Proposed Revisited ROTJ Opening Crawl (85 words, 7 more than original):

While his friends have scoured the galaxy for Han Solo, Luke Skywalker has evaded Darth Vader’s relentless pursuit by continuing his Jedi training on the secret planet of Dagobah.

With Han finally discovered in the lair of the vile gangster Jabba the Hutt, Luke has left his training once again to join his friends in a daring rescue attempt.

Little do they know that the GALACTIC EMPIRE has secretly been constructing a new armored space station even more powerful than the first dreaded Death Star…

Honestly, I find this to be the best course of action and its a lot less intrusive to the pacing of the film. I’ve always found the original episode 6 (and the prequel trilogy) crawl to be lacking a certain kind of punch that the other 2 had.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

I really loved Adywan’s death star reveal. The imperial march tied it together with the rest of the trilogy though i can’t help but wonder if there was a way to blend the well known theme with “new hope” imperial theme just to keep the soundtrack consistent. The only element from rogue one I would like in a new hope is the Scarif planet as well as a better sense of scale with the death star.

has there been any reason as to why there were only 4 ships escaping the death star before it blew up. I would have assumed there were just a few more x-wing survivors.

Looking at when Luke swings his lightsaber around just doesn’t seem like the Jedi way to me. Maybe if he acted more in a defensive stance rather than acting all aggressive, but how could you even change something like that? Use a body double?! And also does it appear as if his saber is too long in certain shots?

I feel his fighting style at that point was more in the vein of Windu’s aggressive fighting form so i don’t mind it. What I do mind is how inconsistent his lightsaber is from shot to shot. Its too blown out, too thicc, the swing blur doesn’t exist and when it does, it doesn’t look right. Three rereleases and they still haven’t fixed it. Its one of the things i look forward to the most with Adywan’s edit.

I don’t get the complaints about Vader being forced to call Palpatine his master at all times. He’s been beat down for 25 years at this point from a man who literally gave him his life back. Of course he’s going to kiss up to him.

it doesn’t seem that way in ESB as he was plotting against him

I have 3 videos for your viewing pleasure and hopefully, it serves as ideas. As I have mentioned in previous post, I am a firm believer that Boba does not really serve any purpose in the film. So my first video is the sarlacc battle.

The second video is trying to make Vader seem like less of a lap dog to the emperor by removing the constant “my master”. Additionally some of the exchange Vader has with the emperor regarding Luke feels a bit repetitive so i shortened the dialog between them.
https://vimeo.com/232896122

Last video is when Vader suspects Luke and the rebels to be on the shuttle. I felt it would be stronger if he just gave the admiral a glance which then quick-cuts to Han. It would kind of raise the tension of them getting caught.

what are your thoughts?

Glad to see the SE elements being removed. Especially Jedi Rocks. Ady, will you be restoring the original or just cutting it out altogether? I never felt like the Jabbas Palace scene needed a song and dance number

I honestly wouldn’t mind lapti nek coming back but the original puppet simply lacks polish or isn’t that good.

we could keep the short musical sequence from the special edition before jabba demands the main entertainment, then have it transition to when chewwy and leia arrive. but then what do we do about the twilek slave who gets eaten?

I would honestly prefer if boba fett was removed entirely from the movie as the only thing i felt he did in that movie was just stand around and die in a slapstick way. He really didn’t add anything to the movie.

Some of the ideas i like from this and other threads are streamlining the Tatooine segment as i feel like it goes on for too long and feels a bit repetitive.
I’d prefer 3po be somewhat in on the plan with r2. When they arrive at Jabba’s palace, 3po tells bib that they have a gift for Jabba (3po doesn’t know that he and r2 are the gift). The dance sequence can be a the beginning of Jabba’s reveal (have it sort of like the cantina sequence with the music in the background) maybe have chewbacca already captured and imprisoned so his reveal would be when Han is finally thawed out the imprisoned. Leia in disguise would be mingling with the locals at this point. After 3po and R2 are given their new tasks, we transition to the point when she attempts to break Han out.

Just throwing out some ideas (not mine of course, Mac’s)

Okay, honestly guys, did I make a wrong move with creating a new thread and sharing this outline? I seriously do not know.

I don’t post very often and so I’m not necessarily up on “forum etiquette”. I never intended this to be improper, attention-seeking, or for it steal anyone’s thunder if that was case (Ady’s especially, as I have upmost respect for him). Again, the reason I created a separate thread instead of putting it in the official was because of the length. So if what I did here was in bad taste in any way, please, someone in the upper echelon tell me so.

Or, if the issue is simply because it’s so long to read, then I’m really sorry if that bothers you… certian things cannot always be kept to a nice sweet blurb, especially when it comes to restructuring and editing an entire film such as ROTJ; I always felt this one needed the most work of the OT. So just treat it as you would a book. If you don’t want to read at all what I wrote, that’s perfectly fine too, but you do not have to pass by and be rude about it, please. I am just a guy who is very passionate about Star Wars (if you couldn’t tell) and wanted to share, just like anyone else, what I would love to see in a Revisited ROTJ.

I really thought it’d be an interesting and refreshing read for most people here, too, regardless of its length, for it’s something that is actually relevant and about fan editing Star Wars, which to me is a whole lot better than reading all of the bickering and nonsense posts that have been going on as of late.

I don’t think you did anything wrong. I like some of the ideas you had though some of them might be difficult to be made possible.
