STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **

I never noticed the control panel is in the wrong place. It’s obviously done because of framing.

They have a nice background and they wanted to show it off while he was at a console talking to tyderium.

But then why not go with the area off the side like in esb? (The place where the probe droid sends photos of the shield generator)… Oh cause they didn’t build it.

Wow… Things blew up here in the last few days.

I am glad Adywan waded into the conversation.

I think we have to remember the spirit of these edits. It is my impression these are meant to be “What the Special Editions should have been”.

A lot of the suggested edits go deeper into fan edits than I think Ady intends. All of the " issues" with ROTJ have been discussed at length on other boards. They have never really found a solution. I think we are stuck with them.

Personally I think Lando or Han should have died… Luke should have gone back to train more… The DS2 battle should have taken place at coruscant… But alas.

I am just going to focus my ideas on polishing up the ROTJ we are stuck with.

Blog over…

Wow, glad to be back on the board again. Wasn’t much to say after 2011 or so.

As usual lurking… Reading developments. Being ignored 😉 Glad to be apart of ROTJ:R

I don’t mind the new blu ray effect. Definetly better than original and as stated before. Room for improvement.

Ray,

it is my understanding that the crushed blacks are unfixable using the blue ray as the source. See hamy's making the despecialized Star Wars Youtube to see why. The detail in the black areas is just gone. ANH:R suffers the same problem.

however as ady has shown with the restored cockpit shots, he has access to a HD film scan of ESB. Therefore from that source the information lost in the crushed blacks is still present. A lot of work to restore.... But it could theoretically be done.

Bluecardinal You are 100% right. tactically it makes more sense to sit tight in an armoured vehicle that is impervious to the fire you are taking when assaulting an entrenched position.

here is a funny article written about the battle of hoth from a tactical perspective.

I saw that someone on facebook suggested adding Imperial ground troops during the battle of hoth for scaling purposes, however I like the idea of ground troops only because it will make sense of the rebel ground troops in the trenches since there is no way they could take down the walkers with their blasters alone. Just random ramble as I wait for the final masterpiece!

i too wanted ground troops added to the hoth battle. In my research it was clear from evidence of story boards that I found in the "empire strikes back notebook" published in 1980 that Lucasfilm had story boarded imperial troops battling with the rebels. However it seems to have been dropped.

In JW Rinzlers "The Making of the Empire Strikes Back". There were no scenes filmed with imperial troops in the trenches. No costumes made or extras. The book talks at length about the second unit filming of the rebel trench scenes in finse....no imps. It is Intersting that Rinzler does not show the dropped storyboards and makes no mention of imperial troops at all.

perhaps it was budget, perhaps technical issues with the effects shot. Who knows. the interesting thing is that they planned it and then dropped it at some point.

there was some filmed scenes with a wierd rebel tank That were deleted. i think it is from that recently discovered making of video from Germany? Anyways you can you tube it. Attached is a link to a photo of it.

And just by googling I found all this stuff.

There is still filming yet to be done (carbonite, wampa). He's been busy tweaking other shots recently.

Thanks for the update Doubleofive.

i think that is what most people were wanting.

to do list:

filming carbonite/wampa

compositing

and the audio work

Was the shield generator explosion problem solved?

No offence Ady..... but I think you are doing a great job keep up the good work.

On another note, maybe for ROTJ:R and ANH:HD you could do a kickstarter campaign?

I guess the only issue is that you can't make a profit? Well the easy solution to that is... spend ALL the money!

I had a great visual in my mind of the scene with Artoo and Luke in the camp scene before they meet yoda. Ady could add a bunch of bugs swarming around that red/yellow glowing power generator Luke plugs artoo into for power.

That's a great idea! Wouldn't be hard to do and would really enhance the environment.

Not really that hard, well apart from designing all the bugs, building the Cg models and texturing then the rigging and animating of each creature separately (just think how many times that needs to be done with a load of bugs without AI software)

I wasn't thinking of close up shots where u can see the detail of the bugs. I was thinking more in long shots where they are little specs... Also maybe some black blurs flying around something or in front of the camera

Ronster and Doubleofive have a valid point.

This thread has been around for almost 6 years. There is so much stuff and so much time has passed that people are suggesting things that have already been decided or stuff that we know Ady will not do.

Lets face it, Ady has decided on 99% of things. This edit will be very close to the theatrical release. So now we just have to wait to see the final product and then make our critiques.

Mac however.... Made a great suggestion. Adding out of focus insects and bugs flying around dagobah.

I had a great visual in my mind of the scene with Artoo and Luke in the camp scene before they meet yoda. Ady could add a bunch of bugs swarming around that red/yellow glowing power generator Luke plugs artoo into for power.

Subtle... But a nice touch to add to the swampy feel. Ady could add out of focus bugs to a few areas around dagobah.

Just an idea...
