STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Ronster, pyrotechnics would be fine if you can get help from the studio who did the practical effects for the Independence Day White House blow up or the Mythbusters or something like that, AKA someone with years and years of experience in the film industry/blowing up stuff.

Otherwise it just won't look right no matter what.

THEN you need to rent a high speed HD camera so add that to the cost of the pyro people/supplies. Because this isn't just Sid blowing up toys in his back yard, it needs to have the "weight" of a huge explosion, just like in the FB video.

So, to me, first option would definitely be to try to use this already existing (and fantastic) footage of a big ass explosion. Even if no HD version exists as Tantive has pointed out, the generator could be farther away so the explosion footage could be smaller in frame....or something.

Getting this guy's permission might prove even harder given the new info about him. But who knows, can't hurt to ask, can it?

If using this footage is definitely out of the question for whatever reason, then it's gonna have to be digital, and we could only ask whoever ends up doing this to match that video to the best of their abilities.

Anyone?

I think that explosion is PERFECT for the generator scene. Is there any particular reason it can't be used? No HD, no permission granted or something like that?

With some tweaking like adding the snow floor and geneator (which shouldn't be hard for Ady) plus some other details this could work very well.

I absolutely loooved the shockwave in the middle of the explosions. Loved it.

And how exactly do you suggest it be fixed? How can "heavy breathing" be removed without building a time machine and going back to reshoot the scene?

It's been years since I watched ESB simply because I'm waiting to watch this version with a clear mind so to speak, so you could be right that it looks weird or that the continuity isn't right. I honestly don't remember, but I don't see how something like that can be fixed if it indeed needs fixing.

At the top of the left canyon wall, far side, is it a skull I see?

If it was on purpose, awesome! If it was a Bob Ross-like happy accident, even better!

After all this time working on the Edit, I just can't quite believe how you can keep going and going without yelling and saying "The hell with it!"

Amazing job Ady, just amazing.

Is it possible that in one of these very rare Laser discs exists footage of James Earl Jones recording his DV lines? Or did they not use to film actors while doing voice over work like they do now?I know that mostly happens when it's an animated film but reading about all the never-before-seen footage that may be in there got me wondering about this. In the LDs or elsewhere, I'd very much like to see JEJ back then bringing Vader to life.

Has anyone got any idea if said footage exists? If so, link please! :)

For the most part I liked the ST dialogue, but unlike Monroville I really hated the "Do you know what's going on?" one. To me, it's EXACTLY what a PT battle droid would say in that moment.

These are soldiers so I wouldn't have them chattering, or sharing their thoughts in front of an officer just as a low rank soldier wouldn't do it IRL. Besides, they are merely bodyguards here escorting Leia, etc. Better keep them quiet.

The other one that doesn't work at all is the one blasting 3PO. At that point in the movie, the audience has absolutely no idea that the Empire is already there and in cahoots with Lando. We know Fett followed them, but not that Lando is about to betray them. That is a huge reveal when the doors open to show Vader. Hearing so clearly a Stormtrooper shooting 3PO would undermine the reveal greatly. I think that's why they specificaly went with a non-stormtrooper comlink voice for that one, and it works much better the way it is IMO.

Aslo agreed with them better not talking during the Han torture. But the one-word responses actually DO work quite well IMO like the one on the AT-AT or "stop that ship!" or when Luke is following them. :)

I think it's way too late in the game to even consider most of these "out there" suggestions.

It's just an assumption, but by now, I'd say the video part of this edit is about to be done except for shooting the actual models/wampa, etc and compositing those scenes.

Audio may have not been even started yet but I wouldn't expect big changes there either apart from restoring original lines and fixing some sound effects.

All these kinds of suggestions could have a better shot at being at least considered if done for ROTJ:R when Ady begins work on that one... a few years from now I'd guess.

On the other hand, who knows? Someone, even this late could actually come up with a really good good idea that Ady may actually consider even if that meant a bit more work and a little extension to the release date. But since this one has been scrutinized to such high level already, I'd be surprised if a new idea actually made it.

meh...what do I know anyway.

