Harrison Ford in "Solo: A Star Wars Story" - Amazing deepfake (up on youtube)

As far as I’m aware, FDSW were shunned from the site before they confirmed that subscribestars would see the film early? I may be wrong on that.

I appreciate you being civil, I’m only trying to defend a team that I think have been vilified unnecessarily. I understand the perspective about selling the access to the film, but it is really sad to be on this site and hear their name get dragged whenever they’re mentioned. They seem like nice guys and they put a ton of effort into their content. Disagreeing with how they’ve operated is one thing, but saying they’re shit and scummy is just not the case. They’ve got some phenomenal artists working on the edits and it’s quite rude to suggest that not only are FDSW shit, but in extention, all of their VFX artists who create that work are too.

Coke and filming new scenes for an edit aren’t exactly the same…

If i paid them and they sent me a copy, that’s selling the film. If I donate money towards the funding of the edits and they have a stream of it for everyone who donated, that’s a different situation.

The only reason they have a donation page, is the same reason Adywan or anyone else would have one. To receive some help towards funding some expensive equipment or scenes. If we wanna sit and make weird comparisons to drugs then we can do that i guess? But I’m sure you’re not incapable of understanding why they would have a donation page.

Nope, it’s absolutely not. As I said, if I donate money towards something and they share something with me as an early thank you, they’re not selling me the film. You’re just wrong, but hey, that’s okay. You must feel pretty hyped when you scroll through Spotify and think “wow! I own every song here! They sold it all to me!”

If their name wasn’t slagged off so much, maybe I wouldn’t have felt the need to come and defend them. Keep accusing me of being a sock because I disagree with you or have been watching how you’ve acted. I clearly know your quotes better than you do.

Guess you went back and actually saw you DID say that, although it “didn’t sound like” you, lol.

They’re not selling a movie. Saying they have no right to sell a movie is correct, except they’re not doing that, so…

It’s quite funny that you say nobody on this forum would give a shit about their work when you and others had a whole talk about using their footage, haha. Just gotta wait for those darn watermarks to come off right?

Ziggy was also heavily involved, not just yourself. “That watermark is stuck there, for now” is what you said in regards to potentially using their footage, although granted you also mentioned that you’d probably need an agreement with them, but I believe you only said that because you also acknowledged it was their commissioned property, not for use elsewhere.

There’s absolutely no scummy behaviour from them. They are creating NEW scenes, not editing footage that belong to a studio, and are accepting donations in helping to do that. All of the profits go towards the new stuff for the film and I believe it’s absolutely okay for them to make the finished product only available to the people who helped first. It’s the least they deserve. I’m sorry, but fan films like Spider-Man Lotus or Vader crowdfund, even though the subject matter is copyrighted, but when it comes to this, you just want to spin it as scummy.

In sharing their content, you’re in more of a legal breach than they are, my friend. And that goes for anyone who was involved.

All I’m saying is that I’m kinda sick of being in this forum and seeing FDSW’s name dragged through the mud or insulted or scoffed at every single time it comes up. Once again, they’re not scumbags, they’re fan editors like everyone here.

They may be treated like dirt from the people on this forum but I’m sure we’ll be seeing their VFX turn up in different edits that pop up on here eventually.

Jar Jar Bricks, among others actually leaked payed content and implied that if there wasn’t any watermark then it could be used. I’m just saying I think the way they’ve been painted as villains or bad dudes is just unfair. I totally understand about the potential risk of monetization but as I said, I don’t think it’s any different to how other editors on this site have also operated. FDSW have a page where you can donate to them filming new scenes and creating new effects, there’s nothing wrong with that and again, it’s no different to how others operate. It’s just a real shame because they always seem to try their best and are always asking for any help, they’re just editors and Star Wars fans.

Been a longtime lurker on this site, big fan of some of the content here, but I’m always kinda disgusted by how the majority of people on here have treated FDSW.
They were banned almost immediately from this community for absolutely no reason other than the fact that people here don’t want them to be able to fund their new VFX and shooting schedules. People on this forum stole their original VFX content, that does NOT belong to Disney, it belongs to FDSW, and it was behind a pay wall for it to be exclusive to the people who are helping them. What you guys did with that is actually illegal. So there’s no high ground there.

Pretty sure you guys attacked them for having an account on a streaming site that you don’t agree with, but they only had that account because the site itself would allow them to post their edits without fearing it being removed. There’s absolutely no political motivation to their edits at all.

If someone like MoviesRemastered, who I respect, can set up a fund for help with equipment and costs, it doesn’t seem right that FDSW got absolutely slated.

They make some great edits and they’re super ambitious, but this community treats them like trash. And you clearly like their content because you guys have stolen it more than once.
