How’s this idea?

In the beginning of the film when Obi-Wan decides to give Luke the toy, we cut in the last part of the series where Obi-Wan approaches Luke and says “Hello there!”. We then hear Owen’s voice “I thought I told you to leave us” etc and cut to a suitable shot of Owen at the homestead. “Walk with me”, then wipe to the “He must be trained/Like you trained his father” scene (perhaps change background to suggest they are still somewhere else on the farm). We don’t see the toy being returned, so it’s implied Luke still has it. Then obi-Wan continues his adventure, and we don’t see the Lars family again…

Until, at the very end after saying bye to the Organas at Alderaan, we cut back to Obi-Wan packing up his cave. He rides his animal… and we then see him check on the farm with binoculars (scene taken from first episode). He sees Luke playing pilot, implied to be because of the toy he got at the beginning. Obi-Wan then rides away and meets QGJ.

Thoughts?

This would of course means losing the “battle” of the Lars homestead entirely, but if Reva dies by Vader’s hand (as some suggest doing) it’s ok anyway

Hmm, I like the idea to a certain degree. It is fitting to kind of end with Luke before all the Leia stuff happens, so that we can solely focus on here. But! The sad thing is that Obi-Wan’s mission is in its entirety all about protecting Luke - so the film starts with Luke, and ends with Luke, is symbollic and most likely the most fitting way for it to end.

Well the film would still start and end with Luke, just that the end is the binocular shot, showing that Obi-Wan is still keeping watch

The Stardestroyer chase was flat. compare this sequence to those in the OT, especially ESB with the stardestroyer chasing the falcon, and you will see what i mean. The stardestoyer itself looked more 90’s CG than the quality we have come to expect from ILM today.

I thought the star destroyer looked great. It was CGI, but like Rogue One, it was CGI meant to look like a model, not a space ship

I don’t want this in any edit; I just think it would be a fun thing to do

Although I don’t think it’s necessary, seeing Guiness’ “Anakin” from ROTJ dubbed in place over the “Darth” would be an interesting excercise for sure. The mouth would have to be animated a little extra

I like it. It isn’t perfect, but it’s entertaining, and I only want to be entertained, not analyze everything to pieces

Was there de-aging done in the flashbacks? I couldn’t tell if it was used conservatively or not at all, but either way both actor’s looked great!

I think this is their way to tie into the OT a little; maybe that’s why Leia is so certain that “they let us go” in ANH; she’s seen it happen before.

How many people can fit in a T-47 now?

A child in the backseater’s lap maybe… but an additional adult?

I disagree. Seasons 6-7 of the clone wars had incredible highs and depth not found in the films

Basically it boils down to this:

The prequels are a fantastic story with subpar execution.
The sequels are fantastic execution of a subpar story.

I’m thinking that the entire epilogue with Din meeting Luke and Ahsoka might be better saved for a fanedit of Mando season 3; it’s completely separate from the main plot of the whole film. Just my opinion of course.

Don’t forget to listen to “Rebel mission to Ord Mandell” before ESB. Only 30min.
Unfortunately the main voice cast are all different.

In the final space battle, I’d like to see an interdictor star destroyer, it makes sense for the Empire to try to prevent the rebels from escaping. This can then be one of the star destroyers later seen being destroyed during the battle

It would make it weird because the Ewoks seem unknown to everyone, hardly the case if they were on a moon of the capital

I just listened to the radio drama.

The opening sequence is:

Luke in Ben’s hut contructing lightsaber helped by R2
Droids go to Jabba’s palace -> Sarlaac battle
Vader arrives on DSII

I feel that any prequel is always intended to be watched in release order; ie the very fact that it is a prequel means that it should be watched with the knowledge of the film that comes after it.

Chronological order ruins the viewing experience, at least for a first-time viewer (people who have seen all films can choose any order).