What is even stranger is that terence mcgovern (storm trooper voice actor)

Did an episode of mythbusters.... Was it the same one with the bull in said china shop... heh that would be too weird.

Or did you do that on purpose?

Not at all. I didn't even know who he was or that he was on MB. Yep, weird.

I think you just quoted one of the worst audio edits in history to make audio edits in generall be seen as a bad idea... Unfortunately it is in star wars.

haha yes, I went to the extreme, but only to make a point about adding stuff just for the sake of it. ;)

I don't know, adding a word or a phrase or two during the freezing chamber or while they chase Leia could, in theory work. I'll give you that but going by what Ady has done so far I don't see it happening.

I think there was talk a while ago about adding some chatter to the rouge pilots during the Hoth battle if I remember correctly... Don't really know if I just imagined that or it happened, and if so, what Ady thought about it.

And just thinking about it -and going a bit off topic, sorry - The scenes added during the DS battle in ANH:R (New TIE fighters) make the rebel pilots go very silent all of the sudden for a long time. I'm used to it now, but it is a bit awkward, especially with how talkative they are during the whole attack. Don't know if it will be tweaked or even if it's possible for ANH:RHD or whatever it's gonna be called. heh.

But the key word was subtle.... Not bull in a china shop lol

FWIW, The Mythbusters busted that one. Turns out bulls are quite careful in a china shop! :D

Adding dialogue to the stormtroopers in ESB, to me, is one of those "Let's add something for the sake of it". That's what Lucas has been doing since 1997 and we all know how those changes suck on every single level.

ROTJ Vader's new "NOOO" anyone?

So, no.

Fortunately for us, Ady actually knows what he's doing and what needs tweaking and what doesn't. Unlike Good ol' George.

I may not agree with 0.01% of his decisions, but in the end 99.99% of ESB:R will be the best incarnation of Ep V. No doubt, blue SD bridge or not. ;)

If someone already knows this, or is actually capable of opening the vault and having a look at original drafts, notes and/or storyboards is Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalgo ( twitter.com/infinata ). It wouldn't hurt to ask him via Twitter I suppose. If a bunch of people ask the same question, he might just take the time to research and give an answer if he doesn't know for sure already.

FWIW, I always thought that tower belonged to a regular SD, not the Executor.

Ady has stated how it's going to be. Multiple times now.

Without even watching the original you still insist in coming back with more suggestions backed by your vague recollection of the original scene.

Input has always been a big part of these edits, but sometimes it comes to a point where it's just too much for a single little thing and begins to go in circles, and that happened here a while ago. I honestly think it's great you're so passionate about the Wampa sequence, but seriously, it's time to move on from discussion on it.

Let.

It.

Go.

Hey! Fantastic work so far as always Ady!

Something I've been thinking about since reading your plans for ROTJ + Prequels that might have already crossed your mind.

Would it be wise to just get rid of the episode numbers in the opening crawl? We all know Star Wars didn't have "Episode IV A New Hope" in the original screening so I was wondering if taking out "Episode IV, V & VI" from the crawl while leaving the subtitles ANH, ESB & ROTJ could make it more cohesive for the future regarding your Revisited project.

Thinking ahead a bit, and knowing full well that you already have a very rough draft/idea of what the prequels will be like, I wonder what would happen if mid way through you realize those three movies can only be salvaged by combining them into just two - or even one - prequel.

Having the OT without episode numbers could give you a bit more freedom when working on the PT and not put you under pressure (so to speak) to HAVE to make three different Revisited PT movies if in the end 1 or 2 are enough to tell the story.

Technically it's also no problem at all. The ESB:R crawl would have to be re-rendered and that'd be it since I guess the one for ANH:R would have to be redone in higher rez anyway.

Star Wars: A New Hope

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi

I'm sure some purists would have some sort of problem with this idea, but since this isn't and has never been a preservation project but what the SE's should have been, I see no problem at all in getting rid of the numbering by episodes.

Thoughts?

As do I.

Had he posted a new thread here in off topic saying the exact same thing I would have simply ignored it as I do with all the other religion-related threads. But by posting in a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with his crazy ass preaching shit he opened the door to be made fun of/ to be called a wacko.
