ACTUALLY, THERE ARE SCENES ON THE CUTTING ROOM FLOOR THAT WILL NEVER BE SEEN. ROBIN WAS INTENDED TO BE IN THE MOVIE. MARLON WAYANS WAS CAST AS ROBIN. HE'S A KID/TEENAGER THAT'S LIVING ON THE STREETS OF GOTHAM. HE SEES BATMAN CRASS THE BATBULLIT. IT CATCHES FIRE TRAPPING BATMAN INSIDE. "ROBIN" RESCUES BATMAN. ALFRED PICKS THEM UP, AND "ROBIN" TELLS BATMAN ABOUT HOW HIS DAD WAS INTO DRUGS AND WOULD BEAT HIM. BRUCE DECIDES TO TAKE HIM IN. AT ONE POINT BRUCE GOES DOWN INTO THE BATCAVE AND HE SEES "ROBIN" REBUILDING THE BATMOBILE.

RUMORS LEAKED ABOUT THIS SUBPLOT. THERE WAS SOME MAJOR BACKLASH FROM THE FANS. THEY WERE UPSET THAT THERE WAS A BLACK ROBIN. SO, THE STUDIO MADE BURTON CUT OUT ALL OF THE ROBIN FOOTAGE FROM THE FILM. BURTON HAD TO DO A PICK UP SHOOT. THAT SHOT WAS THE "HOW DO WE FIX THE BATMOBILE" SCENE.

That stuff was actually shot? I thought that was from the original aborted Sam Hamm script that was soon replaced by the final one. I knew that Marlon Wayans had been cast, but I'd always heard there was never anything from that script actually shot.

Holy shit, that's weird. I just dreamed about the Burton Batmobile last night (could be because I saw Sweeney Todd last night and that brought my Burton subconscious out...), specifically the Batmissile part from Batman Returns. I mean, it was the same Batmobile in that movie as in the first, but it just had a new function. Honestly, as much as I liked that first Batmobile it didn't really bother me when they changed it in Forever. It actually makes sense. Alfred even has a line in Returns saying how difficult it will be for them to fix the current Batmobile. "It's not as if we can take it to any Joe's Body Shop." So they got a new one. Makes sense to me.

Video Games - a general discussion thread

Really? I actually love Super Mario Bros. 2 despite the fact that it's not an actual Mario game. Seeing speed throughs on YouTube where a guy beat it in 12 minutes have really gotten me to go back and appreciate all the characters in the game I didn't use as a kid... namely, everyone who's not the Princess. Luigi and Toad rock in that game.

And as for Galaxy, yeah, I got it for Christmas, and it's great! Hands down the best 3-D Mario game of the bunch. But some of those hidden stars have me scratching my head. Luigi says I've missed one in the Good Egg Galaxy, but I sure as hell can't figure it out.

But I did have a thought that kinda creeped me out a bit. Super Mario 64 is eleven years old now. That means it's 11 years older than Super Mario Galaxy. Well, Super Mario 64 is also eleven years older than Super Mario Bros. There has been as much time in between the original Super Mario Bros. and the game that brought the series into 3-D as there is between that game and the latest game in the series. For some reason, that makes me raise an eyebrow.

Yeah, hopefully I didn't come across as a holier than thou know it all. I have to admit it's a problem I sometimes have with DB, especially when all my friends are dubbies who have no idea what's really going on...

I hear ya, kev. But at least most of Viz's work is accurate, and (if you have first editions of the Shonen Jump versions) a good two-thirds of the series at least is totally uncensored in nearly every way. And Viz did a much better job than FUNimation did its dub of the anime. That's totally unwatchable. At least Viz translated most of the characters' names accurately. Since I'm aware of what Viz's changes are, I can just read "Mr. Satan" in place of where Viz writes "Hercule" with no problem. With the dub of the anime, it's simply impossible to tune out every bit of audio and still be watching the show.

Just made a small correction there since there is no Dragon Ball Z manga. The whole series is simply Dragon Ball. The Z is an anime distinction (carried over to Viz's translation of the manga), and since you think the anime sucks, I doubt it's something you want to reference, motti. ^_~ I somewhat agree with you. I don't hate the anime. I enjoy the voices and music (and, of course, I must specify I'm talking about the original version). It's just a lot of the filler and padding that completely destroy the pacing and cause much derision from fans and non-fans alike. So, yeah, that's irritating. But there are some moments in the manga, in my opinion, where it seems like Toriyama would leave things purposely vague or sparse for the sole purpose of having filler added in later (Saiya-jin Saga, I'm looking at you).

Well, this movie certainly has one thing going for it that the prequels didn't... the original characters. Well, Indy at least, and that's something. True, the prequels did arouse our excitement at seeing a new Star Wars on the big screen, but how cool would it have been to see Luke and company in action again? I was three when Last Crusade came out, so I've never gotten to see that character in a movie theatre before. This movie may be bollocks (not "the bollocks" or whatever the good phrase was), but I am certainly excited at the moment at least to think of seeing Indy on the big screen.

Yeah, no kidding. I was gonna say you looked quite older as well, as you did look quite young in other ones you've shown. I don't know... maybe it's the sunglasses. If you have a younger-looking face, that might be covering it up. Dayv? What about Nanner? How old did you think he looked?

Actually, logic would dictate bringing in George Lazenby, wouldn't it? ^_~

I would have said Lazenby, but he was just a one shot deal, and Connery got the role back after Lazenby, then ultimately lost it to Moore. I think Moore was the one Connery was competing with when he starred in Never Say Never Again *shudder*. So I figured Moore was the better choice. Neither one would make a very good Henry though.

I was pretty much just joking as I'm sure you were, but I thought I'd chime back in to say that you're right. Roger Moore was still the current Bond when Never Say Never Again *lackofshudderbecauseIactuallyrememberenjoyingthatmovie* came out. Kind of a Battle of the Aging Bonds, I guess.
