I think the Qui Gon stuff is pretty necessary in a edit, at least for me. In the original Yoda’s line at the end feels so written in at the last minute to explain a plot hole and the extra dialogue at least gives it a bit more justification. That being said if you want to trim things the first thing I would take out would be Yoda arriving on Dagobah, I think the ending is paced better without it and it feels unnecessary to focus on. I’ll try to watch through the edit in the next couple days to see if any thing else feels unnecessary as I don’t think cutting the second seeds of rebellion scene should be the first thing to go.

I’ve always liked the idea of having R2’s light remain the way it is in the entirety of ANH, however have it match the rest of the series in the very last scene (after R2 has been fixed up).

The video is turning out great so far! One thing I noticed that you missed is that Luke’s line “what good will it do him if he gets himself killed, come on” is a different take in the mono mix. The line is at about 01:25:00.

I’m pretty sure 4K77 V2 will change to theatrically sync, but Williarob is probably the best person to to give a definitive answer.

If I’m not mistaken a technicolor print with the 77 crawl is what 4K77 is scanned from.

When you put out ROTJ would you consider adding the extra music in the Dagobah scene like Hairy_Hen’s 4K83 5.1 mix? I think it would be worth it at least for a alternate audio track.

Is there any color correction done on this edit or just the film grain applied?

At the very beginning of the 1080p version of ESB there are red bars at the top and bottom of the screen for about half a second. The problem isn’t there in the 720p version and I’m not sure if it’s in the others.

I will be showing all your edits to a star wars newbie, however that will still be about a month or so in the future so I’ll report back then.

I’m in favor of order A. I think the transition would seem normal to anyone who doesn’t what would follow and I think it’s important to show early in the film that they both seem happy
