Disney doesn't believe in restoration. Look at the Fantasia blu ray. They'd rather replace things than fool with working with what they have. Disney does the bare minimum to sell their products. What is so interesting is how they will talk about how great their restoration work is, and they'll show a before and after wipe with boosted color. That shit was impressive 30 years ago, but every kid with a freeware video editing program can boost colors.
It would be so awesome to have Criterion releases of Disney films, but that's unlikely.
It would be even more awesome to have Criterion releases of the OT.

where do you find hard to find laserdiscs if not ebay because looked at another site that says it has hard to find laserdiscs. but the laserdiscs of halloween 4 and 5 with the ultra stereo tracks aren't on there how rare are these laserdiscs?
Both those laserdiscs are listed at LDDB for $15 each
I did not see them there, can you PM me a link?
DJ, let me know what you find. Maybe we can work something out where we can go 1/2's on the purchase to get this done.
:)
Thanks, I just went to LDDB again and see no buy option anywhere on either part 4 or 5, so I need to see actual purchase links, but I am not seeing any.
Apologies
had another look and the prices listed are 'past' selling prices. The bit above says shop availability which is zero so at the moment. I haven't used it in so long I didn't realise they tweaked the format (it only displayed current items for sale originally)
not sure if you're on facebook but there are a couple of great Laerdisc pages on there with a lot of guys (US based) selling titles
I have feelers out already on a few FB pages for these. I will keep you all posted.

Is there ANY chance in hell someone has the P&S US LD versions of Halloween 4 & 5 that contain the Ultra Stereo mixes on them? These do not exist anyplace else but the LD and they should be sync'd to the new Bluray releases?
ANY assistance IS appreciated.
:)
Damn these might be really hard to find, I actually tried to find them because now I am kind of interested to hear how these sound, I actually love parts 4 & 5!
Agreed. I think the new BD releases would benefit greatly from their addition. It will be tough finding them for sure.
It does sound tempting ................. :)

Hey, a rule about me, very thoughtful Frink.
See rule #7^^^^^
I just want to make sure I understand things the way you mean them. You've confused me on a few posts in this thread and that can make it difficult to help someone if their message isn't as clear or informed as it could be.
Thanks for clarifying.
:)
Please don't think mean of me but may I ask, is this the first forum you've ever belonged to? It would seem that either you don't know how to navigate here and/or maybe there is a language barrier I am unaware of for you.
I'm just curious.
It's the 2nd last post of the thread ..... lol .... you gotta learn to search a little better or some folks may start to dog you because of it ..... anyways, here's the link to my post.

I took the liberty of searching out the Audio Preservation thread by PDB and making the request in there as well. It gets read more than this one might and it might actually have better results.

Does anyone on this forum own the US Halloween 4 & 5 P&S LD's with the Ultra Stereo audio? If so, would you please respond to this thread to see if we can get the audio capped bit perfect so it can be sync'd to the new Bluray releases?
^^^^^
That is how you should have started your inquiry. It might have gotten more notice.
I hope someone reading will respond now.

I'm working with Andrea to get FanRes.com SSL-enabled.
We plan on moving AMPS to an invite-only subforum there once that's done. AMPSdeux with remain for Team-1 updates.
I'm working on bringing some new moderators into the "inner circle"; people who can move AMPS in the right direction.
Expect some exciting things soon!
I look forward to the future of both places.

i told you what i was told on blu-ray.com thread one of the changes that i know of i think there might be more is halloween 4 or 5 the door bell sound effect is missing.
Which could mean anything really. Maybe it is sourced from the one 5.1 soundtrack that wasn't so great. It is mentioned in one of the articles that has been posted already.
There has been a lot of research done by myself and skoal while you are bring the word of someone on the bluray.com forum. Do some of the research and decide for yourself ..... or, read all that we have posted in regards to the "said" issue you're talking about. There is plenty of info in this thread now.

From DVDTalk review which I already posted ....
Once again, Halloween 4 has been remixed from Ultra Stereo to six discrete channels. This 16-bit Dolby TrueHD soundtrack is surprisingly limp and lifeless, though. Despite being a 5.1 mix, there might as well not be an LFE channel at all with a low-end this anemic. Actually, the levels across the board are unusually flat, devoid of any dynamic range whatsoever. This neuters the jump scares, and other effects I'd expect to

pack a hell of a wallop -- say, an EMT's head getting smashed against the side of an ambulance or a gas station going up in flames -- might as well be belched out from the built-in speakers on my TV. There's some occasional directionality, such as the bursts of gunfire from that lynch mob, although the use of the surrounds is generally kept fairly subtle. I dunno, I have stacks of '80s genre flicks on Blu-ray downstairs, so I feel like I have enough of a point of reference for my expectations to be reasonable. This remix of Halloween 4 is so meek and timid that it sounds to me like something just went wrong. Listenable but lackluster.
There aren't any dubs or alternate mixes on this Blu-ray disc. Subtitles, meanwhile, are limited to English (SDH) and Spanish.
I'm not sure how they differ because I am not familiar with the "Ultra Stereo" on the LD's ..... I don't own them.
However, my H4 and H5 Divimax DVD's have Dolby 5.1 and Dolby 2.0. H6 is the only one that actually says "Ultra Stereo" 2.0 in the audio specs.

Jetrell Fo, hmm, not sure what you mean...
The LD supposedly has the Ultra-Stereo soundtrack, and Ultra-Stereo decodes properly with Dolby decoders.
Also, the original non-anamophic DVD hopefully (when you reply and tell us (*blink blink*)) also has the Ultra-Stereo in 2.0 and should also decode property with Dolby decoders. However, this shouldn't be needed or necessary if the 5.1 on that disc is discreet and *highly* similar to the matrixed 2.0 Ultra-Stereo. Right?
My mistake .... I think I confused myself by being confused. LOL. Having a print of the film would at least give you whatever theatrical audio was used when the films was in theaters, after that it's probably pretty suggestive as to which is better or closer.
I just paid for the DVD so it will be a few days before it arrives. When it does, I'll rip the audio and offer it for anyone thinking they need to have it.
:)
The only REAL way to get "said Ultra Stereo" is probably straight off a print of the film and since I don't know anyone who has it I doubt we'll get anything closer than the audio from the non-anamorphic release of Halloween 4.
