Looks really good so far.
The progress is slow unfortunately.
There were ongoing problems with the scanner. The focus motor was failing, and then after that was repaired, we had another problem that required the entire optical block to be sent away. That caused a build up of commercial jobs waiting to be scanned, which pushed the SE scan back.
It is still in progress, but I donāt currently have an ETA, the scanner is running 24/7 to try and catch up with the backlog.

I know I missed the deadline, but unfortunately, Iām gonna have to put this project on hiatus for a while. Not permanent, itās just that Iāve had a bit of a rough month and I feel like Iāve bitten off a bit more than I could chew at the moment. So Iām gonna just put this aside for a little bit, do some other things, then when Iāve got a bit more experience and maybe a little bit of help, then Iāll come back and finish this. Iām sorry I said Iāll post something by the end of April only to put the project on hold. If any of you are interested in the project, PM me and I can give you whatever progress Iāve made so far. Again, really sorry about this, I just felt like I should stop teasing you all with delays and just be honest.

Iāve color corrected the first reel of poitaās 1997 SE scan, which also serves as a color reference next to the technicolor references for my regrade. Here are the Tantive IV shots and a few Tatooine shots as a bonus:
That looks wonderful, but just a question: If itās the 1997 SE, how come you didnāt match the colors to the Laserdisc? Iām not complaining, it looks great, but just a bit curious.
Because the laserdisc colors look nothing like the theatrical colors of the 1997 SE, which was color timed using a technicolor print as a reference.

Okay, I kind of lied about this being done for good. I made a mistake when implementing the selective color corrections in some scenes. When adjusting the colors for scenes with lots of flames, I accidentally forgot to check if work was needed in the explosion that occurs after they leave the Tech Noir, and the explosion and burning photo in the future flashback. After looking at these scenes, I feel I shouldāve done some selective work in them as well.
Does anybody who already PMād me care about this, or do you not want to bother? (the changes wonāt be massive by any means, I just think the flames look too bright and yellowy in some shots)
I mean, if you feel thereās room for improvement, then go for it. Iām interested š

I feel Iāve done everything I can with it at this point. From the evidence available to me, this regrade seems to be extremely accurate, though not perfect, of course. The big issue with accuracy is that no two prints wouldāve been exactly the same, and the specific things that would be consistent are things that I canāt replicate without having more complete references as well as making this a shot by shot correction. It also doesnāt help that the Blu-ray transfer doesnāt like being conformed to nicer colors, so the things that donāt look 100% in the ballpark like the Tech Noir will just have to stay that way. That said, Iām very happy with how this all looks, and I truly believe that what Iāve done is nearly as accurate as can be achieved with this Blu-ray transfer.
Iāll try to get this new regrade encoded in the next few days, and then Iām going to stop hosting the old regrade and put this one up in its place.

Alright, the DVD5 version is finished. Itās a bare-bones release at the moment (just the film, no menus or anything), but when the Blu-Ray is finished, then I can start improving on it. Cover still in progress (Iām lazy š). PM me for the link.
Alright, while the Blu-Ray is being finished, the DVD5 version has been completed and is being uploaded (Thanks to MangoWolf for allowing me to make it). Iām working on a cover art as well, so stayed tuned.
I really like the layout of that box.

Honestly I didnāt see this in the cinema, was incredibly busy with work at the time and didnāt get round to it. I would not be surprised if was there in the theatrical release, Dunkirk had a blanket yellow tint in the cinema, I confirmed that with my own eyes. I definately think it looks much better without the blanket yellow tint though.
Thatās fair. It does look nice.
I donāt know. I saw it in theaters twice and the yellow tint was there both times, so I think itās just part of the color correction. Still a good job, though.

Hey, guys, sorry for the lack of updates. I was working overtime this week. On the plus side, Iāve gotten the biker bar scene finished, so Iāll post pics (maybe a video) tomorrow.
Alright, small update: Having a few issues with interior shots, but otherwise going smoothly. Will post more pics by tonight.
This has always been something Iāve always had on the backpedal, but Iāve always wanted to actually do. To make a long story short, Terminator 2ās color correction has always bugged me with every version. Whether it be with the VHS, the DVDs, the Blu-rays, theyāve always looked off to me. The new 4K version looks better, but they also did a lot of revisionist stuff with that that Iām not too keen on. So imagine my shock when I watch the trailer and see the colors and how much better they are there.

So since I also acquired the Russian full-frame DVD recently as well as have been messing around with DrDreās ColorMatch tool on some other projects, I figured āWhy not color correct the film to match the trailer?ā
So thatās exactly what Iām doing.
