STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Whew! in the time I've been away there certainly has been a lot going on. From models lost in the PO (apalling!), to Leia and Luke not being twins, to prequel lightsabers, to The Great Vane discussion, to the MF interiors...after reading everything I wanted to comment on the prequel Jedi, BUT since this is not the place to discuss it I'll wait until pops up again, hehe.

I will only say on the Vane thing that it was confusing where the carbon chamber is, Ady's explanation is good enough, I see the whole Cloud City part of the movie as more a series of visual metaphors not governed by the laws of logic: Going to a place in the clouds where everything is shiny and nice on the outside but rotten inside like a grave....like a trap, and then the Carbon Freezing chamber (and sequence) to be a more of a descending into the "Belly of the Beast", "Vader's Lair" if you will for Luke to meet his enemy only to be put between a rock and a hard place (or endless chasm!) for the ultimate sacrifice....in that vein, the sets can be confusing because they are going more for visuals and impact rather that perfectly planned environments...my 2 cents.

Sure you are going to do something for that :D

I hope always with some more modern panels for the snow speeders.

I agree with Angel on changing not the exterior of the shot but what you see in the cockpit, this mock up is great and to add something to the speeder's dashboard like in ANH:R would be a nice touch, a compass? a shield indicator? maybe a targeting computer? ideas.....

hahahaha I can't picture Yoda talking like that but funny indeed. This post office business is a real shame, it seems service only goes so far. I used to have that MF from back in the 80's, too bad it is all yello and old-looking now...it is still a great toy. Can anyone imagine how boring the ESB would've been if they had stuck with the original design?

Ady, just watched the trailer last night, and I have only one word: breathtaking!! now I see why everyone talked about the "city in the clouds" scene, it's spectacular! the pacing of the trailer is also great (now I see why they said you make good trailers, right on the tick man!)

Even though the lasers are "gone for good" as Adywan put it I kinda missed them on the sequence, it added that sense that the Empire (with it's fighters) is right on their tail, now it just seems they are chased, from MPOV it's not as dangerous as it was. Sure the asteroids are just as dangerous, but if you add asteroids AND the lasers it was like a nightmare laser rate, spacing, direction, all that can be fixed and changed. But no lasers....that's a sad thing, for the rest, I'm really looking forward to 2010!

I'll just say "No problem" for everyone. I love playing detective, and finding the right frames and what had been changed was fun! Glad I had the extra time to do it though, it did take a while.

EDIT: Don't want to make two posts in a row, so here's my mockup of the side view of the Emperor hologram:

Dude, you beat me to it! I had been busy I with work and was sad to let you guys down about the mock-up, yours is superb

X-Wing Mechanic, you pose an interesting question.....I don't exactly remember if there is a side frame in ROTJ to take from, I think when Luke is looking out the window to the Rebel Fleet being masacered (sp?) outside by the Imperial Fleet would be a good starting point....does anyone remember more? (I don't have the movie within my grasp here at work)

Emperor talk should be kept to the hologram....I presume, to "stay on target": ESB:R

Happy Birthday Ady! (sorry for the lateness, better late than never)

I consider it a duty if you join this forum to read what other people, in the end it could be seen as paying attention to what others express.

Savage, you got us all wrong, we were talking about resizing the MF because of its size comparisson to the SD makes it look smaller or the MF too big in that shot, so we came to the conclusion that if the MF is reduced to keep a correct size comparison it could affect the chance to spot it in the back of the SD, so the idea came out to put some "engine-powering-down-effect" to help spotting. Hope that helps to clarify

JasonN's PT FanEdits (Attack of the Federation, Twilight of the Republic, & The Black Knight Rises) (Released) ** Revised V3 Cuts In The Works

I watched your Ep2 edit (read my posts please before firing turbolasers). The underlined argument you point at is of Ep3 (I have not yet seen BKR).

1. You made my point in AOTF: the Federation IS in league with Darth Sidious, by TOTR Dooku makes the point that the Federation turned from Sidious and seeked him out, why would they do that? why would the be angry at the Republic in Ep1? taxation? so because of Taxation they ally themselves with the Sith, and after AOTF they cut off the Sith deal and seek Dooku? for what? to continue to argue against taxation or because now the Sith allegedly control The Republic? motivation is not explained, we have to just assume. Ok you want to leave Dooku and the separatists as acting by themselves? fine (it's your edit) but then the question is why break off? because of the Sith? how do the separatists know a Sith is bad? Dooku could know, but the rest wouldn't, or are they breaking off because of taxation? corruption in the senate? The separatists have a great influence in the Senate (in AOTF the Federation Senator has a good point in the senate diminishing Amidala's request and having the rest agree with him) why would they be angry at the corruption in the Senate?

