Poor quality CGI and CGI-affected shots & scenes in the Prequel Trilogy films…
Time

Honestly, I think the full scale battle droid props mesh well with their CGI counterparts. Lucas should have done something similar with the clone troopers by having actors portray them in close ups shots. Yes, I know that as clones they all have to be the same size but you can easily work around that in close up shots, like they way Peter Jacksson made the actors for the fairly-short-in-statuer hobbits appear smaller than the actors actually were.

The 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special - a general discussion thread

Part of THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL Is Coming to Disney+’:-

'Lucasfilm gave the world a gift in 1978: The Star Wars Holiday Special. The oft-maligned TV special has some, shall we say, rough spots, but also marks Boba Fett‘s first ever appearance. He showed up in a truly wild animated short in the special before he returned in The Empire Strikes Back. And while Lucasfilm has largely shoved The Star Wars Holiday Special into a trunk, never to see the light of day again, they are releasing the Boba Fett animated segment on Disney+ in April alongside more classic Star Wars. I never thought I’d see the day.

The Story of the Faithful Wookiee,” as the short is titled, airs as a cartoon in-universe that Chewbacca’s son Lumpawarrump watches. A mysterious character (Boba Fett) befriends Luke Skywalker and his friends and then goes on a mission with Chewbacca. There’s a cursed Talisman, a sleeping virus, and antics. And the animation quality is pretty solid, especially for the time. We’re excited that more people will get to see this quality entry in Boba Fett history.’

Interestingly enough there was an action figure made out of that version of Boba Fett(yes, with the stick and all) and he was even named ‘‘Boba Fett’s animated debute’’ as opposed to maybe ‘‘droid animated series version’’. Please not that this is around the time that George Lucas still owned Star Wars, who hates the holiday special with burning passion.

Which one do you like more? The Prequels or the Sequels? And why?

Of the two I much prefer the Prequels to the Sequels. I would say that Force Awakens is really a remake of A New Hope, it follows a near identical plot path aside from the occasional tease that Finn is force-sensitive. Last Jedi tried a little too hard to be shocking and wasted what I think was a truly great story for Luke by bogging it down in so much other nonsense like fuel gauges and space Las Vegas. Rise of Skywalker, while visually appealing, is such an utter mess story wise that it really ruined the entire Sequel trilogy for me. Really there was absolutely no need to shoehorn Palpatine nor his lineage into the last movie. I also didn’t appreciate the continued too-subtle hints to Finn’s force sensitivity. Really he had so much wasted potential. He could have gone down a Jedi path, he could have easily become Sith or, perhaps most tantalizingly, he could have been a “grey” Jedi, not fully succumbed to the dark side but not purely light either. Unfortunately he was mostly relegated to the background.

I suppose I should point out the things I did like in the sequels and I will say I actually quite enjoyed Last Jedi before they tried too hard to course correct it. For those who say it wasn’t in Luke’s character to hide and be a hermit seem to forget that his two Jedi mentors were both hermits in hiding themselves when Luke met them. Han Solo in Force Awakens was pretty great, even though Harrison Ford looked to be in slow motion when he was running from the Rathtars.

As for the Prequels, I really enjoyed all 3. There are definite gripes, sure. Really the big one is you could argue that Phantom Menace is actually fairly irrelevant to the overall story and we could have just started with Attack of the Clones and split Revenge of the Sith in to two films. That said, I’m one of the strange individuals that actually really likes Phantom Menace. Perhaps I’m just a sucker for the amazing lightsaber work they did, or perhaps I didn’t find Jar Jar half as irritating as everyone else did. Far as I’m concerned he’s nowhere near as bad as the commentary accompanying the podrace.

The Phantom Menace is despite its reputation the last Lucas Star Wars film(one that he had control over the story for) that was still using a lot of practical effects, more than the original trilogy even and by that I mean all three of those films. Much like The Lord of the Rings, Titanic and the original Jurassic Park trilogy it is a good mesh of practical effects and CGI which has become more and more rare.

It is also the only prequel film that from what I remember does not contradict the Thrawn trilogy. You could say that the Phantom Menace is more 90’s Star Wars than any of the other films.

This monster is supposed to the swamp monster that swallows R2-D2. However it looks nothing like the actuall prop that is supposed to represent the affordmentioned monster. The image is from visual dictionary for the original trilogy which worked in the special edition changes, however as far as I know no changes was made to the original swamp creature scene.

George Lucas's Sequel Trilogy

I wouldn’t mind seeing a comic book or a trilogy of Disney+ animated movies with George’s version, but otherwise, maybe it’s just time to let the Skywalker saga go. The Mandalorian has made big strides in showing us fun Star Wars stories don’t even need to feature these characters.

Which is why I would say that generation alpha will probably look a lot more fondly on the Dinsey Star Wars spin of material, then the actual main 3 Disney Star Wars films.
