Maybe when Lucas wore that shirt (as reveled by that first video) prompted the two to have a conversation about that (if they didn't already which I'm sure they have), but with Spielberg doing this, maybe he will have a different point of view.

How does that make him removed from reality? He clearly wanted Greedo to shoot first in the SEs, they are his films and he knows what he wants from them. He doesn't simply change his films to meet the fans desires, but as he has stated, they are his films and his vision to make how he wants.
.

Whenever I hear fans who defend Lucas on the changes because it is something he couldn't do when making the OT, and this is the way he wants them now, I give one example:

1980 ESB/OOT: Luke DOES NOT scream after jumping from Cloud City after the Vader revelation

1997 ESB/SE: Luke DOES scream after jumping from Cloud City after the Vader revelation.

2004 ESB/DVD: Luke DOES NOT scream after jumping from Cloud City after the Vader revelation.

It is not called getting his vision across that he couldn't from 77-83, it is called tampering at this point, cause he seems to be going back and forth on this one!

Well obviously that one example is simply tampering, as he clearly could have done that in his oriignal cut. But that doesn't mean that his other edits aren't things that he had already wanted to do before and couldn't do (e.g. Jabba's scene in ANH)

Boba Fett was digitally inserted into that scene as he was not part of the original shoot, having been developed by Joe Johnston in 1978; he was filmed in 1996 and played by an ILM employee IIRC. And yes, he was put there for fan-related reasons.

Well I didn't know that he was only inserted in the 90s, I was under the impression that he was already in the shot. That still doesn't mean that he changed the films "just for the fans" as he had always planed to return to them and modify them, and a piece of evidence for that is t he fact that he shot the Jabba scene with the intention of returning to it much later to complete it.

I'm not trying to say that you should like the SEs of course, and I agree that there should be good quality versions of the OOT that are digitally remastered. I'm just saying that I don't see why people complain about most of the changes in the SEs so much and attack GL for it. You can like the SEs and still want the OOT digitally remastered.

Listen up Kurt, Star Wars might "his film" but its was "my money" that helped make it a classic and GL a gazillionaire....so enough about them being "his films"....without the fans he would of turned out to be just another has been in Hollywood long ago....

Well GL created the films, and they are his piece of art and his conception. Yes they were made successful from the fans buying tickets, dvds and merch but that doesn't make the films any less his.

I'm almost positive I heard/read somewhere that George Lucas put Boba Fett into ANH SE to "please the fans".

I'm sure there are other examples.

I believe you heard wrong, as that scene in ANH:SE was shot when ANH was shot (in the 70s). Also he wanted to do some type of CG but didn't have good enough technology, so he decided to wait to reinsert the scene for when he was to go back and make the SEs.

Although I happen to agree that that particular edit was a poor choice and should be reversed in the next SE, and I hope he has changed his mind about that scene. But that doesn't mean that if the Greedo shooting first edit is in the final edit that I will hate GL for it and think that he is an asshole, as it is his film that I'm a fan of, not a community project.

Info Wanted: A Prequel version of "Deleted Magic"?
Time

I’ve been lurking this board for quite some time and I’m a big fan of “Deleted Magic,” “Building Empire,” “Returning to Jedi” and am looking forward to JD’s upcoming “A New Hope” version.

I have looked through the boards and have seen no discussion about doing a Prequel version of this type of documentary, and I recently watched Episode III again and it got me into looking at starwarz.com’s section of deleted material and T-bone’s site has multiple pages of cut material. If it were to be done in the light of JD’s projects it could also include the official deleted scenes reedited into the film.

Also there is a chance for additional material to be added, because if I recall correctly there was a webdoc or 2 mission from the ROTS DVD that could be added to a “Deleted Revenge” type project.

I have no history of making such edits and if no one here has any plans to take up such a project then this would probably be a good opportunity for me to get into it, also I could use some advise and help from other members here.
