Question: for S1-2, are you using the Original, Restored, or Remastered footage cuts? (I think there were three but I may be wrong and there’s just two, I can’t remember anymore XD) Only because the footage is cropped COMPLETELY differently on a few episodes, most notably The Flying Kipper - almost very shot in the restored version is cropped nearly two inches lower on pretty much every shot compared to the original, which really ruins a few of the scenes, not least the famous crash scene… Here:

Bumping again, only to ask if someone did in fact record that broadcast of Race For Your Life - you see, 4:3 is indeed the original aspect ratio for BOTH films - I have a 4:3 1080p .mkv of Bon Voyage but the uncropped 4:3 version of Race For Your Life is elusive as hell.

I have a 16:9 1080p .mkv of it (obviously cropped from 4:3, which means it’s lost almost a fifth of the footage!) but for some reason it’s almost flat impossible to find the original at that resolution, if at all. If it weren’t for that cam-cap a few posts back I’d think it didn’t even exist!

Thing is, the DVDs of both films not only crudely crop down to 16:9, but they’re also only at 720p which actually looks downright BLURRY compared to the 1080p versions. (It’s been mentioned a few times that the new master-copies are actually at 4K though, which I think we’d all LOVE to get our hands on…)

^ Yeah, is the release date estimate still good? April is nearly over and I’m pretty sure a few of us are legitimately shivering in anticipation - I know I am! ;-D

Gotcha, thanks! So, if it’s released as a downloadable… Would it be possible to release the audio as multi-track AC3’s or something, without the video? It doesn’t have to come packaged with the rest as I know that would nearly double the file size - it’s just that I ALWAYS seem to run into problems getting surround audio from video files, so if it’s just the raw multi-track soundfile it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I know it’s the Croatian dub, but I’ve seen it referred to as the “Serbian” version and nothing actually comes up when you search for the Croation version, so I thought I’d go with the most common name. ;-P

Tell you what, is there anything I could do to help? I only really have Gimp to do any still-editing with, but I do have iZotope RX if you want any additional touch-ups/noise removal on the audio. 😃

I had the sequels to this on VHS when I was a young 'un - “Mars” got it’s tape in a knot early on so I grew up on “Rescue”. Only saw the original last year - Glad I discovered it then, brilliant film but I would’ve been thoroughly ‘twamatised’ by it if I’d seen it when I had the others… I’m glad it’s finally getting the restoration treatment it deserves, looking superb so far! 😉

Where did you get the 5.1 audio from? I’ve spent the last month editing the dreadful Serbian dub of Worthless into a full HQ instrumental version, but I think I’ll need the original surround tracks to get the “interruption” segments (as I’ve seen them called) much more cleanly - you’ve probably noticed if you’re used the soundtrack version in your 6.1, but the OST release of Worthless is pretty true to it’s name - low-bitrate compression and missing a distressingly large amount of the Interruptions backings, not to mention the panning of some of the instruments is different…

Also, I’m new to this site’s mechanics - how will we be able to bask in the glory of your hard work when it’s done? Will there be a download link or torrent etc?
