Info: All Star Wars films released in 4K HDR on Disney Plus: 2019 SE with more changes
Time

Additional changes made for 4K, according to Bill Hunt at the Digital Bits:

The iconic Fox “fanfare” music has been restored to all of the films (it was removed on some Digital releases). The Fox logo used is the new one (not the vintage one from 1977, 80, and 83), but at least now it’s consistent. And hearing that music again before the start of each of these films is encouraging.

One (and possibly more) sky replacements have been done to the scenes in which the droids arrive on Tatooine. They’re subtle and actually make the scene more consistent, so aren’t especially objectionable.

Some of the SE effects have been tweaked again or redone, for example the shot in which R2 is hiding behind the rocks from the Sand People. The rock positioning has been adjusted and the lighting on R2 has been tweaked to at least make the shot look a little more natural. The SE change is still objectionable, but at least it looks better now.

Lightsaber blades have been tweaked all through the films so they’re now more consistent looking, accurate, and stable. And they are now the correct color consistently—a significant improvement to my thinking.

I also believe that there’s been additional effort to clean up matte boxes and lines, especially in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Again, this is appreciated and an improvement.

Unfortunately, as you may have heard by now, there’s been another change to the Han/Greedo scene. And it’s even more jarring than before. After Han says his iconic line, “Yes, I’ll bet you have,” the film now cuts back to a quick shot of Greedo again, who mutters an additional bit of Rodian dialogue (non-subtitled), before they both shoot at once, Han’s head weirdly shifts to one side, and Greedo falls.

The sequence in Jedi when the Rebels arrive on Endor—which on Blu-ray was oddly blurry (likely caused by some kind of registration error in the film scan)—has finally been fixed.

What does it mean when music is “tracked”? >

Usually “tracking” just refers to music being performed and recorded to multi-track tape, Pro Tools, etc. All of the instruments may be recorded at once or at different times using separate tracks for each instrument or microphone. Isolating elements to separate tracks allows them to be mixed afterward.

This is off topic. I used tsMuxeR try to covert from MKV file (only the Star Wars movie itself) to Blu ray ISO. When it reached to 98.8%, I get an error code 1073741819. Is there anyways to fix the prob? How can I fix this prob? Thank you.

I had the same issue but was able to work around it by first demuxing it to separate video and audio files. Then remux those individual files into a Blu-ray and it should work. It doesn’t matter if you just use some or all of the audio files either.

i was playing the video but the image was a still and i only heard audio does that mean my computer is to slow to play it?

Possibly, though trying a different player might fix it.

Can you recommend a particular player for Mac OS? I’m currently using MPlayer X on my MacBook Pro from 2012. As HEVC decoding is done solely on the CPU, playback is nowhere near realtime (more like 5-6 FPS). Or would you mind uploading future videos in 1080p H264 as well?

I use VLC on my 2012 MacBook Pro and it played ok for me.

Is there any consensus on what the best fan made dvd from the 2006 discs is?

The general consensus is that Harmy's Despecialized and Dark Jedi's V3 are the best.

Harmy's Despecialized is an ultra detailed restoration of the theatrical versions by combining the 2004 HD Broadcast with a plethora of many other sources. It is currently available online on tehparadox and myspleen in HD, so you may want to check this out.

Alternatively, there are Dark Jedi's V3s which are amazing upscales of the GOUT and have every audio track ever released on them in fantastic quality. These are available on myspleen.

I would love to get these, can anybody help me out with a myspleen invite?

Help: looking for... Could you point me to adywan's 1997 SE of ESB in HD project?

I don't have all the different versions, but I believe the Adywan versions you listed above are considered the best for those films. I have both of them, and they are spectacular.

Having said that, I too would be interested in a definitive list of the best versions for the others, especially the original unaltered trilogy.

THE STAR WARS SAGA - 1080P AVCHD DVD-9 for PS3 & Blu-Ray players - Episodes 1, 4 & 5 available now

You don't want to convert to VOBs, that will defeat the purpose of having the movies in hi-def. Opening the ISO with Toast and then burning to disc should work. Toast is like $80.

Failing that, your only other option would be to network your Mac to PS3 with a program called Medialink. With medialink your PS3 will be able to access content directly from your Mac. Open the ISO up, and look for the .m2ts file. This is the actual video file you need to play on PS3.
