Hello Everyone!
Its my first post here, so "here goes nothing......"
Firstly, I must say a H U G E thank you to ady for his tireless and amazing work to date! For me, personally, ANH-Revisited is by far the definitive and most superior edit. I was literally watching a film I have seen (many hundreds of times before) anew. By the end of the film I was virtually going to punch the air shouting "YEAH". Happy childhood memories of sitting wide-eyed in the cinema in the seventies were gladly relived.
Soooo, to say I'm a tad excited about Empire is a bit of an understatement. I know some of the posts about the upcoming changes get a bit heated ("rather touchy, aren't they??), but it its half as good as ANH, then boy are we all in for a real treat.
It would be rather nice to have had a Star Wars Day release, but as all of us revisited fans know, this has been a long and complex project. Best to be calm and patient and to it right the first time round. Nobody wants to see another abomination like the "special" editions lol.
I know its been a long road of ups and downs, highs and lows, personal triumph and loss, and (I hope I can say I speak for all the fans), we truly do appreciate the time and effort that has been put into making an already amazing trilogy EVEN BETTER.
Secondly (and shorter.......ly)
I'm also really looking forward to ANH HD, it looks stunning in lower resolutions so this will be visually breathtaking. I agree that the lightsabre duel worked better without music, partly to showcase Ben Burtts legendary Sound Design, but also any music there seems to distract from the tension of this slower but brilliantly choreographed sequence. Personally, I think the changes originally made were perfect, and shouldn't be cut back. (more work I know, but think of the special editions!! This is why happens when you tamper with perfection lol).
However.....
There was one itty bitty little change to AHN which wuld be nice for the HD version. Red Leaders apparent use of the force during the Battle of Yavin. I of course refer to him stating his been shot in the starboard engine just BEFORE he then shot in the offending engine. A bit of jigger pokery (a technical term apparently) might be needed so, for example, a TIE takes out that pesky engine, then we have the "ooh I've been shot in me engine" bit, then Vader hits him again, causing him to spin and crash. Just an idea.
Anyway........
Thank you ady and everyone who is helping you. May your excellent work continue
