Idea & Info: 'The Golden Voyage of Sinbad' - laserdisc preservation
Time

I sent the following privately to barhar, but never heard back.  Now I am opening it up to a wider audience.

I communicated with Ernest Farino, the publisher of Ray Harryhausen: Master of Majicks books (http://archive-editions.com/), who had a 16mm of the film at one point.  He said that the DVD is the original take, not the German satellite TV.  He also believed that the "reveal" occurs in the original take.  I am not so sure even from looking at the recent BD release.

Ernest Farino wrote, "The comment on the IMDb is incorrect-- the hair falling down is her real hair. At the time that Sinbad is carrying her, her hair has been swept up around her neck by the wind. When he sets her down and she stands and straightens up, that strand of hair simply falls down over her chest in a normal fashion. There's no digital enhancement. The hair happens to fall right over her breast, so it's easy to assume that it's a digital "add on" for coverup purposes. But it's not. The hair falling down is exactly how it was in the 16mm print I owned back in the late 1970s."

Anyway, he is busy trying to publish the 2nd edition of the Majicks set and is unable to research this further.  Is there anyway to obtain a copy of the German satellite TV version?  I am curious if there are other differences.  I will follow up Ernest afterwards.

Thanks.

Help: looking for... 'Army of Darkness' and other Various Cuts

I know that the extra scenes found in the TV Cut have been used in the Primitive Screwhead Edition, but that was before the TV Cut was finally, to my knowledge, released on dvd by two companies.

I believe it was a forum user that provided the TV cut to the German company, which got released to French and Australian copies.  So I'm not certain if the quality would be better than the Primitive Screwhead Edition.

Info: 'Dungeons & Dragons TAS' : The Requiem Project
Time

Just like I thought it's on Disc 5 of the BCI release.

From http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Dungeons-Dragons/6453

"Radio show style presentation of unaired episode "Requiem" featuring select original cast members"

IIRC, this includes the actress for Sheila doing Bobby and maybe Uni.  The rest of the voice actors vary in quality.

Apparently, US company BCI was shut down and Mill Creek now has the rights.  Mill Creek's version doesn't not have any extras.

Actually that scene is not censored, it is an alternate different take.

Are you sure about this?  I have never came across this bit before.  I have detailed books on Harryhausen and conversations with an expert, which none  revealed the alternative shot.  It'll be great if you can provide more info about this.

Sheena 1984 *RELEASED*
Time

I have been waiting to view this for a while, but been unable to.  I previously watched parts of the film before while traveling and thought it would be very campy (white haired villain, horse painted with zebra stripes).

However, this turned out not to be the case.  Sure it has some minor moments, but I think Peter Jackson's films are much worse.

As for the film, the presentation is very nice.  The colors seemed a bit red on my screen, but it most likely is due to the film's age.  (I have seen 35mm that looked far worse from aging.)  I have only listened to the 2-channel PCM and it sounds just fine.  I will listen to the others at a future date.  Great job Team Blu!

Going back to the movie, it had a decent budget.  I just can't see it being made today with the children playing young Sheena and the mass quantity of animals.  I didn't think acting was all that bad either.