2. So just because it's not called sith lightning in the movies specifically you dismiss it? maybe you want Rick Ollie saying "look there's sith-lightning, he must be a Sith! and it looks painful" you want that level of exposition in the movie? oooook! I though you hated it and that's why you edited in AOTF (good call btw). How about Yoda NEVER using it, are we to assume then that the Emperor is more powerful than Yoda? or that Yoda simply doesn't want to use it (because it's painful - look at Luke's/Anakin's face, IT hurts)?

3. I hate EU too, but the notion that Jedi can leave the Republic and be Dark/Rogue/Independent/Purple/Freelance Jedi or any of that non-sense is EU too. BTW.

You assume that there can actually BE rogue Jedi, which no where in the cannon has been stated there are any. (Ki-Adi Mundi calls him a political idealist not a murderer but we know what happens next in the original movie), second I said "whatever you wanna call him" because I knew you would nit pick at what I say, let's keep a broad sense here. Anyone who uses the Force for evil reasons yes should be considered evil *as in sith* (if you disagree that's a different argument), evil as in provoque war, taking hostage Obi1 and using the (yes!) sith lightning since Yoda who is just as powerful if not more than Dooku NEVER used it, the only other Force-user to use the lightning is Darth Sidious, a sith. Obi-Wan cuts off the arms in self defense, you can argue Dooku was using it in self defense to, but then why not just spar? after all they are using lightsabers not blasters like Zam and with Dr Evazan we don't know what he was going to pull out, the Bartender yelled "no blasters" but that happens so quick that we don't know, but with Dooku We DO know, they where sparring and Dooku went for the cutting move. One quick burst makes no difference *he just used the Dark side once* c'mon, it's sith lightning, if you don't see it how that is more evil than hurling your enemies then you should understand what sith lightning does, EU you argue? fine, then don't but it does affect more than hurling. More so, if you wanna keep Dooku a "rogue Jedi" (which you can in the end whatever..) why would a Rogue Jedi be in league with Darth Sidious, we know the separatists where with him (Grievous talks to him as Master) and he was with the separatists. To take Doooku out of the sith order as it seems you wanna go it's not just changing his color and leaving out the "sith parts" it's also about behavior.....

Maybe the point of the scene is to show how good a pilot Han is and also the tricks he is willing to pull, rather than the physical factibility of the Falcon just approaching the bridge and then off-screen shifting the angle to go parallel up the front of the SD bridge and turn so that it can land in the back. hehe

See? Dooku is a Sith by cutting out his affiliation all this argument arises. The moment you put him as a "Dark Jedi" whatever you wanna call him he is somewhat difficult to explain, if he is a noble Jedi, why use the sith lightning? if he is a noble Jedi why go and cut Anakins arm? he could have "disabled" them with a less aggressive touch......you are actually hammering my point. Dooku is a Sith, but whatever, you don't like his sith status, fine....

it's a good question, from a geographic point of view indeed Bespin would have no horizon since it has no ground, but maybe if you have taken a flight with a window seat you have seen a "cloud horizon"? it's funny you see clouds bellow you and sometimes clouds above, I admit this maybe an illusion but could that work as a horizon?

Ideas Thread: for... The Dark Knight edits
Time

You see my point now and I agree to most re-edits as long as they fix continuity problems, lousy effects and that kind of thing, which I consider to be improvements that the filmmakers just forgot to address, in that spirit, fan edits can be wonderful. Now you mention that some fan edits can spur from personal taste and the editors desire of changing something that didn't sit well with them, and that case as you elocuently say: "EVERYTHING is about opinion and personal taste". Now I believe that if you disagree with something that is objective (continuity problem) that can be fixed, but if you disagree with a personal taste of the Editor then tough...as I said above nothing can be done, you can reason to a degree, but in the end the taste of the editor is what is going to go down in the edit.

I was indeed against an editing of TDK as I think it is a perfect movie, but now that you mention it there are two ways to go at it: editing mistakes (which I think there are none) or changing out of taste (in that case I can't say a thing). I was as you put it on the "Well, your complaint is unfounded..." mindset because I was going with the "continuity problems" fixes, but I got the idea that you wanted to change plot...that I don't think can be done..or should be done (the only exception being SW since the PT should have obeyed what the OT said about those events *clone wars and the like* but that's a different discussion) because that's the movie in the end...But ok.

I'm sorry I was indeed all jumpy and aggressive too, but you are right, the editor has the right to do whatever he wishes to do....Reasoning tastes is a death-end street. :)

I get the point....I dunno if the movie was going for "A high enough place out of the way for an easy get away" and hence the lack of obstacles for Bobba's escape. you mock up does get a different point across: "A random platform, and walking away to the horizon with his quarry" bit of a western feel to it. now that I think of it.
