@ nirbateman: Which DVD files do you mean? From the LD preservation if I remember right I think this are the DVD files (VOB,BUP..) and not a rip.
I see what I can do, I was happy to see the movie in it`s original colors, so I don`t know whether the Disc has better quality as other resources.
@ nirbateman: Ahh right, I remember the Aladdin case..sad but true what makes the Disney Company with its old masterpieces :-( money makes first and the most of the people don`t know and care about it.

Oh my god, I have seen the DVD of BatB only once or twice, have in shock not registered this mud-scene ;-)

Yes the old VHS cassettes are stored away, unfortunately there are all in full screen.

There is also a preservation of the LD version of Beauty and the Beast, perhaps from one of this forum I don`t know anymore in case of one is interested in this I can manage to upload it or so...I was glad to see this in its original colors. I was so angry about the changes in the first DVD version so I remeber one rug in the castle is deep red and on the DVD was like rosy or even pink! Sorry but that is too much for me.
So goes on with The Lion King, its hard to believe they changed its colors from nature earthy complexion to a "i look now like a brand new TV animated movie". For the first DVD version some scenes have been changed like the crocodiles in Just can`t wait to be king and the waterfall scene with adult Simba and Nala. Furthermore the cloud in heaven which Simba runs afterward after his dead father appeard have been erased for the new 3D presentation in cinemas an so for the BluRay release. The sound is also remixed and not so powerful as on the laserdisc versions.
It would be great to see this as a preservation!
Yes, indeed this would be extremely awesome. I am also very interested in this..would love to do it (at this point I have very little experience in PC sound working stuff..) but unfortunately i think I haven`t the right equipment for this in case you get the CD-roms..
By the way is there a comparison of the BluRay release track and the track of the DTS Demo disc of JP III? I haven`t heard the BluRay yet. I own the RC2 DVD with only Dolby Digital and the dynamic level of the Demo Track is sort of outstanding great and get me goose bumps ;-)
Unfortunately both German versions, the theatrical copy and the home video, are the cut versions and identical..I compared several of the most debated scenes, but they are missed :-(
Finally, perhaps may be the Finnish TV version the right one?!
So watch out, I have a copy of a VHS version of the movie but i bought this when the first copies of this film were already available. So I think this must be the cut version. BUT I have also a copy of the (I think) theatrical version. This tape was a gift to me in that time the movie was still aired in cinemas! I write about the versions in German..
So if you tell me explicit which scenes are concerned, cause I didnt figure it out from the wikipedia content I will watch this tape again and look if its the uncut one..

Mee too..I`m looking forward especially for the Lion King Laserdisc preservation for a long time..I dislike that changes on DVD versions, like "flashy" colours or credit or logo or something else.

I had found on the internet a 2 CD-Version of a Laserdisc preservation of Lion King but the file is broken and the releaser is probably since years no longer on. So i`d tried to repair the file but failed. Also i didnt find someone who has this file..
