Thank you. Now we just need a post from DigMod to tell us how to do. Thanks again!
Thank you. Now we just need a post from DigMod to tell us how to do. Thanks again!
I actually did sync english subtitles to TCH a while ago for my own use, send me a message if you need it.
Well Yuri_Kenobi, of course I need it š But Iām not the only one. I think lots of people need it, and Iām sure DigMod would be happy to add a subtitle file to TCH. So please, make them available in this topic so we can all enjoy them. Thank you.
Hi DigMod, I think I wasnāt clear enough, sorry about that.
By subtitles I meant only ENGLISH subtitles !!!
There may be 7 billion of people who donāt have English as native language, but most of them will still be able to watch and enjoy an english movie IF it has english subs too. That was my whole point. š
All Hal9000 SW releases have english subs. Rise of the Rebellion has english subs. Only TCH doesnāt.
Hi, how can we check if we have v1, v2 or whatever ? Iām supposed to have v2, but Iām not sure.
Still looking for subtitles BTW : there are only about 7 Billion people on Earth who donāt have english as native language, so⦠^^
In my version there is a funeral and Padme lives.
She has a history of using decoys, she faked her death.
So she killed one of her decoys and put her in the open coffin?
Now thatās professional commitment.
Thatās a good breakdown of the dilemma. Fortunately a version of LOE exists with both endings. However, youāre right that the overall edit of Ep3 was crafted with that end in mind.
OMG, I didnāt even notice there was a LOE āAlternate Endingā version!
frenetically clicks on the download context menu line
has to wait for hours for the zip
Screams āNOOOOOOOOO!ā
^^
Time for me to comment, and thank Hal once again for a mind-blowing job on these edits ! š I think we donāt emphasize enough how much time and effort is put into all this. āLabour of loveā may be an understatement.
I have also read some of the first pages of this thread, and I would like to comment especially on the Padmeās surviving topic, as it may be the most debatable point of the whole experience.
Iām among people like Malastrana and others who believe that Padme should remain dead (well, not dying because of the ridiculous ālosing the will to liveā droid line which should definitely be replaced, lol, but for other reasons).
I also understand Halās reasons and his impossibility to revert that change even if he wanted to, because he basically built this whole episode (maybe even his whole trilogy) about the idea of Padme surviving. It was a bold choice for sure. But in the end itās a choice that I wouldnāt have made personally.
Hereās a couple of reasons why I think Padme should remain dead :
Of course itās very tempting to go towards the ideal of consistency between trilogies. But here itās done at a great expense, so in the end I think the losses overcome the benefits. There is no perfect solution : either Padme dies (which creates a minor inconsistency), or she lives (and then there is no funeral). But Padme dying may be the lesser evil.
Iām very grateful that Hal did such a great edit anyway, and of course if we donāt like some of his choices we are always free to watch other edits. I guess the perfect Ep.3 edit doesnāt exist yet. Hal mentioned L8wtrās edit, but even if it was still available, it would be DVD resolution, and in 2020 I would generally not watch anything below 1080p, especially for Star Wars movies ! š
Episodes I through 3 are on V6.
ANH is on V2, with V3 planned.
ESB is on V3, with V4 planned.
ROTJ is freshly on V2.
TFA is on V4.
TLJ is on V4.
TROS is on V1.
Thanks, that helps a lot! Iāve been able to successfully check all episode versions AND get Yub Nub v2. Happy!
You may hate this question but⦠any vague ETA for ANH v3 and ESB v4 ?
Once again, thank you for all your work. š
Could somebody help me answer this ?
Actually my question was also how to know if we have the latest versions. How could I compare the versions on my hard drive to the versions on your Drive ?
There should be a way to differentiate versions.
At the very least, we could differentiate them by exact size.
Thanks Hal. Actually my question was also how to know if we have the latest versions. How could I compare the versions on my hard drive to the versions on your Drive ?
As for āwhereā to make them available, may I suggest you try MEGA instead ? š
Hi guys, how can we easily keep track of Hal 9000 versions, and be sure that we have the latest version for each of his Star Wars fan edits ?
So far I have :
EP 1, 2, 3 (but which versions ?)
EP 4, 5 [CSE] (but which versions ?)
EP 6 [CBE, Yub Nub] (in progress, itās not available at the moment because Hal is updating it)
EP 7 [Restructured v4]
EP 8 [Legendary v3]
EP 9 [Ascendant] (but which version ?)
I think a table with all the latest versions and their dates of release by Hal would be ideal. š
Hi guys, I like those new improvements š
Allow me to insist on this: somebody PLEASE provide subtitles for this one. If Iām not wrong I have subs for all other Star Wars fanedits by Hal9000 and DigMod. Only this one hasnāt them, so I canāt watch it properly.
For me and all other people on Earth who donāt have english as native language, this would be a much more important improvement than any reworked beginning, beautiful as it may be.
DigMod, I hope youāll consider it, because I canāt wait to really enjoy TCH. Thanks in advance! š
There were subs for RotR, thatās for sure. They were posted in the other topic, but the link is down now.
As for TCH, I havenāt seen any subs in this topic, but Iām glad if you say that somebodyās been working on them.
Can somebody help with any of these two? Fingers crossed!
Hi everybody. Iām looking for subtitles for this fan edit (I canāt watch it without, sorry š¦ ).
Would somebody have them, or would somebody be up to the task, please?
English would be perfect, french would be a nice add-on.
Thanks in advance!
PS : also looking for subtitles for āRise of the Rebellionā (they do exist but they arenāt available anymore in the corresponding topic). Thanks again!
Hi everybody. Iām looking for subtitles for this fan edit. They were proposed 2 pages ago by @MalĆ Strana , but they are no longer available to download. So:
Thanks in advance!
Wow, such a nice reply! I really appreciate. THANK YOU.
Duly noted your info about the viewing order, Iāll have to think this through before the big moment.
Thank you so much for even recommending other peopleās edits! Such honesty is truly amazing. So I take it that I should try to get:
Totally understand the x264 part, makes sense, no worries at all. FYI and for hypothetical future releases, x265 aka HEVC allows for 35-45% of size reduction without any visual loss, both in objective and subjective tests. More info is available online.
May the Editing Force Be with You! (āI have a good feeling about thisā⦠š )
Hi Hal9000, and congratulations on your incredible work!
Iām a Star Wars fan since 1977, and Iād like to introduce my beloved GF to the whole Star Wars saga in real ātheaterā conditions (we are lucky to have a home cinema, and we are in lockdown, soā¦). Since the original movies hold some big inconsistencies that you accurately described, your edits sound better for a first-time viewer (that is the most important point for me: to be able to watch them as āreal moviesā without ever noticing that theyāre fan edits, except for the credits of course).
Here are some quick questions (sorry that I didnāt go through the almost 800 previous comments).
What viewing order would you recommend with your edits? With the original movies I was leaning towards Machete order, but do your edits allow for a real Ep.1ā>Ep.9 chronological order? And would you leave Ep.1 āto be viewed separatelyā like Machete, or would you include it in the whole āsaga marathonā?
Same question for the two SW stories: how would you include them in your viewing order?
Iām assuming, maybe wrongly, that all your 720p/1080p edits are x264. Will you consider x265 10bit in order to reduce size without losing quality?
Thanks again!!!
