Preserving the "German" Original Trilogy (Released)

With release of Harmy's 2.0 Version, are there any plans for the completely german release yet (intro, greedo scene, outro)?

The plans are there, the intro is mostly done and a lot has been prepared already. But it'll still take a bit until it all comes together. First of all Harmy and I still need to decide on the best way for him to get his lossless video to me. Also I'm planning on creating a few more audio options for the release, so there's still a lot to do.

But I don't get it... I've tested my German track with Harmy's final 2.0 workprint in Media Player Classic (which allows using an external file as the audio track) and it was in sync. How can it be it isn't anymore?

Edit: Sorry Harmy, you replied faster than I did ;) Yeah, maybe it happened during re-transcoding. I still have the German track in my Dropbox (although I'd like to remove that noise error at the end of the track first)... maybe we should just NOT transcode it to 192kbps? Does anybody have time to torrent the track, once I fixed it? But first we should check if my original file is in sync once included in the MKV...

@Laserschwert: Yes, I did transcode it, because I  wanted all the stereo foreign tracks to have the same bitrate. However, and I hope someone can confirm this, to me the German track seems perfectly in sync. Could it be because your download isn't finished?

I hope that it not being finished is the reason... as I can only watch the first 2 minutes or so, the best sync point to look at is the opening logo. But checking the other audio tracks, the spanish track is almost a second late. Strangely all the other foreign tracks are in sync... really weird. I hope it's fine once the download is complete.

I'm still downloading, but I've used µTorrent's stream feature to at least check out the first few minutes, and I'm bummed out now: The German track isn't in sync!

I have no idea how this happened... I've extracted hairy_hen's 70mm track from the Decpecialization 1.0 and synced my German track to it... how can it be that it's out of sync now? Damnit...

@Harmy: BTW, did you re-transcode the German track to 192kbps?

harmy brings up a very good point.

a 720p release of the data first would get people

something to work with first, in a much smaller

set, but still enough to work on.

Though I don't think that's what Harmy meant ;-)

I think it was just an example to point out that a 2k sized version of the raw version doesn't need to be in the terabyte region.

How do I add a BMP picture into the script to replace that one frame?

video = AviSource("c:\video.avi")

fix = ImageSource("c:\fix.bmp", end=1)

video.trim(StartFrame, FrameBeforeGlitch) + fix + video.trim(FrameAfterGlitch, EndFrame)

return last

"StartFrame", "FrameBeforeGlitch", "FrameAfterGlitch" and "EndFrame" have to be replaced with the according frame numbers, of course. This of course has to be incorporated into your existing script, so I don't know what kind of frame rate settings or other stuff you have in there.

And let's not forget the "improvements" and "enhancements" for the upcoming 3D abomination!  At least we have Raiders of the Lost Ark coming to us in IMAX to celebrate the restoration and BD release.

Raiders also has cgi "improvements", lol. likely, you won't see the theatrical release.

At least they took out the CGI jeep drop... the rest of the "fixes" are invisible anyway ;)

Oh, I was under the impression that the MKV would have all possible audio tracks and foreign dubs onboard as well... don't you think that a GB more or less wouldn't matter at that size?

Now I owe you something for already having your fixed audio track :-)

This one should fit with the video track without any further corrections if I'm not mistaken?

No problem ;) And it looks more like we have to make the German track available for download now. But I think you don't have the final version of the track (Harmy does), as I still fixed a couple of things.

And yes, I've checked it with Harmy's final workprint and it fits perfectly.

Correct. Only the AVHCD will have one foreign dub (probably Czech), so that there's space for people to replace it with a foreign dub of their own.

Nice :-) And does that "price" have anything to do with torrenting the thing?

On another note: Have you considered rendering the lossless video split into several parts, so that - in case of something being wrong - you don't have to re-render the whole thing? The only thing is, I'm not sure if your encoder allows for AviSynth scripts as an input (as that would make re-assembling the pieces very easy). Or is there some kind of AVI-joiner out there, which doesn't require re-encoding?
