STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

If you're uploading for free, it's not really about your upload speed, because the upload speed is severely limited by the server. I have incredible upload speed on my connection at the school dorms, yet it still takes me like two days to upload a DVD9, except for uloz.to, it takes me like 20 minutes to upload a DVD9 there. Also, I will be staying at home, (where my connection speed is bellow average) over the summer, so with a summer release planned for both ESB:R and DeEd v2.0, I'm afraid I'll be glad if I'll be able to take care of uploading my own project.

I don't think DVD even supports discrete 6.1 but I could be wrong. Anyway, I finally managed to get the HDTV version and it's definitely better than the DVD, although it looks more like a very decent anamorphic DVD in terms of resolution. The Japanese subs aren't much of a problem, because it seems they were partially in the black boarder and were cropped off, so they only appear at the very bottom of the picture from time to time (only when there was a two line subtitle). They also don't bother me much, since to me they're just meaningless scribbles, so I find them much less distracting then I would say Spanish or French or even Czech subtitles. The AR doesn't seem quite right (slight vertical stretch) but that's easily fixed when watching on a computer.

Are you guys joking about the "font" or did you not bother to look at the video (it seems like I spent an evening making English subs for it for nothing ;-D ). As to whether I like it, I don't know, in hindsight, I think my wanna-be-graffiti style logo from when I was 15 doesn't seem so cool anymore :-)

There's actually a lot of work planned for ESB, lots of recomped shots I want to reinstate and many more zoomed in cockpits I want to unzoom and I'm probably gonna attempt to redo some of the shots that weren't quite so great in v1.0. It's also possible that I'll have to rerotoscope all the lightsabres in the ESB duel. There'll be much less work on Jedi but still quite a few things and a lot of work will have to go into the LS duel there as well. None of those will probably be as complex as SW v2.0 though.

And I'm not sure what you mean by reinserted coloured windows.

In this case, endless patience :-) This time I removed the CG robot using a custom matte not only of the building but also the background, which in on itself was no easy task, since (and you may not notice this if you're not paying attention to it) the camera moves slightly several times, so I had to track that movement. And then I had to rotoscope all the other elements back in front of the area of where the robot was, sometimes combining GOUT and SE footage, if the robot was composited in front of the character. I can still see some glitches that I just couldn't get quite right but you'd probably never notice those if you didn't study the shot carefully. As it stands, if you just watch it once in the movie, it should hopefully look like the robot was never there and nothing was ever done to the shot.

If anyone's interested, here are a few frames from the project file saved as photoshop layers.

Cameron revises one shot for 3D release of Titanic

^ Lol, I just saw a couple of great jokes about both of these. And a lot of people got offended too. Now, how exactly does it matter that those people were offended? Do you think that any of them though about it for more than the few seconds it took them to type how offended they were? Probably not but I and many others enjoyed a good laugh. Dark humour is great.

I do on the other hand of course recognise that these are far more sensitive topics than the Titanic but that is because there's a huge difference between accident and murder.

OK, so I decided to take a break from school stuff today and take care of a shot that made me cringe every time when watching the latest Mos Eisley workprint and I tried unsuccessfully to redo it many times before but this time I took a different approach and here it is:

Yeah, approximately 150 000 people die every day - approximately here means that plus or minus 1500 is absolutely meaningless in the grand scheme of things, especially when we're talking 100 years ago. Also, 3000 people die in car accidents every day, so even the fact those 1500 people, who don't (or shouldn't) personally mean anything to any mentally healthy person today, didn't die of natural causes, doesn't really make it any more meaningful.

I'd be willing to bet that thousands of people died during the building of the great pyramid of Giza and I doubt that anyone would object to a slide in a shape of an Egyptian pyramid. And to me, the fact that that was thousands of years ago doesn't make any difference, because no one who lives today has any personal memory of anyone who died on Titanic, just like no one today has any personal memory of anyone who died while building the great pyramids.

Those ice molds are awesome! I definitely want those! And I completely agree with Gaffer on this one. I mean how can you be offended by something that concerns the death of someone you've never met? Sometimes it just feels like some people enjoy being offended and so get offended at every opportunity they get. I'd elaborate, but I'll let Stephen Fry do it for me:

Also, let me repeat what I already said before:

People are too f*cking sensitive about these things. Sure, it was a disaster and 1500 people died in the middle of Atlantic one hundred years ago. But so what? Approximately one hundred times that many people died in the world yesterday.

Yeah, I am in PAL region and yeah (again, just like the GOUT) it's a quite obvious NTSC to PAL conversion, there are even some IVCT glitches that I noticed skimming through it.

That HDTV version does look pretty horrible, although it still seems to look better than the DVD (so does DJ's project Blu of course, so it's quite possible that it's sourced from the DVD but it does seem to look better) but I can't find any decent way to DL it.

It appears that an anamorphic version came out in China buit judging by these screenshots, it's just a conversion from the same master, kind of like DJ's V3 but official:

So, I’ve never seen James Cameron’s The Abyss, and I wanted to, so I just bought it on DVD and was horrified when I found out it was a non anamorphic transfer which looks very similar to the GOUT. The likeness to the GOUT is understandable, considering that after doing some reading, I found out that it too was sourced from a early 90’s LD master. And as with the GOUT, there appears to be no better quality commercially available (and actually, annoyingly, as with the GOUT, the menus are anamorphic). So does anyone know if there is any kind of preservation or version with better, preferably HD, quality? I think I’ve read somewhere that it was broadcast on HDTV, which seems weird though, considering that the commercially available DVD is sourced from LD and it never came out on BD or HD DVD or D-VHS, so where would they get an HD master for it?
