I bet 10 bucks that they'll put it in 1.78:1 instead of 1.85:1 on the disc. Those fools almost always crop the image to get rid of the "annoing black bars"... :(

But I hope they won't put the exact same version on the DVD as mcflys as the "ABC version" could use some tweaking pacing wise espeacially in the action sequences. mcfly said it himself actually.

According to DVDactive, the release is in 1.85:1.  There are also two new menu shots that seem to confirm that it's one cut per disc and the only extra is the trailer.

I've noticed that wookiegroomers Episode 1 & 2 are currently being postes to a.b.hdtv.x264 by an anonymous poster.  I'm hoping that they post episode 3 as well!

Does anyone know which cut of Episode 1 it is? i.e. theatrical cut or extended DVD cut.

Cheers

I don't know what the differences are.  Give me some examples to look for and I'll check which version it is.

I just got the 13GB version of the original trilogy (thanks, Wideload! :) ), and I've had the chance to watch a few seconds of Star Wars so far to see if the file works, and it looks incredible! :) I've never watched Star Wars in HD before, just amazing picture quality, so sharp and detailed! :) Thanks to Wookie Groomer for putting together such a great set! :)

I have a question about the set. I noticed the res of the video is 1920x820, is that the res it was originally broadcast in in Germany? Also, is the .WMV format the video is in the format it was originally recorded on by the DVR in Germany, or did it need to be converted to .WMV, and if so, why? If it was converted to .WMV for whatever reason, how was the bit-rate of the video conversion decided on so as to not lose any of the quality of the original file from the DVR? Thanks for any info. :)

I'd hazzard a guess and say that there in the WMV format so that there playable on the Xbox 360.  The 360 can play these files with no problem if there connected via an external HD and that hard drive is formatted to HFS+ to allow the 12gb file size.  The 360 will only read external drives in HFS+ or FAT32 (this means file sizes are limited to 4gb, which is a bit pointless for HD files).

I've noticed that wookiegroomers Episode 1 & 2 are currently being postes to a.b.hdtv.x264 by an anonymous poster.  I'm hoping that they post episode 3 as well!

WookieGroomer, you are a GOD! :-)

I decided to break my ISP limit and go ahead and download the entire V2 original trilogy. I got myself an external HD to use with my Xbox and then had to discover MacDrive ;-).

I have to admit to still not watching them properly yet, but I've seen enough of each of them and there amazing! Thanks again.

Does anyone know what Lucasfilms stance is on releasing these movies on Bluray? Are they going to sit back and see how BD takes off maybe? If the films have been shown in HD on cable, then theres HD masters ready to use surely?

Mr. WG,

Thank you for all your hard work. I only flicked through Star Wars on my PC but it looks amazing. I have an external HD on its way to me so I can play it through my Xbox and experience it on my new HD screen.

P.S. Is it against the rules to ask assistance in getting hold of Empire and Jedi (1080p v2 editions)as my net access is capped.

IIRC the Waterworld computer game demo had no FMV, it was just a level or two of the actual game. Theres actually a copy of the game for sale on ebay. But even then I suppose someone has to figure out how the video is stored and figure a way of getting it.

Apologies for the newsgroup posting, I'm a bit nieve. I thought most of the HD posts were cable rips and the like. I didn't know that people were now posting retail HD-DVDs.

Hi guys,

Long time lurker here ;-) If any movie deserves a special edition then I think Waterworld does. Theres two cuts of the movie and think of the "making of" documentary that could be created. There must be some stories about the production, I mean one of the sets sank!!

Anyway, I love your guys work on these edits and I know how you like to include as much as possible for bonus content. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the old Waterworld game by Interplay. I had to make sure I wasn't imagining it and found this page.

This is the part that I remember (although I only had a demo, never the full game):

• Experience never-before-seen footage from Waterworld the movie and interact with its character via original video scenes featuring the actual cast, costumes and set

Its just an idea.

PS I don't know if its any help but in the newsgroups is a HD 720p posting of Waterworld.

Hi all,

I like to say a big thank you to DigitalFreakNYC for making such a brilliant set. I seem to have screwed up my download as I told it to ignore disc2 (I was experimenting with the options) and it deleted all the files it had so far But disc 1 is still on track with just over 24 hours to go. Then I'll start again to get disc 2 .

A bit OT, I've also just found and downloaded The Game disc 1 from a newsgroup. WOW! I've already set up disc 2 on torrent and the wait begins.

I've been browsing all the threads and the work you guys do is awsome keep it up.
