Disney to buy 20th (21st) Century Fox? (Disney has now bought them - 14 Dec '17)

Given I’m still attached to DVD (nothing wrong with HD, just not mandatory to my viewing needs), I just recently got the 2007 Blade Runner Ultimate Collection DVD (just the DVD set, no carry case or whatever) and pretty happy with what it is. If the GOUT had been non-anamorphic widescreen I’d probably be content with that as well. That said I agree all cuts of Blade Runner should be included on all future formats (given the state of physical media at this point who knows if there will be) no more than all cuts of Star Wars should be.

GOUT was non-anamorphic widescreen.

Thanks! Both copies on Paradox have different checksums, so I wouldn't recommend anyone download using those links.

The first source listed at tehP still matches Post_12854; I checked it just minutes ago.
(Didn't check the second source)

That's odd. I'm getting checksum of E444631E from Uloz and FE0D99D6 from Mega.

Can someone post the checksum of SW 2.5 AVCHD ISO? On ESB 2.0 the checksum was listed in the readme file, but it's not on SW 2.5. Normally I wouldn't bother with the AVCHD, but I want to show it to a friend of mine and he doesn't have a way to play the MKV on his TV. There are two download sources on Paradox for SW 2.5 AVCHD, and both have different checksums...

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1
Time

I just watched ROTJ today with my 5 year old daughter (Jedi is her favorite Star Wars movie) and noticed something that seemed odd. At 0:29:05-0:29:10 the video seems slowed down and has choppy frame-rate, I'm guessing this was intentional to keep things in sync, but if not I wanted to let you know before you finish ROTJ v2.0. Thanks again for all your hard work, and congrats on the new job!

Yes, I certainly could do that, which is why I have.

Really? So why is the definition quite less precise and the colors a tad different so that these shots stick out?

Because the 35mm prints he used had lower effective definition and different colors than the Blu-rays, so the matching was imperfect, I'd hazard to guess... and simply using different 35mm projection print scans from an alternate source, as you're suggesting, is unlikely to fix the issue (projection prints do vary, but in general, they have lower effective resolution than interpositives, negatives, and the sort of sources used for Blu-rays, and Negative1's 35mm scans are in no way more magical than other 35mm scans) .  Maybe better color matching and blurring up the Blu-ray parts would make it match the 35mm source he used in 2.0 better, but switching to a different 35mm scan will, at best, only marginally improve the edge detail.

EDIT: Sorry, just re-read and saw that you thought he was using GOUT footage. It should suffice to say he wasn't.  That's about as good as we're gonna get detail-wise without access to the Lucasfilm vault.

I thought he was using GOUT and 97SE to unzoom the cockpit scenes? I didn't think he had 35mm scans to work with unless he was willing to wait for ESB:R. At least that's what this post said:

What is the main video difference if any between AVCHD MKV (8GB) and the MKV that is 20GB? Thanks in advance!

AVCHD video bit rate is about half that of the MKV, but Harmy did say:

Though the difference between the v2.0 AVCHD and MKV is actually super tiny - not that it's not there but you can only really see it in full-screen on a larger TV or monitor.

Checked out a bit of the mkv this morning and saw one of those things you can't unsee, right before the Wampa pops up and knocks out Luke, you can see a boom mic reflection in the eye wear on top of his head.

LOL. I'm assuming you know this, but that was always there.

Yeah, the compact release is still on but it may take me a few days to get around to doing it.

Cool. I'm in no rush, just wanted to ask before running the large mkv through handbrake for a "portable version". Would you also be doing a compact release for Star Wars 2.5 or has that ship sailed? Thanks again my friend.

If I put the .iso's for Star Wars and Empire on Dvd+r DL discs will they play in my ps3?

Yes, be sure to select burn from image file in your burning program. Don't just burn the ISO as an individual file. I recommend using ImgBurn.

I'm going to run the film through Handbrake to watch on Apple TV.

First off don't use Handbrake as that will compress the video yet another time (and possibly the audio depending on your settings). The best quality for your purposes would be from remuxing the video from the large MKV release and the DD 5.1 audio from the AVCHD release.

Unfortunately, AppleTV doesn't play well with h.264 sliced coding. It will play the video but may skip and heaven help you if you try to seek. While I fully agree that remuxing is generally a better choice, recompression is unavoidable in this case.

Don't rush to convert the v2.0 AVCHD, though; HandBrake trips over the video stream but we're looking into why.

I think my roku is having the same issue. I've tried several programs to remux the AVCHD of both SW 2.5 and ESB 2.0 and they all have issues when I try to fast forward on the Roku using the Plex app. What issues is handbrake having? I haven't converted it with handbrake, but I did open it with handbrake to see if it saw the video stream as another user said handbrake wouldn't even see the video stream - my copy, 0.9.9, had no problems seeing the stream.

h_h, I'm going to run the film through Handbrake to watch on Apple TV. Apple TV (and Mac and iOS) don't support DTS-HD but Handbrake can convert them to AC3. Would I be better served using the soundtracks from the AVCHD since they're already Dolby Digital?

I'm not h_h, but I can answer your question. First off don't use Handbrake as that will compress the video yet another time (and possibly the audio depending on your settings). The best quality for your purposes would be from remuxing the video from the large MKV release and the DD 5.1 audio from the AVCHD release.
