STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

I'm sorry if this was answered before but was it ever confirmed if the theatrical cuts are included in the blu-ray release?

EDIT:  Well this is embarrasing.  A simple google search answered my question.  If this post could be deleted then that would be appreciated.

Hey man, I'm DL'ing your cut right now.

I'm wondering if you entirely cut out the voiceover at the beginning with the forest flyover.

If you did, it would have been even better to just play his voice on a black background with nothing happening, then let the movie start.  The last movie I saw that did this was Jarhead, and it seems to work really well.

And from what I heard about the Special Edition (which I haven't seen), all that was edited back in were more shots that contribute to the preachy message of the film (such as scenes in an abandoned school building. which looked utterly stupid judging from the re-release trailers).  Everything else is just meaningless extensions of scenes on Pandora, with the exception of Jake explaining the physics of the floating mountains.

The only thing now that really sounds substantial to put back in are the Earth scenes, which Cameron recently revealed will be put back in the 16 minute-longer November edition.

Anyways, here's a list of footage, taken from an enthusiastic IMDB fan:

- When Jake goes on his first sortie in the Helicopter, theres a scene where the team observes a group of Sturmbeasts. Put back in in order to re-establish the Sturmbeast, as it was completely taken out before

- The group visits Graces old school for supplies. This was a great scene and should have never been taken out in the first place. It also showed another brand new animal, the Stingbat.

- When Jake meets Neytiri, the scene where Jake taps on the glowing plants, the scene is a bit extended as the characters walk over some glowing marshes.

- When Jake has dinner with the Na'vi, the scene is extended. A Na'vi kid is interested in Jake, but his parent keeps him away, meanwhile Jake asks Neytiri for her name. This was a really nice extension that showed a playful side to Neytiris personality.

- When Jake and crew arrive at the Floating Mountains, the scene is extended as Jake is on the mountain and views them while in voiceover he talks about how grace explained them to him "something about the mag lev effect of unobtainium" or something to that effect.

- Extended scene with Jake, Neytiri and the Fan Lizards. A very nice scene where the characters are having fun.

- When Jake, Tsu'tey and the other Na'vi travel through the mountains to get to the banshees, Neytiri does a flyover around them and shares a greeting with Jake. I really liked this extension.

- Sturmbeast hunt. A short, but very awesome action scene, it leads into Jakes voice over about him being a hunter now "death from above." Theres a great moment in this scene where Neytiri copies what Jake says.

- The Love scene. Jake and Neytiri attaching their queues. I actually think this is a good addition, because the scene is edited much better this time. You could tell before that footage was taken out.

- The Na'vi, including Tsu'tey, burn down the RDA bulldozers, equipment, and kill the soldiers and workers. We're shown the aftermath with charred bodies, etc. This is a pretty short scene, but its once that really should have been in the movie since day one as it provides a better rationale for Quaritch convincing Selfridge to attack the Hometree

- Extensions in the battle. Mostly when the animals come. There are new shots of the Hammerheads rampaging through the amps, the Sturmbeasts have been added back in and cause chaos as well. Also a few new shots of Banshees eating humans. Also some new shots in the Neytiri vs Quaritch battle. Also, after Tsu'tey is gunned down, you see him fall through the forest and land on the ground violently, it seems like his ponytail was ripped off in the fall.

- Finally, the death of Tsu'Tey. This was a GREAT scene. Great acting, and amazing CGI that perfectly capture the emotions.

It sounds like you just want a completely different movie.

I can't see how that music would really fit any scene in the movie with possible exception of the beginning.

And, pretty much every Na'vi scene (save one which isn't involved with anything at all) is directly involved with the main storyline.  Some human scenes are another matter.

Pretty much.  Brian Eno's score could be implemented somehow, especially in the first flying scene.  But, as long as all that goofball humor Cameron put into the film is gone, I can deal with it.

