Star Wars: Deleted Magic (Released)

Watching the DM disc after being subjected to all the hype for Ep III reminded me of why I fell in love with the first three films. Thanks so much for all of your hard work.

One question, and forgive me if it's been asked before, but are you at all nervous about being sued since you used some interviews directly from the DVD set documentary? Since it's the most recent material on your disc, I'd say that it's the footage most likely to get you into hot water. I know you're not selling the discs and that Lucasfilm is fairly lenient on folks as long as they aren't trying to make a profit, but we're living in a very litigious time right now esp. when it comes to films.

DVD Cover Project

Now see if you wanted to make the covers look like studio ones then you'd just have an oversized photo of Harrison Ford's head (maybe even from an unrelated film) badly Photoshopped onto a bland background and surrounded by quotes from critics you've never heard of. Then you'd list chapter stops as a "mind-blowing special added feature!"

Mike,

Thanks so much for the work you're doing. I have friends at the Library of Congress Motion Picture Conservation Division and one of them told me that although ANH was added to the National Film Registry, Lucasfilm would only supply them with a print of the SE. They do have access to an original 1977 print (pre Episode IV) from which to make a copy, but have yet to actually pursue the matter. Even though it would be a negative made from a print, at least the original would survive in some form. I find it hard to believe that Lucas would completely destroy the film that made him a gazillionaire.

Anyway, fantastic work so far. I look forward to the final results. Keep the faith.

PG-13 Revenge of the Sith

There was a good point made at AICN (for once) that when George signed the licensing agreements for the PT before TPM came out, it was agreed that all of the films would be PG so as not to limit the audience. Apparently, he had to pull some strings to get AOTC a PG. Can he do it again, what with "Crispy Anakin" and all? I wonder...
