A Future For Futurama?

On the other hand, I have no doubt that those annoying kids who can't accept that Teen Titans is cancelled will cite this as evidence the show can return despite it's relatively minor popularity.

Didn't you used to have a Save the Teen Titans banner in your sig?

What I disagree with is that, even after they put down the film idea, Disney still says, "Here, we'll give you $60 million anyway, and you can make this movie however you want!" But he still breaks away because he can't work for those who doubt him?! They believe enough to give him $60 million and creative control! I don't like to stand up for Lucas, but he's a good example here for once. Nobody believed in Star Wars except for Alan Ladd, Jr., but Lucas didn't go, "Um, excuse me. If the board of directors doesn't believe in this movie, I'm just not going to make it. Take that!" They would have been like, "Okay, good. We didn't want to do it in the first place!" Prima donna...

ESB Scene Using Kenner Toys!
Time
Hehe, that was fun. When I was a kid, I used to use my figures to act out the movies while simultaneously watching them. And, of course, every time I'd do it, I'd have more and more figures and different variations on the same characters. When I first started, I only had most of the original '95 releases with Obi-Wan, Darth Vader, farmboy Luke, black vest Han, R2, Chewbacca, and 3PO to perform all the movies with. Eventually, I'd have about 60 figures to work with. It makes me kind of sad that I never have the motivation to do this anymore! But it took a lot of preparation. I had to sift through all my figures and pick out all the figures and weapons I know I'd have to use.

I'm getting a bit self-indulgent here, but that was a lot of fun to watch. I kinda wish they'd kept the original movie audio in there. That would have been even better. The midi versions of the score reminded me of Donkey Kong Country 2 for some reason.

What's that? It was Anakin's powerlust that made him switch? NO IT WASN'T. Didn't you see the movie? "I will do whatever you ask, just help me save Padme's life. I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT HER." It's not about powerlust, it's about saving Padme. And the Emperor says, point blank, that he can't. END OF STORY.

You just tapped into another one of the, if not the core, reason that ROTS originally didn't do it for me, not even in theatres. And it's the fact that George, even though claiming in interviews that it was his lust for power, decided to make Anakin much more sympathetic (apparently) by making him do the wrong thing for the right reasons. "Don't blame Anakin," George would say. "He's the hero of the Star Wars universe. He was just trying to save his wife. He did it all for love." Gag. Blech. I always hated that. Like you said, it was definitely compelling enough motivation to get him to that point, but once that point's been reached, then there's no reason for him to stay and continue down that path!

And then, just to try to establish some sense of continuity, they just randomly have Vader bring up the power thing when he's trying to woo Padme to his evil chambers! But I couldn't buy it for a second, because it just seemed totally random. Obi-Wan's, "Your arrogance and your lust for power have already done that," was a line that I admit was chilling... out of context. But then you can't help but think, "I've never really seen this arrogance or lust for power. Up until now in this movie, he's been sort of trembling and crying and regretting his bad decisions." I just don't get it.

Watched ROTS on HBO, UGGGH!

I hate it when people claim it's all in line with Obi-Wan's cover-up to Luke. Yeah, right. As if there's any real threat to national security to admit, "Yeah, I know that little domed guy and that gold guy." I mean, that would be like listening to Leia's message and have Obi-Wan say to Luke, "I-I-I didn't know her father. I don't know what she's talking about. Clone Wars? What are those?" And then to himself, "Phew, glad I covered that up. Now Luke will never find out about his father."

The simple solution: not have the droids in the PT. They don't belong. Nothing feels more forced in all the prequels than the inclusion of R2 and 3PO. And I love how Lucas claims all the time that characters don't just wander into a story. Well, they certainly wandered into the prequels and never left!

Yes, BTTF2 was a visual tour de force! It's still amazing today! I would love to get my hands on one of those models! And of course there was the pioneering Vista Glide camera that ILM made that allowed the same actor to appear as different characters or different versions of characters in the same scene without a static camera or a very obvious matte break. Genius!

The only thing that bugs me is that, on the DVD, I can see the garbage matte of Biff's Pleasure Paradise. Don't get me wrong! I don't want it removed! Of course, I don't have to worry about Zemeckis doing that, thankfully. But it's one of those things that you can go your whole life without noticing, and then, when it just pops out at you one day, you can never not notice it!

Yeah, I must admit that's quite irritating. All those mindless girls who flocked to the prequels because, "OMG, Hayden is just so adorable!" really pissed me off. I know I've mentioned this before, but when TPM came out, there was this commercial advertising Star Wars mechandising where this kid went to school for the first time and equated it to Anakin leaving his mother. And a bunch of references were made to how he should be like Anakin. I couldn't believe it! This is Darth Vader! I was thinking. He's going to grow up and murder people! And you're encouraging your kids to emulate him?!

By the way, I think Darth-Adroit's post is spot on. Way to nail down our crappy modern society.

The only thing that irritates me is that somehow Padme lost the will to live, but her last words were, "There is good in him." What the hell?! If she believes that, then how does that justify losing the will to live? That's hope! The whole point of her losing the will to live, as I understand it, is because she lost Anakin, who meant everything in the world to her. But if she believes there's still good in him, then what the hell's the point? That's always bothered me. It makes no sense.

Please don't be afraid to take issue with my statements, unlike other websites I welcome someone who has a legitimate beef with me. Now if this were TF.n, I would be banned right now. Please anyone who disagrees, I am game, that is what this is all about, not to agree 100% of the time.

It's not that I was afraid. It's just that I generally see eye to eye with you on everything on these boards, so it's weird for me to have a "legitimate beef" with one of your viewpoints. But at least we can discuss like civilized human beings unlike some other boards.