If only somebody could replace the bulk of the score of this film with something that really stands out as scifi (the only track that was good was "You Don't Dream in Cryo" at the very beginning).    I really loved the futurism/space marines in the film yet the fantasy tones did not fit in at all.  It would be truly awesome for this movie to feel more like Starship Troopers/Halo instead of Fern Gully.  Somehow, I feel it could be done.

See how atmospheric and ambient these fan-made tracks sound as opposed to James Horner's cliche'd score:

I bet Brian Eno's music would fit in very, very well for the score.  Imagine that.

And someone should just cut out all of the parts with the Na'vi that doesn't come in conflict with the main storyline.

This movie deserves to be so much more....

Just imagine if the movie came out like this:

And not this:

I think we all have to actually see how the scenes turn out before we can determine if there will be any changes to any edits.

I'm open to the possibility myself, but it all depends.  It looks like there is possibly some good material there, and I certainly wouldn't mind a stronger opening.

They clocked in at around 4.5 minutes.  Plus in the script all the opening dialogue in the theatrical cut was supposed to be used for those scenes.  With the use of the script, the scenes could be reinserted with pinpoint accuracy.

I believe that this movie really deserves a darker tone throughout.  Those scenes should certainly fit the bill, but oh well we still have to see, I guess.  A lot of the early fans were looking forward to seeing those scenes, and I was one of them.  When I found out Cameron had taken them out, my anticipation for that movie dropped tenfold, even more when I saw how the Na'vi looked.

JasonN, when is the DVD9 coming out?

Oh, and when the special collector's dvd comes out, are you planning to do  V2 of the edit?  There's a future earth sequence that needs to be edited back in the intro along with the original music for those scenes.

I don't understand why Cameron wanted to take them out, because it would have been more than interesting to see how his updated vision of a Blade Runner world would have looked like.  Also, it would have enhanced the contrast between Jake and Pandora.

I would do this job myself if only I knew how to edit :(.

Okay so this is my first time posting here, and I've been curious about how how all the holographics/screen displays will be done on this.

Are the majority of the displays (with 70's graphics) present throughout the film going to be updated with more modern graphics akin to the PT?  Are you planning to change anything at all with the MF's interiors?

And concerning the prequels: I know that the PT will be made to look more like the OT when you eventually get to it; but I don't really get the gist of it.  Are you planning to do color correction on the screen displays to make them look more old or worn out, or are you going to be adding in entirely new displays from your craft?  Will the holograms be kept the same or will you incorporate your own?  What are you thinking to do when you plan to make the interiors look more like the OT?  I'm sorry if these questions are too premature right now but if you have the basic idea yet, could you elaborate on these things?

I really can't see why the Falcons interiors need changing at all

As for the PT, displays need downgrading along with the holograms. These films are supposed to take place before the OT yet they seem to be more advanced. They did attempt to tie in the displays in ROTS but it was too little too late. These displays need to look more old style.  I didn't say i was planning on making the interiors more like the OT, i have said that i want some of the CG backgrounds to look less like a video game and more realistic by using real miniature sets

Yes, that would be great.  You should replace some of the planets in the background with matte paintings if you could as well.

So what is Adywan planning to do with all the holography and advanced display screens so flamboyantly portrayed in the prequels?  They're literally everywhere: from cockpit interiors, building interiors,  to Coruscant.  Is he just going to erase them, make them look less shiny, or replace them with the old 70's look in the OT by somehow inserting those ancient monitors and knobs?

Thanks.

Now although I entirely support Adywan's vision for the prequels in terms of story and character development, I just hope that he's not thinking about inserting old 70's monitors and knobs everwhere since I think that that would not fit well in the PT unless he decides to re-do everything.  All I would like to see are the holographics being toned down a bit to match the picture quality of the original and the display screens being color corrected or composited to make them look not so video game-like.  But if that's what he intends to do, then fine.  I'll take story over flashy visuals any day.
