OK, I'm uploading a workprint of reel five.

There are still some colour issues, especially the trash compactor scene, which I'm struggling with quite a bit but I'm hoping to still get it fixed (especially the first part before it switches to 3P0, which looks like ass).

I'd quite like to hear it myself. Not to mention possibly use it for a special bonus on the DeEd BD.

I guess he thinks they're funny and he likes the final battle with the droids.

So the remastered TPM is running on Czech TV right now. I'm not watching, but my dad is, because it's his favourite SW film, the reason for which is in his own words: "because it's the one with the gungans." He's also positively gleeful about it being dubbed to Czech and cropped to 16:9, so that it fills the whole screen. And I'm sure that if he knew that in this version all the grain was scrubbed, he'd be delighted too. I gave up on him in this regard a long time ago...

So, I just saw a trailer for The Phantom Menace being shown in HD on a Czech TV channel and it had the digital Yoda, so it will apparently be the Blu-Ray master. Just thought it was interesting.

Yes, they are but not always quite this much. And yes, it is this grainy in the IB Tech print as well. My assumption is that while most of the FX shots' original elements were shot with Vistavison, this shot (along with some other similarly grainy composites) were shot in normal anamorphic widescreen and so the grain added by the compositing process is more pronounced.

Could you guys remind me what was the last WP reel I released?

It was interlaced for me. But otherwise I loved it.

Yeah, I'm back at work on it, though I only just moved back home from uni, so I'm still settling down and stuff, so don't expect a new WP for at least a week.

I've finally finished the thesis, it's here if anyone wants to check it out :-)

It's called "Star Wars Trilogy: American Cultural Heritage" though it's mainly just about the first film :-)

I love this idea, I listen to audiobooks all the time and this would be awesome!

I've always dreamed about the Thrawn Trilogy being made into films. To be honest though, even though generally I'm not a big fan of CGI, today a film like this would be like 90% CGI anyway, so I'd love to see it made with the original cast using performance capture, Beowulf style but better CGI. They'd have to do something about Carrie Fisher's voice though :-D

Oh and Bryce Dallas Howard would make an excellent Mara.

Yeah, sorry but no, until someone described the problem in words, I couldn't even tell what the problem was just from the pictures, so I don't think I'll be fixing that.

Wow, I'm honoured that you took my advice. I'm sure you won't regret it :-)

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's really a pity you decided to skip Outbound Flight, because it is much more a prequel to Zahn's work than a Lucasian prequel story; it's about the origins of Thrawn and it's a great story. Sure it has Anakin and Obi-Wan in it but they're not major characters and when they're there, they're very well written, nothing like in Lucas' prequels.

Well, I still have some school stuff to do but it should be all done by the end of June and then back to work on the edit and since it's in the finishing stages I'm still confident that a summer release is very likely.

You can kind of see where this whole "it's my movie and I can do whatever I want with it" thing comes from emotionally. Almost makes you feel sorry for the guy.
