I know this is gonna be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t like the crackle saber for Rey. I know it “makes sense” logically. But I don’t think it works visually. Kylos saber is like that to signify the rage inside of him.

You need to convert your png to a eps or other vector graphic. Then import your graphic in to blender, size it to the STAR WARS logo and position it in 3d space to where the logo is located. Finally you need to parent your new logo to the STAR WARS logo and turn off the STAR WARS logo’s visibility so it won’t render. That should do what you need it to do. Though, you could have easily looked up all of this on your own using google.

Yes, you would just need to unhide the ALTA text and then follow the same steps you would when editing the actual crawl text

You need to download version 2.79b of blender. The crawl creator currently does not work with version 2.8 because they removed the blender renderer and replaced it with Eevee. The workaround is to switch to cycles (which is slower) and change the material settings for all of the elements of the crawl which takes some time to do. So as of right now, the quickest solution is to uninstall version 2.8, then download and install version 2.79b, then open the Custom Crawl Creator with that. Man, this seems really cool. I have been playing around with the idea of doing something similar but with the entire prequel saga akin to Empire of Dreams. This will be a source of inspiration for sure. Can I get a link when it’s ready?

I realize that Ady is taking a bit of a break from everything due to COVID and lack of work, but he has been dark for a really long time. I was just wondering if anyone had heard from him? Are he and his family doing okay?

Hal, I just finished watching the workprint and I must say…nice work so far. This is shaping up to be much better than the original for sure. My only thing about it is the “FOR SKYWALKER” line. Don’t get me wrong, I love it. However, do you think it would be better for the fleet to say “FOR LEIA!” instead. I guess in my mind these people are coming from around the galaxy to fight for the rebellion and Leia more so than for Luke and the Jedi.

Jonh, I know you’ve spent a lot of time to get this right, and I really think you have done a great job. But I do have a suggestion, what if after Rey says, “and I am all the Jedi” we see the same shot of the ghosts as before, but then they start to enter Rey, as though they are inhabiting her. You could use a similar effect as when Palps is sucking the life force from Kylo and Rey. But it would work in reverse until the ghosts completely disappear.

I also think this “force sucking” effect would be good to see when Rey heals the cave worm. It would set a precedent for that force ability early on.

I think what jon has now is already perfect. The ghosts are actively using the Force to help Rey repel Palpatine, and it’s not just ‘oh, I have a second saber now, so take that!’

This is some great stuff, I think if you made them seem more in the distance (maybe add some blur for distance) and only appear with the lightning strikes and then disappear in the shadows, it would sell the effect better
