It’s 10,000 Jedi actually.

Still, that’s an absurdly low number. My own home town – which is rather modest-sized, I might add – has more people in it.

All Jedi?
How many cops do you suppose there are on the not as densely populated planet of Earth? It seems like a really low number of people to police even one planet.

Would you want to see Anakin or Obi Wan in the new trilogy, portrayed by their PT actors?
Time

My knee-jerk reaction is: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo.........0000000000oooooOOOOO!"

But as I think about it, Hayden and Co under the direction of a director that can direct? Yeah... That could probably work out. I still kind of hate to think about the PT getting legitimized by later, better films, but if we're stuck with them anyway....

Han - Solo Movie ** Spoilers **
Time

I don't care if they recast, and I don't care if it's not rated "R." All I ask is that it not "explain" the origins of anything. If they simply make a movie about that time Han and Chewie were tricked into smuggling slaves in the Corporate Sector that one time, with no other connections to anything that happened before or since, I would be perfectly happy.

Anakin's official history

The answer is almost always, "Because George Lucas was working without a story bible and was not very good at fitting things together on the fly." Other then that, there have been numerous cringe-worthy retcons over the years that explain all of this. Now that those retcons have been relegated to legend status, feel free to just make up a theory. No matter how crazy it seems, it won't be less believable than what they are sure to inevitably come up with.

The PT's influence on today's movies
Time

...and _that_, ladies and gentlemen, is what we ultimately got from the PT. A way to more accurately measure how bad a film is. Prior to '98 we had to say things like "It was Ishtar bad" which was no real shorthand at all since nobody had seen it to know what you were talking about. The PT was the horrible failure to be an entertaining movie that nearly everybody, everywhere saw at least once. You are now able to instantly convey exactly what you mean when you say, "That movie was Phantom Menace bad."

...Which incidentally, you get to say alot these days because it made a billion dollars, so they keep making variations of it. :/

The simplest means of fixing the PT
Time

It seems like you are asking for the Fall Of The Jedi edits. They, (and similar Edits,) have made the PT as watchable as they're ever going to be. I'm sure there are a million little things I've missed, but FOTJ edit basically removes most of the cringe-inducing moments and the moments which contradict the OT. The FOTJ edits are house canon for us.

Are there any new Star Wars Books coming out soon? a general book discussion thread

Ok I've been biting my tongue with you but can't anymore durawhatever "Do they call you anything besides STUPID ?"

Of Corse the books are still around but WHO WANTS TO READ THE SAME BOOKS OVER & OVER AGAIN you twit ? The EU story has ended and was erased and is DONE, FINISHED, OVER. Because that's what King George decided after taking the money from the books profit for years.

No Timothy Zahn "CAN NOT" wright more new books in the Star WARS EU galaxy ! There's a little thing called licensing "you have to have permission". If he dose it without permission his ass will be in court faster than a Manhattan minute trust me.

DUH REALLY !! Their Fiction ????? We all thought it was REAL . My God you really need to put the crack pipe down!!!!!!!!!

It dose mean a "goddamn thing" because as I said before the EU story as we knew it ended with out a end of some sorts, right in the middle of the story. The last Book the "Crucible by Troy Denning" left us hanging and that's how it will be, its DONE. Its like when they end a TV series without ending it, it sucks !! Will we live and move on "of course we will" but we still feel cheated after supporting them after all these years with our hard earned money & time.

Not sure how old you are durawhatever but maybe someday when you grow up you might just comprehend why it pisses us off. I've already moved on, but I just couldn't take the fu#$ing stupid shit you were saying anymore you dumb shit !!!

Hey Pancakes told you ! ;) Now I'm done and "I feel much better" LOL

I got my answer and I'm gone. I'm sure that makes durawhatever happy LMAO

Super rantingly, typo-ee angry, or doing a character. Can't tell which.

When did you realize the Prequels sucked?
Time

I tried so, so hard to like them. For Menace, it the first scene where the alien mouth movements don't match the words, and then didn't get any better. I went to see it four more times to give it a good solid chance of growing on me. It took nearly a decade for it to become the most "Star Wars" of the prequels. "Star Wars" in a Jedi way

For Clones I camped for three days and it was a good time. As much fun as the camp-out was, the movie itself? The crowd at the theater I was at was dead silent walking out. Some uncomfortable laughter. This were going really wrong for Star Wars at the point, and all of the adults in the audience knew it.

For Sith, I just read the book. It was like a good soap opera set in space. Mostly forgettable, but not really "bad" in the way the other two movies were...

... until I deliberately sat down to watch it after seeing the RLM review years later. What a stinker. I laughed and laughed, especially during the scene were Anikan tells Padme she looks beautiful, and then she turns to the camera sporting one of the worst make-up jobs in cinematic history. I fell asleep twice during Anikan vs Obi Wan, but stuck to my guns and backed it up each time so I could watch every single second. Needless to say, it did not redeem the trilogy.

After that I went back and read the books for all three of them back to back and discovered that Menace sort of worked as a novel, but the Clones novel was actually worse, somehow, than the movie. Sith, as a novel, was totally ruined by the actual movie and the bookmark is still in it on page 127 to this day where I stopped reading.

S5 and S6 of the Clones Wars has sort of supplanted the movies in my head canon, but I do occasionally watch the Fall of the Jedi edits.

4K restoration on Star Wars
Time

Damn, sorry to see that I was late to the digital vs physical "debate" I would have chimed in and pointed out that everyone was wrong and that both types are digital copies merely stored on different types of medium.

Anyhoo. I was under the impression that the SE would always be canon and that OOT would be for historic and/or archival purposes. If instead of "Star Wars" or even, (ugh) "A New Hope" they simply called it, "But remember that this one doesn't count!!1!" I'd still take it. Get that sucker restored and archived for fuck's sake already!.

EDIT to add: ...and honestly, just slap a Dinsey sticker on Harmy's editions and pay that guy what he's worth so I can just go buy a copy without risk. That would be perfectly acceptable.
