2006 OT DVD: Well today's the day...
Time
Watching Star Wars right now...
The quality has its ups and down. For the most part, these look better than most of the bootlegs I've seen, then every once in a while there will be a shot that just looks like ass that takes away from it. Still, right now the thrill of seeing an official release of the old school OT is outweighing any quality issues.
I went with the Best Buy set.
I put my HD rip German 97 SEs in the place of the 04 discs in this set, then put the 04 discs in the case of my old 04 set. I'm just going to give away my extra set of 04 discs.
I was going to pick up the lego game while we were there, but the girl I was with was giving me a ration of sh*t teasing me about being a f*ckin' nerd, so I just grabbed my Seven Samurai, SW tin, and made an exit before drawing too much attention.

MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)
Time
From everything I was able to observe, every alien race in Kotor spoke like 7 interchangable lines all at pretty set emotional inflections.
It didn't seen to have nearly the type of material that would be needed to make something that would come off halfway decent, especially over 3 films.
If someone has some archive of that material for me to look over again, I'll take a look, but from what I saw in the game, it seemed like it would have been a pretty hard sell to make work.

The crawls are redone already, (courtesy of MBJ).
The alien language dialogue is remixed to remove any forward spanish words.

The Special Edition (waiting for CG Yoda release of TPM) will have a few varying alien tracks.
I'm still on the fence about dubbing in new voice actors for the alien audio because although the lip synch could be improved, I've yet to see a fan redub of a character that was really spot on. There's usually just a sense of, some guy recorded this at home and spliced it in. If I recieved some type of voice over auditions from people where I just went "Wow, that's perfect", I would consider it.
Other things for the Special Edition of Balance include a little onscreen of discussion of just what the Sith are, between Qui-Gon and Anakin, in the place of the midichlorian discussion and of course:

PM Rikter about the originals... He usually hooks people up.

I'm working with ADYWAN and had some help from MeBeJedi on the Special Editions...

I guess the question I pose right now is, in the meantime, is there interest in a higher quality DVD release of the "Original (almost) Unaltered Versions" of Balance of the Force and The Clone War.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 <strong>REVISITED</strong> ADYWAN *<em>1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION</em>
Time
Well, the only way I could see the rain shot working would be this:
You'd have to find a rain element shot against a black screen...most likely from a behind-the-scenes on a DVD. Could be a pain to find one.
I also found this website: http://www.vce.com/ImageLibrary/wrs.html
If you could get larger resolution of a few of these, it just might work! Looks like you'd have to buy it from their store...hmmm

It'd probably be easier to create the element in Motion and comp it in using Final Cut or Shake.

.: Revenge of the Jedi 0.83 MS Edition :. (* unfinished project *)
Time
lol

Yeah, you're right. I copied and pasted from earlier in the thread and just kind of touched it up. I hadn't really looked it over much. I wasn't even really paying attention to their grammar before. This should be a little better:

STAR
WARS

Episode III
Revenge of the Jedi

The rebellion is doomed. The
Galactic Empire is nearing
completion of a new armored
battle station, even more powerful
then the first dreaded DEATH
STAR.

While the scattered remnants
of the Alliance are regrouping,
Luke Skywalker has returned
to his home planet of Tatooine
to rescue his friend Han Solo
from the clutches of the vile
gangster Jabba the Hutt.

It is a perilous time for the
small band of rebels struggling
to restore peace and freedom
throughout the galaxy....

Here's something I threw together pretty quick.
Just a tightened up version of your crawl, incorporating a few more elements of the original film's crawl.
Probably something along the lines of the crawl I'll use on Jedi.

POLL: WORST ACTOR OR ACTRESS IN THE PT?
Time
If you've seen on set, behind the scenes, yes, there was bad direction given.
He would literally tell them to slow their words and ennunciate everything (which no one in real life does to that degree).
Plus, giving some actors their lines the day they arrive on set, with no context, and sometimes, not even the costar to play off of, like the famous Terrance Stamp story, "I gave Natalie the day off." Holds up a stick with her face on it. "Just talk to the stick." "What's my character like?" "Umm... You're Bill Clinton... Action!"
Stamp attributes it to the worst, most degrading experience he's ever had working on a film.

POLL: WORST ACTOR OR ACTRESS IN THE PT?
Time
I blame the directorial and editorial choices for the performances.
How many directors get a bad performance from Samuel L Jackson, or Natalie Portman? Just one.
For a long time I had deemed Hayden, "Woodenhead" and my friends still refer to him as that, but after seeing some of his other work, and more importantly, alternate takes and screen tests from the prequels, its just not his fault.
He can act, he was just given direction like, "Now I want you to look away from her, talk a little slower, and ennuciate a lot more."
I think I feel sorriest for him of the prequel bunch, because he gets the most shit as an actor over the prequels, when the direction was really poor.

***The &quot;Darth Editous&quot; Episode V DVD Info and Feedback Thread*** - a work in progress
Time
I've got the banquet hall scene with SE effects completed in all but one or two shots.
I think we talked about that a long time ago.

Oh, and the easiest fix for the Emperor scene is to have him say "We have a new enemy... The offspring of Anakin Skywalker" or maybe combine McDiarmid saying an L sound with "Dook" from "Count Dooku"
