44rh1n's "The Fellowship of the Ring" Extended Edition Color Restoration
Time

I’ll try and find the time to test the file on some additional media players.

When I tsmuxed for BD folders I pulled it up (inside the STREAM folder) with VLC and had the same issue. No center channel for either DTS track so no dialogue. But again, the BD that I burned plays fine and has fantastic sound.

This one: 44rh1n’s “The Fellowship of the Ring” Extended Edition Color Restoration V3 v1.0

It’s just VLC that won’t give me a center channel. The burned Blu-Ray seems fine (I sampled various scenes). Watching it on a 74 inch HDTV is an eye opener. Normal color instead of Matrix Green = AMAZING. Finding 4 hours of free time is not easy right now so I hope that I can have the chance to watch this in its entirely soon.

I was able to grab this and have it on my hard drive. What’s interesting (in a sad way) is that VLC gives me no center channel. So no dialogue. Opening it in PowerDVD gives me the center channel. I have not come across this oddity before. I imagine it’s a 5.1 issue since the 2.0 foreign language tracks have dialogue.

From what little I sampled the imagery is lovely no longer set in the Matrix!

As I type this I am tsmuxing Blu-Ray folders. It’s been years since I did this so hopefully I am doing it correctly. I’m glad that I actually have a couple BD50 blanks handy! I will need to find appropriate art for the disc.

Once I have a Blu-Ray I will find the time to have 3 3/4 uninterrupted hours to enjoy this film for the first time in many years. Naturally I will then have to find two more 4 hour blocks to watch TTT and ROTK!

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V2.5 - AVCHD DVD9 & NTSC DVD5 (Released)
Time

Hey all, I just noticed that my Jedi v2.5 AVCHD ISO says v2.0. So naturally I went to myspleen to download again… and the ISO is v2.0.

Am I missing something?

I want to burn all three movies for a friend of mine and of course don’t want to burn JEDI twice. Good inkjet printable DVD9 blanks ain’t cheap. 😃

By the way, myspleen is horrible these days. 9 times out of 10 I cannot get into the site. Their servers are insanely overloaded.

By the way #2, it’s getting a little hard to keep up. So Star Wars is now on v2.7, Empire v2.0 and Jedi v2.5? I tried searching on myspleen but the servers won’t load (as mentioned above). My searching here gives me the versions menitoned above.

ROGUE ONE is awesome! That is all.

team negative1 - star wars 1977 - 35mm theatrical version (Released)
Time

Gents (and ladies), I moved to China and am having a terrible time loading this website. It just dies dies dies. I want to catch up, but can’t get beyond a page or so. Is there somewhere that has an update on what’s what because I see a BD ISO is around, but Lord help me find out where and what’s on it, etc.

Hell, I hope this message actually posts. The net here is like the Dark Ages. Or it could be controlled by the Sith Lord.

PM’ing me would be cool.

It’s hard to believe that this can happen. Thanks to all involved. You deserve medals! I only wish I was not currently in China, It’ll take me weeks to download with my VPN connection. The net here is 90% blocked and 99% slow. Add a VPN into the mix and it’s the dark ages.

Of note… Every member of my family, young and old, has the Harmy Despecialized editions of the Trilogy (I usually gifted on b-days or Xmas). Now I am spreading them around China and have gifted them to over a dozen so far. STAR WARS is not all that well known here so I want everyone to see it properly. Looks like I have another version to start gifting. 😃

My girlfriend’s 11 year old son had watched the official Blu-Ray versions (from bootlegs, since there is no such thing as legal here) and liked the films. Last month I showed him the Despecialized versions and he thoroughly enjoyed them. We saw TFA last week so I wanted him properly prepped. Too bad is mother is bored to tears by the SW films. 😦

Hong Kong Rescue Project - Preserving Asian Martial Arts and Action Cinema Classics!
Time

Easy easy… okay people. I know this guy and have him working with him on recent projects. While I started on my own, J and I began to work together after I saw he really wanted to put forth an effort and release the best possible versions. So what I do is I handle all of the audio on these releases. I typically also do work on subtitles. J takes over from there due to my bad back, which has made it very difficult for me to edit the last few months. It is extremely painful just to sit down. Being perfectly frank, without our partnership none of the recent titles would have been released.

That's the story and I hope everyone will get along. I'm currently dictating this message via my iPhone as I struggle with what I think is the flu. But I thought it important enough to post this message to prevent any misunderstandings.

Need an alternative to DVDfab for Blu-Rays
Time

Okay, so DVDfab has always worked for me in regards to BD's, but it's now discontinued (as you may know) and so that means no more updates.

I have now run into trouble with the Region B BFI Blu-Ray release of Werner Hertzog's NOSFERATU. For those who don't know, it's getting raves. Anyway...

It seemed to rip/copy okay (I did a 1:1 copy of the BD50) but I now have two coasters after burning using IMGBURN. That has never happened to me before. For extra clarification... I did not create an ISO. I created a folder structure, since that always seems 100% reliable.

I have no actual Region B Blu-Ray player so I cannot verify if the actual BFI disc is bad. After years of importing BD's I have never had a bad disc. Not yet, anyway.

What can I use to make a 1:1 copy? Is there anything outside of DVDfab? Things are ever changing so I figured somebody here would know.

For those anti-piracy people please remember that I am simply buying superior versions of these films vs. the shitty USA releases. Shout Factory destroyed Nosferatu with DNR so they can kiss my ass. These are my own personal titles I bought that I copy to Region A. I retain the Region B originals. I especially love the steelbook versions (like with LIFEFORCE and other Arrow releases).

HALLOWEEN - Fixing the audio and re-creating 1999 color timing

In case anyone is interested:

I compared Matt_Stevens' synced laserdisc mono track with the new mono track included on the Shout! Factory Halloween box set release. The mono included on the new blu-ray is actually the original mix this time around (no fold-downs, unlike the 35th Anniversary), but it doesn't sound nearly as good as the LD audio -- too much noise reduction.

I didn't know Matt_Stevens synced the LD audio?

Didn't we all, lol! I did it. And i know many others that did it. I guess there are a lot of Halloween fans out there.

Info: Star Trek III 35mm print available!
Time

pittrek said:

OK now I'm confused - why are you guys so excited about this film print exactly? I mean I haven't seen the Bluray version for several years (I'm not a fan of this film) but wasn't the BD version "good enough" ?

The BluRays for III, IV and VI were DNR'd to death. Massive amounts of grain and detail killing noise reduction were applied. I cannot comment on Part V since i hate that film and prefer to think of it not existing at all.

Only Trek II avoided grain raping. Even Trek I had some DNR.
