Star Wars - The Exhibition, London
Time
I was going to make the effort to visit this exhibition seeing as it's the 30th anniversary, but I had no idea it was as much that! As you say £16.50 is a lot of money for an exhibition, I'll just have to make do with London MCM Expo and Celebration Europe over the next couple of months, that is unless they drop the price of admission. In all honesty you've got more chance of George Lucas releasing the OUT on dual format Blu-Ray/HD-DVD with the Holiday Special on the bonus disc, then again maybe not

OOT on HD DVD
Time
Only time will tell, but in truth yes I do think the OUT will be re-released on HD-DVD [and/or Blu-Ray]. As far as I'm concerned the big question is how it will be released, only an idiot would release it in 4:3 letterbox widescreen on one of the so-called "next generation" formats; then again only an idiot would release it on DVD! It's all or nothing, we'll either see another 4:3 letterboxed widescreen version of the OT bundled as a bonus with yet another release of the 2004 SE or beautifully restored in 16:9 anamorphic widescreen as a release in its own right.

2006 OT DVD: Got mine!
Time
Yes all three, and one of the things I am most impressed with is the DVD menus; especially ESB. One thing I can't understand though is why they didn't release a boxset, but something tells me this won't be the last we'll see of the OUT; especially not with Blu-Ray and HD-DVD just around the corner!

calamari - Didn't I mention that my shipping was free?

Important Questions I need answered about original triliogy about to be released on DVD
Time
1) Yes the original image of the Emperor is back.

2) Luke says: "You're lucky you don't taste very good".

3) No you don't see the Wampa chewing on the bone.

4) Sebastian Shaw is [quite rightfully] restored to his former glory.

These answers are all 100% definate as I received my R2 set yesterday [09/09], on the whole I am very pleased with them

2006 OT DVD: Got mine!
Time

Imagine my amazement when I returned home from work yesterday to find that my OUT DVDs had been delivered from play.com that morning, at the moment I’m only about half way through ESB, but so far I would say that the quality is at least as good [if not better!] as all of the LD transfers that I’ve seen to date. I agree with the majority of you that yes it would have been nice to have seen them cleaned up and given the status they deserve, instead of being bundled as a bonus with a re-release of the 2004 SE, but you can’t have everything and for the time being I’m quite happy to have an official copy on DVD.

Now all I need to do is decipher wmgan’s instructions for producing a set in anamorphic widescreen

If the Prequels had been made first would they have succeeded?

Therein lies the problem, for me the struggle between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader has always been at the centre of the Star Wars universe, as interesting as some fans may find the back-story, to me the PT is just a series of spin-offs that with a little creativity (I use the term loosely) could be turned into a Sci-Fi trilogy completely seperate from the Star Wars universe.

Could you imagine going into the theatre in 1977 and having a dude in a Jar Jar costume, no pod race, a less impressive lightsaber fight and a very complicated plot dealing with trade disputes, senate meetings and midichlorians?

In a word, no! IMHO it just would wouldn't have worked, and I also agree with you that the only reason that the prequels have done as well at the box office as they have is because of the marketing campaign based on the success of the OT. I was born in 1984 and certainly don't consider myself to be old (unlike some of you ), I always ask myself whether there really is that much difference between someone of my age who appreciates the OT and those of a younger age who prefer the PT, it seems to be a very fine line.

Does anyone here use MSN?

If so it would be cool if people could post their usernames, mine is phaktion@hotmail.com. I've just had two of my wisdom teeth removed and am off work for a few days so feel free to add me to your list, I honestly have nothing better to do...especially seeing as I've just gone through episodes 1-12 of the first season of LOST in the last 24-hours

is there any Star Trek Enterprise fans here?
Time
I think Berman just said that mainly because it freed him to mostly overlook the previously established timelines and "sexify" the show with the half nude shots of T'Pol in the decon chamber.

Half nude you say...I think I must have missed that episode, damn! I really liked Scott Bakula as Captain Archer, but maybe that's just a throwback to my Quantum Leap days.

IMHO Enterprise was the only series worth watching, try as I might I couldn't bring myself to sit through a whole episode of TNG in the early 1990s. DS9 and then Voyager were a little better, but Enterprise was the first Star Trek series that I would actually look forward to viewing, and make a point of doing so. Although at the moment I'm trying to decided whether I am enough of a fan to shell out my hard earned cash on the DVDs...£274.99 for the complete collection! Maybe not.

IMPS The Relentless (Troops 2): A Dead Project?...or what?
Time
07.21.2005:

Due to the overwhelming responses and requests, here is a status update regarding our progress on Chapter 2 of I.M.P.S. The Relentless.

We are all still alive and haven’t been slashed from the face of the Earth. The last month and a half we’ve been wrapping up prior obligations separate from the IMPS project. Although the project was on hold briefly, Chapter 2 is now running smoothly. Now that other obligations (i.e. Comicon ) are fulfilled we are back on board full time (full time meaning: in-between our day jobs!)

We plan to wrap up and release Chapter 2 in 6-8 weeks. At this time, this is the closest estimate we can give you. Please keep in mind this project is a feature length film, hence one of the reasons it takes time to complete and release each chapter.

We thank you for your patience. We are working hard to bring you an enjoyable film of exceptional visual quality. It may appear quiet and that nothing much is happening- but rest assured an imperial storm is coming!

It is the first thing you see when you visit impstherelentless.com. I understand that we've now gone past the 6-8 week mark from the time this was posted in the News & Information section, but as they've already stated it was the closest estimate that they could give us at the time.

I'm with SilverWook on this one, Starship Exeter...
