Obi-Wan Kenobi: Refocused [RELEASED]

Interesting that you’re adding Qui-Gon to the final Ben/Vader duel. Is he going to say something like “he is the Chosen One,” as a way of giving an in-universe reason of why doesn’t Ben just kill Obi-Wan?

So every clip of Qui-Gon audio I used was from the clone wars tv show and I thought about something revolving around Anakin being the chosen one to keep Vader alive, but decided against it. What I ended up doing was using the audio from the scene where Yoda is talking to Jinn on Dagobah as light particles and he says “follow the light, the light will be your guide.” In the context of my Kenobi edit, this is when Kenobi is buried and gets the flashes of Luke and Leia.

Sounds cool! How did you solve the logic gap of Vader/Reva finding them on Jabim without the tracker?

Honestly for my edit I never explicitly explained that, but Mapuzo was an imperial occupied world so it doesn’t make sense for a ship to be able to escape undetected. The implication being the ship was spotted/followed with the potential destinations pinpointed, this was reported to Reva, and she was invited to Vader’s ship to give him the news. That might be a bit of a leap without the tracker in LOLA but for me it made sense.

OBI-WAN KENOBI: REFOCUSED

Hey all! If you’re like me, you were dissatisfied with the Kenobi show as a whole, but really enjoyed some of the moments from the series. So, I set out to make a more cohesive and canon-friendly edit of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

V1 RELEASED (I WILL FIX LOW QUALITY RENDER FOR V2) (comment or PM me for link)

V2 WIP - SUGGESTIONS WELCOME

Final runtime is 2:25:53

Major Changes:

 • Reva is no longer a Padawan who survived Order 66, just an Inquisitor fed up with her superiors

 • Qui-Gon talks to Obi-Wan throughout but doesn’t manifest himself until the end

KENOBI: A STAR WARS STORY [The Radical "Help Me Obi-Wan Kenobi" Cut]
Time

So the scene go something like:

Reeva contact Bounty Hunters / puts out bounty -> Obi-Wan sees they are being targeted -> They are on the run, Bounty Hunters are looking for him -> They run into alleyway, Obi-Wan slap the dude down -> Inquisitors arrive and confront Reeva -> Leia climbs up a ladder to the rooftoops, Obi-Wan is seen running up there already -> Inquisitor “Whispery-Voice” Guy marches through the streets -> Leia and Obi-Wan continues to run on the roof, and then Bounty Hunter starts to shoot -> and then some alterations to the overall pacing and tone of that scene. It doesn’t go on for way too long, and it focuses on Obi-Wan and Leia.

I really like this idea of Leia not running from Ben even though I had no problem with that plot point except for the slow chase. I might incorporate this into an edit im working on

Revenge of the Sith: Rebalanced - Version 1.4 Released! IFDB Approved!

I wonder what does it look like if it had Siege of Mandalore (With Ahsoka, Rex, Bo-Katan, and Maul), the microseries Clone Wars’ battle of Coruscant on land (How the Chancellor is kidnapped) and Fallen Order’s Order 66.

I combined v 1.4 rebalanced with mecha salesman’s 4 hour cut of revenge of the sith. It has everything you want except the scenes form fallen order. I could make a google drive and send you a link or something.

This was very enjoyable, and I have few criticisms outside of some minor quibbles. Namely, some of the transitions: I think you had left the establishing shot of the Senate before cutting back to TCW, after which then goes to the interior of the Senate with Palpatine at his post. Also things like Obi saying “who could have done this?” which would then normally cut to Anakin killing the separatists, now cuts to Asokha. Not exactly a mistake, but a removal the visual dovetail that existed in the base film. Sometimes the score contradicts itself during some transitions. However other times the transitions are seamless and I genuinely was caught off guard when the film had switched tracks, so to speak.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and criticisms. I admit there are few hiccups and choppy transitions along the movie which may disturb the the flow thematically. I did struggled a bit on where to fit each scene seamlessly as there was no clear cut chronological order towards the end the movie (not that I know of). As this is my first experience in editing, I’m hoping to improve further in my future version of the edit.

I think it is made better as a text with the inclusion of the TCW characters, the humanization of the clones through Rex and the pacifism displayed by Asokha that the jedi dogma keenly disregard in adjacent scenes. Darth Maul’s presence also helps tie the film back to the first episode thematically.

What would really bring it together is a companion fan edit that makes AOTC & the preceding necessary TCW episodes two acts of one movie.

This will need a whole new supercut.😉

Im not sure if you have seen this, but regarding no clear cut chronology of SoM and the end of RotS, here is a link you might want to check out: https://decider.com/2020/05/19/star-wars-revenge-of-the-sith-clone-wars-finale-viewing-order-guide/
