Thanks for the links.
I just happen to have been out for a work meeting and talk got on to Star Wars, so I asked someone who saw the 77 release how they remember the chasm sequence and with absolute certainty they recalled Luke missing. I’m sure it was there, too many people remember it.

Hi and welcome, HappyToast. Both the ITV UK Premiere screenings of… Star Wars (shown on 24th October, 1982) - and Empire Strikes Back (shown on 25th December, 1988)… are available in here (check under the ‘TV Screening Preservations’ category):-

📍 A few available Original Trilogy Preservations - from a long time ago . . . . 📍

There is a ‘30+ post requirement’ to be able to acquire any of the projects listed in there.

Unfortunately we don’t have a copy of the ITV premiere for Return Of The Jedi (shown on 26th December, 1989)

Re the grappling hook scene in Star Wars… Mocata summed it up pretty well above.

A thread on the topic, here: my memory isn’t that bad, is it? (in SW '77 - Luke misses with the grappling hook?)

Finally had a chance to watch some of the preservation of the October 1982 broadcast of Star Wars on ITV and I am absolutely blown away by the luminous colors . Simply beautiful ! Even with the tracking issues and slight PAL speedup of the audio , I’m amazed by the quality compared to the NTSC broadcasts we got here in the states . Not sure who initiated and made the final transfer /project a reality , but thank you ! This was a real treat !

Hi there, apologies for any forum etiquette failures, I’m new here.

Is there a downloadable version of the UK 1982 ITV broadcast?
If not, could someone who might have a copy tell me if Luke misses with the grappling hook?
Apologies if this has been asked a million times and causes a laugh or facepalm, I’m desperate.

Cheers
