Can't wait to watch these but personally I'm REALLY looking forward to Return of the Jedi. Again, thank you for the hard work Dre.

I'm curious about ROTJ as well. But mostly because it's still up for debate if Dre's technique will benefit Jedi as much. It also doesn't seem settled whether or not the PAL or NTSC disc is ideal for that film.

On another note: Has Harmy made any comment about this work, yet? He says that even with all of team negative's 35mm sources, he will still need the GOUT here and there. Surely this project would be of great interest for that purpose.

I would assume this project would be an asset to Harmy's stuff. I think Harmy is just super busy these days though.

Star Wars 1977 releases on 35mm

Mr. Poita, I'm sure you already know this cause it's obvious. But ALL THE WORK you guys do to save star wars, you, Harmy, Verta, TN, etc. is greatly appreciated by all us lurking fans of these here forums and other websites. Just gotta say thank you. I'm sure there are a lot of people like me who don't post much, but our excitement is through the roof with all of this stuff. You are greatly appreciated.

team negative1 - star wars 1977 - 35mm theatrical version (Released)
Time

Thank you so much for the preview. All of your work is greatly appreciated. Aside from issues already discussed, I think this is looking fantastic so far!

I have a weird kinda question though about something. At about 6 mins into the reel one preview of star wars, there's the shot of the storm troopers pursuing the rebel scum down the corridor in the Tantive into some smoke. At the end of the shot there's a storm trooper on the right side of the frame who fires 2 one handed shots into frame right. In the preview, I hear the shots, but I don't see them. I'm not sure why that is. Is it just my crappy monitor? I've noticed in some other projects there seem to be some extremely faded blaster bolts against a white background, so maybe it's just some sort of contrast issue?

I've seen these movies a million trillion times, but I'm too young to have seen these movies in the theater, and I've never seen the original theatricals on 35mm ever. I'm just wondering if maybe those blaster bolts were added at some point. They are in the GOUT, my laser disc, and every tape, I think, I had when I was a kid. Super curious about that.

Again, thank you for the preview and all the work. Whenever I see previews, stills or clips from these 35mm projects, I feel as though I've never actually seen these movies. :)

Yeah, first of all, this is awesome. Excellent work here. And thanks so much.

I've been following this thread for a while, but forgive me if it's already been brought up and answered, but will your final mkv be bluray compliant? I'm assuming it will be, but I only wanted to ask because I'm really excited for this.

Also do you have any plans to maybe do a DVD9? I guess it might be kinda silly to do an SD version of these, but I'm just curious.

Again, super cool project, really looking forward to seeing these on my big screen.

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1
Time

I've been lurking these threads for a long time now, and I wanna make a comment about what you guys are talking about here, cause I never do...and I'm bored.

When I was in...9th grade, I was lucky enough to be invited to see the 97 Special Edition of Star Wars before it was released, out here in LA. I think it was a Star Wars Insider thing...anyway, honestly, it was one of the best times I've ever had at the movies. It was Star Wars on the big screen! And Boba Fett was in it! And people were getting rowdy and everyone was really enjoying it and it was just an amazing thing. It was beautiful to be in a dark theater with hundreds of other Star Wars nerds watching the movie and cheering and all that stuff. HOWEVER...nobody told us at that point...or at least I didn't know, that the original negatives had been butchered for it. And I didn't realize, that the plan was to change the movies forever.

See, I think that's the real problem isn't it? Like the Special Edition exists. Fine, why not? Fun stuff. But to try and eliminate the movies as they were in their original form...is frankly really strange. In fact, the GOUT seems to me like a big middle finger to the fans that have been asking for the originals. I don't see any reason not to release the originals, and honestly not doing so is really disrespectful to the craftsmen and women who created all those wonderful sets and painted backgrounds and puppets.

Another HUGE THANK YOU, to Harmy, and Team Negative, and everybody else involved in these restorations. And thanks to all you cool dudes who post on these threads and keep this website going, giving me fascinating and funny stuff to read and watch.
