for the 3rd time and I had a few questions.

1. In the Death Star Hanger Bay Control room (where how to disable the tractor beam is discussed) you added in a missing 4th blaster rifle (which originally had 4) However, it is only missing after our hero's have departed to the detention center. Our hero's don't have one of those types of weapons until they go there (and give it to chewie). Isn't that missing rifle the one that chewbacca is using in the detention center? Just a thought.

2. How many TIE fighters are there in the big reveal? Also did you count how many TIE's and Rebel fighters you see blowing up on screen and background to end up with 9 Rebel fighters left?

Hey Ady,

Watched the NTSC version last night with my wife. She kidded that you should add a couch in the trash compactor scene for the DVD9.

I had some questions that either you or one of the other posters could point out about the DVD9.

What is the resolution going to be for it?

Where in the board can I find a list of the extras? I know you posted them.

Are there any more tweaks to the movie from the DVD5?

Hello everyone,

For all you canadian users out there, I am downloading off of the shawnews (both vancouver) servers. All 86 (87 with NFO file) parts are currently up and I am downloading.

Broken parts for me are:

Once I get the full file I will seed a torrent.
