Moth3r, if it makes you feel any better, I just got myself snipped a few months ago. In fact, I'm due to give a "sample" to see how low my count is (you have to wait for 3 months and 20 ejaculations.)

It's not too bad - took about 15 minutes.

Are you talking about the vasectomy or the 20 ejaculations? ^_~

Well, I have no idea about that, but you said you wanted to do import games (although I don't know if you're right about the NES2 being able to play Famicom games), and I was just pointing out that there are options to be able to do that with AV, although not with the NES2, sadly (unless there is some way to convert it that I don't know about). As a side note, I was pointing out the slight humor in how many different configurations in which it came out (although only the NES had both options).

Peter Jackson evidently IS returning for The Hobbit...sort of...

I would never go so far as to say that films ruin books since they are still two separate entities. I do see your point, though. Films are unable to perfectly capture the essence of a book, and in some ways the reverse is true. I always recommend reading the book first if the book is the original source because, like you said, the film will influence your perception of the book if you see it first.

Well, I certainly hope I can say that about my PS2 20 years from now, but seeing as how I've been getting DREs for years now... eh. But, yeah, I was referring to my original NES. And thanks for the tips, but I already knew about that. I've always thought that maybe I'll do that someday, but so far my time-tested method that I've been using since I was little still works: don't stick the game pak in all the way, just enough so that it bumps up against the edge of the console when you push it down. I mean, my NES still works quite well, it's just somewhat finicky, especially with my copy of Super Mario Bros. 2. I don't know why, but as soon as my aunt used the Official NES Cleaning Kit on it, it worked horribly. I've never trusted that thing since.

My personal favorite has to be mine and YIYF's competition to reach Jedi Master status first, and we ended up getting it one right after the other (with a Shimraa post in between).
Yeah, that was fun.

Yeah, but it wasn't nearly as fun running unopposed to the Council. You didn't hold up your end of the bargain, buddy! ^_~

Yeah, all the Mario RPG series are great. In fact, I'm in the middle of simultaneously playing two of them: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Both of them I definitely recommend. Both are funny as hell. The paper motif in the Paper Mario games is really charming and the battle system really involving (making even stronger use of timing hits than Super Mario RPG). Mario & Luigi is just hilarious, especially the way Luigi is the butt of every joke. And for me, growing up during the Mario cartoons, Mario & Luigi is the closest I've ever felt to actually playing the cartoon with both Mario Bros. working together (and actually occasionally doing some plumbing work). Oh, and the Geno doll makes a cameo appearance in Mario & Luigi. My only regret is that there has never been (and probably never will be) a true sequel to the original Mario RPG. One of my favorite games of all time.

And, Chalts, I always thought about repurchasing Yoshi's Island for the GBA (as I have every other Mario Advance game), but I absolutely cannot stand Yoshi's new voice (I say new, but it's about ten years old now), and it would probably drive me crazy to have to hear him that much. Did it bother you at all?

Personally, I agree. I always loved the game and still do and was quite surprised to hear anything negative of it. But I've still always regarded SMB3 as my favorite, even though SMW provides such a greater degree of freedom and exploration than had been seen in its predecessors. But I actually liked Yoshi's Island a lot as well. I don't think beating it is frustrating. Trying to get 100 on every level... that's frustrating, especially in terms of stars, since one little mistake will knock you down a peg.

Part of me has to wonder, though, if Sunshine has developed something of the same reputation as Super Mario World sometimes gets (although much less now) following a hugely innovative game. Super Mario World was criticized for not pushing it much farther than its universally renowned predecessor, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Miyamoto states that he wishes he'd gotten to do more with it... that he felt rushed, and that it wasn't as good a game as he thought it could have been. Of course, most people find it a game of high regard, and I honestly don't see anything lacking in it at all. But those statements seem to be echoed quite a bit in Sunshine, following the highly revolutionary SM64, with similar comments from Miyamoto. I guess time will tell how Sunshine will be viewed in the future, although I honestly don't see it as ever being held as highly as SMW is.

But I've never played either Jak and Dakster or Ratchet and Clank, so, sadly, I really can't relate to those statements.

Well, I think the main reason people complained about Wind Waker was because of its drastically changed graphical style, but once they played it, they started to like it. I embarrassingly remember that was the way it was for me. I think the main reason people complained about Sunshine was, as the game magazines put it, a lack of innovation. To them, it just didn't push much farther than Mario 64 (except in terms of graphics, which I think are excellent).

I say definitely go for it. It's not the best game in the franchise, but it certainly does have some fun moments. Actually, the worst part of the game is the voice acting. Peach sounds so ditzy and annoying you just want to kill her, and Bowser is just a disaster. Thankfully, for Galaxy, they remedied this by not having the characters speak much at all. But enough about that. Um, let's see. It's been a few years since the last time I played it. Well, it's so far the only 3D Super Mario title that lets you ride a Yoshi, so that's saying something. The environments are just beautiful. I love the tropical look of this game, although, and I don't find it a problem, I've heard people complain that, since it does take place on a tropical island, the levels are almost totally limited to beach-type environments. I don't care what some people say. I enjoyed using FLUDD. And there are some levels that take you to platforming segments very similar to the 2D games, an element that would become more common in Galaxy. But, yeah, you should definitely get it.
