I will gladly pledge $20 to help this preservation project!

I also don’t have a blutopia account sadly, congrats on the v1 for this project! Any plans for it to be featured anywhere else?
This thread has been dormant for some time now but I’d still like to query if someone knows about this “original Japanese broadcast audio” that people keep mentioning all around the interwebs? Is there some fan-made package somewhere with DBZ “Levels” quality video and the Japanese broadcast audio? I have read that the broadcast audio is much better (or clearer) compared to even the bluray audio.
…or should I just forget about this quest and go straight with Dragon Ball Kai? I heard the English dub is pretty awesome. I just usually go with Japanese audio + English subs.
There is a team online working on a project of that level via dragon box quality combining different sources like the broadcast audio, I don’t have all the details since they haven’t posted any episodes publicly yet, but they do have the first dbz movie online as an example for what to expect moving forward. This link will only last a tad longer than 3 days so nab it quick if you’re interested. ** LINK REMOVED BY MODERATOR**
Gomu69 - good luck with your project mate - but we can’t have direct links to downloads on this site - which is why we came up with this Rule: No direct links to media downloads of copyrighted materials on this site (amongst others).
I am sure you understand why.
If in doubt please read the ‘Fan edit/preservation forum rules and FAQ’, here - link
Do NOT post direct links to media downloads of copyrighted materials on this site again.
Also from the same seller, Treasure Planet http://www.ebay.com/itm/323024463378
I’m more than willing to help pitch in for any of these. Thank you for letting us know about these prints, I hope they find a good home where they can be preserved!
Sharing this treasure with everyone for the holidays is truly admirable and as someone who’d very much appreciate an alternative link, I salute you.
Thanks for the update on this project since your progress is showing tremendous results so far and I’m glad to see this movie is in good hands here.
It just so happens that today I stumbled upon what looks to be a local screening, 3 weeks from now, near me of what I think is a DCP of The Dark Knight. http://www.gortoncenter.org/film/all/the-dark-knight
Tickets are still available if anyone happens to be in the area and I’m planning on making careful observations since I haven’t seen this in theaters since 2008 and I’m open for taking any notes for anyone wondering about color details.
I hope this isn’t too off topic of a post, it’s really nice to see this project making strides and we’re more than grateful to know that the dawn is coming for The Dark Knight and I wish for all the best in your endeavors to see this to the end!
I just checked, and I can’t find it anywhere on MySpleen. Is it named something particular? I’d really love to watch it.
On Myspleen, it should be listed under ‘Harmy’s Return of the Jedi Working Copy v2.0’
Not to derail the discussion, but is there a thread here that specifies how to calibrate an LCD tv for those of us planning to marathon the OT? I was able to successfully burn SW 2.5 and Empire 2.0 without any coasters so far and then I’m gonna have the Jedi workprint ready alongside them so I figure we might as well know these things for whom it may concern. 😄
Did you try the font cache method beforehand or is it a different error altogether? Almost every time I finish muxing one of them and go for another, I get a “can’t read stream type” error and there’s a terminal command that fixes that problem.
When Chewbacca blasts the cameras out in the detention cell, the amount of sound effects used to convey that is overload compared to the original version audio-wise. Did you need shots of something like that?
Donated what I could, you've given back so much to us that it's only natural for us to aid you however we can. :)
Does anyone still want those samples? I still have them in tact, I haven't responded lately since my harddrive crashed and I was worried that I had lost everything in it, but it's all been recovered safe and sound now.
Maybe all this talk of making a menu is a fine time to update the cover art on the case/disc? I don't mind if that topic is better off on the DVD covers section of the site too, just wondering if there's any progress with that too.
If the links are dead, here they are now all bundled in 1 place in all that Super8 glory. http://we.tl/131egTXbmU
The menus do look good, but in all honesty if we're going for authenticity in presenting the original theatrical version as close as possible, then wouldn't it make sense to not use "Despecilized Version" on the main menu screen and just save that for the bonus features?
You're welcome, death star attack run in all that Super 8 goodness.
This may have been answered already in the thread, but what exactly is going to happen to this print? It's in good hands for sure, but is there a way to use this as a reference or do we not have the proper tools/technology to work with this similar to what team negative is doing for the 35mm print?
Impressive nonetheless to seamlessly tribute all of the collective efforts that went into this cohesively in a manner which takes complicated work and blends it all in a nicely wrapped package of goodness full of gratitude and dedication.
There's no fair way to indicate what they want since most people that comfortably choose the official release probably aren't informed of the options they can pick from outside of what's commercially available in front of them or don't bother thinking this far into it only looking at the debate as entirely superficial compared to what they get a kick out of.
I can't imagine anyone that would side with the official release after witnessing what we've seen here except for ya know, G.L.

Normally I would be wary about any edit that used either the 2004 or 2011 video since the colors were so screwed up. But after reading more on the first page about how various sources were used (including 1997) and it was color corrected, I'm very impressed.
Is there a section where you have screenshot comparisons or examples of the differences or how you undid the SE shots. For example did you use any early VHS/LD captures as a guide to how the colors might have looked before the film faded as much?
I had heard about this edit before but I never really read this thread until today and I certainly don't want to read through the whole thing. (sorry don't have time.)
Pretty sure this is what you're looking for as reference while 2.1 serves as the benchmark for how far along progress has been made since then.

Why is it that just cause someones got a diffrent opinion hes automatically a troll huh. maybe I just think the old Disco Wars movies are out dated. is this how you traet all new guys! this place is a dump full of dumpter divers!! i woudn't take the recrapified edition if someone gave it to me with $ 100 bonus!
If you want to be treated respectfully fine, but then what floats your boat or constitutes something that isn't "crap" or "dated"? It's one thing to say you don't prefer something this way, but taking a dump over what we love here as if what we're doing is wrong won't go unnoticed so sorry if you're offended by something no one asked you to be a part of.
Putting Yoda on it would be a nice touch just like it was back in the day, who else to choose from is up to anybody really from Luke or one of the Ewoks. Definitely looking forward to seeing these covers finished and ready to go from what we're seeing so far.
