Your first reaction to Hayden is ROTJ
Time

My first reaction to Hayden in Return of the Jedi?

here's a little reenactment.

I'm watching the thing with my sis. We get to the final scene with the ewok celebration.

I see Christensen.

ME: .... What?

SIS: 8-|

ME:......................That can't be real. ...........That ain't real.

SIS: Dude, that's Hayden Christensen!

ME: No way

SIS: That's him all right

ME: No freaking way

SIS: Rewind it and see it again.

I hit rewind on the dvd player

ME: 8( ....... That's not true....... that's impossible!!

SIS: Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

---------------------------------------

but seriously, it was puk-a-rific. Horrifuckus, like all other SE and revisionism crap.

Meco Star Wars - 32 years later
Time

Disco happens to be one of my favourite kinds of music. It's the perfect rithm to dance to, in my opinion. My dad used to be a Dj during the golden era of private radio here during the late 70s and trough all the 80s. We have the original double lp from Saturday Night Fever (altough now it's broken, wore out from too much plays, shame..) among his vast lp collection. We didn't have this record, but when I first heard it some years ago I immediately fell in love with it. Star Wars came out when disco music was all the rage, so it should be natural that the two things would marry so well.

Check out this longer mix

and this

I really like how he played with all the different themes. One of my favourite renditions (if not THE favourite) is the Cantina theme. I could listen to that part all day.

Puggo GRANDE - 16mm restoration (Released)
Time

Just saw this yesterday, great work Puggo, it's amazing I got to see a film print of Star Wars 77, on dvd!

Yes, 16mm could look better, this is a poor print, faded, but... what the heck, I like it!

Of course there were more scratches in the initial and final parts of every reel, but that's common to all film prints.

When I was taken into the action, scratches and not-so-great colour disappeared completely.

During the final trench run I was watching with my eyes wide open, and when the Death Star blew up I went "yeaaahh!"(wich includes "yeah Luke made it!!" and "yeah original explosion!!".)

I don't know if it's my eyes or what, but I noticed reel two had slightly better detail.

As for the extras, I liked them both, nice to see how you repaired Greedo's subtitles. The menu was exactly like I expected it to be :D

Once again, Puggo, great dvd!

Finally thanks to ThrowgnCpr for helping me getting my copy.

...Time to see it again...

I found my Star Wars cassette:

Notice how under the copyright years, it says FULL CREDITS INSIDE...

...and there are none whatsoever. Unless they're saying that C-3PO is responsible for everything! ;)

Looks very similar to what I had fancied it to be like.. except for the inside "credits" of course.. such a random photo

STAR WARS Movies Animated

It's been so long... I think I need to re-read the thread to remember all that was discussed.... Has anyone decided what animation format this should be in? I hope we would find something that wasn't laughable.. Surely there is someone who can do a little CG animation. I'm sure I have no clue what I'm suggesting when I say that... But I am curious.

I read the whole thread today, and liked many of the various ideas presented. I don't have ideas of my own (I have a pretty poor imagination) but a point that has been talked about is the characterizations, with recent thoughts about Palpy. What about Anakin? It was previously suggested he should have J. E. Jones' speech patterns and overall OT Vader "attitude". I like it a lot, let's get rid of the "whiny kid", and have a character that, before turning to the dark side, is pretty much like Vader-only a good guy. A clever, sharp, daredevil pilot with slight anger issues. But a nice guy overall.

I wouldn't go for CG animation, it just doesn't sound right to me. I'd like to see some nice 2d animation (even if done with computers, so technically it still is Computer Generated Imagery); about the style... Return of the Jedi came out in 1983.. let's pretend these new animated prequels came out shortly after, let's say late 80's/early 90's, and use a cartoon style similar to that of the period...

And as for the voice acting, I'd love to do something myself, even the littlest part...

But for now let us all concentrate on plot and character ideas.

Pre-ANH bootleg telecine - a widescreen version (Released)

Thanks for the screenshots.

From glancing over the images, I can say that on the plus side this source doesn't have the huge halos/shadows on vertical edges, or the wobbly horizontal field misalignment that plague my source.

It does however suffer from a severe loss of detail from being too dark and very blurry, and is also more heavily cropped along the bottom.

is it me or is there a little error with the aspect ratio, too? (look at the cap with ben, d3bo and luke)

maybe it's a silly question, but isn't there a possibility, technically speaking, that the two sources could somehow be "merged" together?

Ok, I couldn't find Star Wars, but here are the very no frills ESB and ROTJ (the tape in both is modly, unfortunately...):

they're plain, yes, but they're nice. I suppose "Star Wars" had a similar design with a different picture, of course...

too bad your tapes are moldy, but there's still hope to recover them!

I read online it is possible to remove the mold from the tapes, although it's not an easy operation.

Thanks Ripplin, they're already on Photobucket, I tried to use the links for the thumbnails before but they just showed up as links. I'll try again.

Yes, thanks, I'd love to see the original artwork for the tapes, I actually looked everywhere on the web for them, with no result, until I finally came up with the idea of making them myself.

I don't know if I should make my own thread about this, since I had an idea that can be considered as a spinoff of this project.

Basically I transfered the RSO SW LP to a cassette tape, just for the sake of it. I thought that back in the day it must've had a tape release, so I "recreated" it with my trusty ole tape deck. I recorded it with a 90 min Chrome tape, with no noise reduction as I don't know exactly how to use it and how much will it actually improve quality. I must say it sounds pretty good, there is no distortion at all (at least not that I can hear).

But a tape release without some kind of cover artwork would be incomplete, now wouldn't it?

So here's what I did, inspired by the set's artwork: (btw, guys how do I make thumbnails? EDIT- managed to do it manually)

and here's how it should look, once printed.

I don't have a printer, so I just cheaply photoshopped it (you can tell because of the missing reflections)

Anyway, what do you guys think?

Alright, I got the set, I must say awesome job on enhancing the tracks!

Even if I currently have just cheap headphones and laptop speakers, I can easily tell that there's no frequency out of place. Woodwinds, brass, strings, percussions, timpani, they're all there, crisp clear.

Can't wait to listen to it on a hifi or at least the car stereo. The whole set is like chocolate to me, and I LOVE chocolate!

7FN's transfers are... wow. I have used vinyl before (well until I broke the record player) and I already know it sounds better than most cds, but man... the only noise present is due to the age of the records, and even that's barely audible!

That's coming from a guy that years ago used to listen to the White Album and it sounded like this : "deeear POP CRACKLE POP POP ..dence..."

So, bottom line, everybody, grab it while it's still around!
