Info & Request: Muppet Christmas Carol - Widescreen w/ deleted song and Dir. commentary!
Time

I’ve ripped the Disney+ version but can only do it in 1080p, which doesn’t look much (if any) different from the iTunes version. I also captured it using PlayOn’s cloud service which only gives it in 720p - the colours looked a little better but of course the resolution isn’t as good.

There’s been a 1080p fan-edit out there since last Christmas. The video is sourced from Amazon, the 5.1 audio and commentary track come from the old DVD release and the stereo audio from the LaserDisc is also included.

And for the record, I’m not offering to sell these to anyone

Interesting…I’ve got some pretty contradictory stuff to show you then.

THAT WAS MY FACEBOOK PAGE AND IT HAD ALL THE UNCUT SCENES FROM ALL THE CUT EPISODES ON THERE, ALL THE RARE LOST SKETCHES AND MORE AND WE HAD OVER 500 MEMBERS WHEN FACEBOOK SHUT IT DOWN TO COPYRIGHT DUE TO SOME SNAKE GRASSING IT UP TO THE FACEBOOK POLICE. PEOPLE WOULD COME TO ME TO PURCHASE FULLY UNCUT DVD COPIES/EPISODES THROUGH DOWNLOAD LINKS ON THERE REGULARLY.

The “snake” that reported you to the “Facebook police” did so because you’re SELLING copyrighted episodes illegally, instead of simply sharing them. This community is not about illegally selling fanedits, it’s about preserving media. You didn’t even edit these uncut episodes yourself, you just downloaded the ones I made and took credit for them. I know for a fact, because I saw your “promotional” videos on your page, which consisted of all clips I edited together, but strangely enough, had your watermark added to them.

IT’S AMAZING HOW MANY POSTS I SEE OF OFAH AND THE UNCUT VERSIONS, SO IT’S A PRIVILEGE TO HELP FELLOW DIE-HARD OFAH FANS OUT. WELL IF YOU WANT THE FULL UNCUT DVD VERSIONS PM ME AS IM YOUR MAN. ALL OF MY EPISODES HAVE BEEN RESTORED TO DVD QUALITY AND SKILLFULLY EDITED TO FORM COMPLETE UNCUT VERSIONS.

And yet here you are, still openly advertising that these episodes for sale. You’re not privileging anyone to part with their hard earned cash in exchange for something you didn’t even make, so don’t flatter yourself. Even if you did make them, you’re still not entitled to sell them, because they’re not yours to sell. Don’t come up with “If the BBC wanted to make money…blah blah”. It’s their property. They’ll sell them how THEY want, NOT how you want.

Can everyone please report this user, before he acquires more fan-edited content and begins to sell that as well. I’m trying to be diplomatic here, but it is very crushing to spend around five years and a lot of money on a project, only to find that someone is openly exploiting it for their own financial and egotistical gain.

Info Wanted: 'The Dark Knight' - and others with shifting IMAX ratio...
Time

I read my earlier post back and hope I didn't come across as snobbish, I apologise if I did the voice in my head sounded very different at the time.

Anyway, the beginning when the Joker puts that...gas spraying thing in the bank manager's mouth looks odd to me when cropping the BR to 2.35, as do close up shots of Bruce Wayne driving his fancy car (the top of his head is cut off). The alternate shot at the end as well, while very subtle, is still there. There could be more, but I don't really have the patience to check, I only found this one by accident.

I said "a simple crop" -- as in, hacking the top and bottom of the BR scenes without shifting them would look odd, hence why I mentioned the action not always being in the middle. I guess I'll have to be more specific next time.

@CSchmidlapp - It was the same transfer as seen on the BR with the edge enhancement present, the IMAX scenes also have the edge enhancement, and compared to the BR are mostly noticeably duller, colour-wise.

A simple 2.35 "crop" wouldn't look right, as for some shots, important areas would be clipped, and other shots would just look odd. It's quite uncommon for the important picture information to be directly in the middle on the IMAX scenes.

With that being said, itv did air TDK the other day in 2.35:1 throughout, which I recorded in HD. I'm in the process of merging this recording with the BR. I've actually noticed 1 use of an alternate take (possibly shot from a different angle) in place of an imax shot, Alfred burning the letter towards the end of the film. Not sure of any other cases of this as the frame counts don't differ, which makes them hard to find.

Info & Help: looking for... the Australian version of Crocodile Dundee?
Time

The R4 Australian DVD release is the original Australian cut of the film. I have the R4 double pack of the first and second film together, although the first one desperately needs to be restored to better shape. Don't listen to various sites claiming it to be 4:3 either, it's the original 2.35:1 ratio in anamorphic widescreen.

Info: Something that might interest folks here..."ROTJ" Editdroid Laserdisc Footage
Time

Hey guys, I don’t really post that much here, but it does seem like people here are interested in unusual Star Wars related material, so I thought I’d post this for those who haven’t seen it:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EditDroid-1984-VERY-RARE-DEMO-laserdisc-SW-Return-of-the-Jedi-OUTTAKES-Scene-50-/141065212829?pt=US_Laserdisc&hash=item20d824539d

It does mention that this is a “generic Scotch Videodisc” (I don’t know if LaserDisc recorders exist or not, and whether another one will just turn up again after this one is sold!) - however, it also mentions that around 15 - 20 mins of raw footage is included, which was apparently never commercially released. I figured this might interest at least someone here. Unfortunately, this seller doesn’t just want an arm and a leg for this disc, he wants the whole right hand side of your body.

Info Wanted: Batman (60s tv series) - has any preserved them?
Time

GonbeFAN, I'll look for my copy when I next go back to uni. Due to what Molly said a few months back about Satellite being much higher quality than freeview, I decided to grab a capture card with satellite input, and I'm very glad I did, as, not only is the recorded file higher resolution (544x576 vs. 704x576) - it was just in time for itv-4's new on-screen logo, which comes off way cleaner than the old one did IMO (even on the freeview caps).
I was wondering GonbeFAN, would you be willing to add another member to this project? I have tonnes of stuff that could be used for extra material, as well as a probable lead on this "Studio Masters" set that's been circulating for years, which is supposed to be 100% uncut.

GnobeFan, those screenshots look fantastic, much better than anything I managed to cough up haha. I believe the old FOX logo is featured somewhere on the "Holy Batmania" DVD set, so if you have that, it might be worth checking out. I've got a copy somewhere, but I'm not sure exactly where it is.

Just for the record, here is the "Maybe Now" song which is usually missing from "Scat Darn Catwoman"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRvF5VABOAo

Far as I know, it's missing from ALL TV versions, this is the only major cut to itv 4 broadcasts though.

Hey guys, I have most episodes of Batman capped from ITV-4, and I've tried to do work to them, but I really can't be bothered as I keep getting poor results, so I'm willing to send them out if anyone wants them.
I'm only missing a few episodes from season 1. And yes, there are *some* edits, such as the Lesley Gore song "Maybe Now" missing from an episode, and the "next week" villain bumpers, but overall they're complete.
