But I do imagine that we will see R2-D2 having the stolen plans uploaded to his memory.

In fact this is what Leia does in the opening scene of ANH. Leia has the plan when the movie begins, she uploads them into R2 after having recording her message to Ben.

Handsome

Jokes aside, I do think we’ll see the plans handed off to Leia at the end. We won’t see her, but the audience will know who it is.

OR … do you think it’s possible they actually use the orignal Leia footage (since this is all Lucasfilm anyway) digitally enhanced to high quality, to be able to actually use it in the film? (if not- I think they should!) Wouldn’t that be amazing, using original Star Wars footage in this new movie?!

You mean rotoscope Carrie in ANH and put the footage in RO? No way. It would pull me right out of the film to see recycled footage.

Really? Oh not for me - to me it would pull me more into this movie, seeing Leia as we all know her, actually in this movie. While I do hope they do this, I doubt it will actually happen.

It’s interesting that black and white tones are largely in reverse of the first film.
The main antagonist is dressed in white and Jyn’s highest authority (someone she will have friction with presumably) also wears white, The opposite of Vader and the Emperor.
The bulk of the rebels and some troopers are dressed in black (the Han, Luke, Leia and most of the troopers were dressed in white).
Part of me wishes we saw this struggle from an Imperial perspective (like the Tie-Fighter games) where the Rebels are the dangerous terrorists and the Empire is merely the successor to the heroism that won the Clone Wars.

I for one love the maker’s traditional outlook, harkening back to the movie’s he grew up on. White standing for good, black for evil, and taking the point of view from the “good guys” perspective. After all, the maker wanted a modern movie that brought back tradional good vs. evil values, at a time (the mid 70s) when things had already begun to get blurred. I think it gives the movie-goer an overall satisfying feeling when good triumphs evil. (deep down, we all want things to turn out as we know they should)
I’m sure your idea for an Imperial perspective would be great (and believe me, I love Imperial things generally more than Rebel - I’m a stormtrooper nut, love the tie fighter above all ships, love the royal guard, ect.) but overall I want the good guys to prevail. I do admit some of the black for evil, white for good, lines were crossed even from the original Star Wars (I can’t seem to get myself to call it a new hope, to me, it’ll always be just Star Wars, as that is what it was when it came out in 77 when I was 13 yr.s old) - a good example being the stormtroopers.

Info: Anyone else considering TFA figures?
Time

I'm like you, everything comes out of the box! I want to be able to pose them and create groups of figures standing together- so keeping them in the box won't do! Although I'm buying mostly black series, I did pre-order the special 3 3/4" trooper set from amazon. It's not supposed to ship till the end of the year though- but it's worth the wait. I've recently bought a few new 3 3/4" order trooper/vehicle things, so thought the exclusive trooper set would be a good compliment to those.

I ad almost the opposite situation. Went in for a BB-8 & Rey figure, and saw only a Kylo! (which I didn't want) I went to the force friday midnight opening on thursday night, at a local toys r us. I was about 40 people back from the front of the line, maybe less. By the time I got in there were no black series left (although people standing around said there were only 4 of them!) Wow- talk about not being prepared for the mayhem. Anyway, once I discovered that I wasn't getting a BB-8/Rey, I quickly went to amazon while standing in the store and ordered it there. Had it in 2 days.

Wait- there's an IG-88 black series?!

Although we all obviously love & prefer the original trilogy (otherwise why would we be here?!) - I’m wondering if anyone else is considering buying any force awakens figures?

me- I’ll probably get the Rey & BB-8 black series combo. I only just decided this after watching a little video review clip that shows BB’s articulation. Yes his head does move a bit, not able to move all over the base ball, but at least it’s somewhat pose-able.

I wouldn't worry about it...nothing can be worst than PM and AOTC...EVER

I've gotten plenty of PMs that were better than ROTS.

To be fair, most of us thought before seeing Episode I that George Lucas couldn't make anything worse than Howard the Duck.

I had totally forgotten about the existance of Howard the Duck, until now! (and was a better person for it!)

So Star Trek 2009 and Into Darkness never happened?

Also, Mission Impossible 3 and Super 8 have a pretty clear definition of who are the good guys and who are the bad guys.

uggg ... I'm a SWs guy, definitely not a trekie. Haven't even seen those trek films. (probably never will)

I've actually not seen super 8 either, and have become bored with the M.I. series. (which I definitely wouldn't call classics in any sense) So I guess I can't comment on any of your examples.

To which of his movies are you referring then, when you haven't seen half of what he's done? How can you say he never directed a sci-fi movie when he made three of them?

Actually, I never said Abrams never directed a sci-fi movie. Not sure where that came from. Oh well, to each their own opinion when it comes to either liking or disliking ST. This is a SWs forum anyway, and that's what I'm into.

One thing I'm hoping Abrams "replicates" from the new hope, is the slight peppering of humor throughout the film. Think about the little bits of humor spread lightly here and there: between R2 & C3, between Han and Chewie, Leia and Han, and I'm sure other relationships I can't think of at the moment. One fear of mine (hopefully I'm worrying for nothing) is that Abrams makes this a totally serious film throughout. Sure it will probably be awesome even if that were the case, but if he takes a cue from his predecessor, I think adding a little humor (sparingly) here and there will make it that much better.

Speculation as to when opening night (not the special super-preview at select cities) tix for TFA will be sold be fandango?

What I'm curious to know is when people will prefer to see it? I was considering the usual 7pm "sneak preview" on the 17th, but I want to see it with a crowd as well. Which does better - the day before or opening night?

I think any of the very early showings of this film will have a crowd and line up and people in costumes and all. But you've gotten my hopes up for the idea of not only seeing it at 7pm on a Thursday, but seeing it without all the madness of fans. :P

That's half the fun of it, when there's people in line in costume and all! If my local theater actually shows it around 7pm as a sneak preview, I will definitely try to get tix for that one. (I know this is gonna be the type of scenario where tix sell out in 5 mins or so!)

Yes, the person who sent in the scoop to makingstarwars said he heard that from two different theater managers.

I actually read this as well, from a couple different sources, when I google'd it last night. I also signed up for the fandango alert thing, so "hopefully" they will actually alert people when the tix go on sale.

No the only thing to decide- should I see the standard film or the 3D version? I generally prefer the standard- although with this one I'm not sure what to do.

it's been years since I actually needed to get tickets for an opening more than a few hours in advance (I think the last time was The Dark Knight back in '08), but I don't want to take any chances with this one.

Not a movie, but a couple years ago I pre-ordered tickets to the Doctor Who 50th which showed in a few theaters. Sold out in a couple of minutes. Other than that, not sure that I ever did.

I think I signed up for an alert from Fandango about TFA, but the site does nothing to confirm that the request was sent, so who knows. If I don't see it on opening night, but later that weekend, that's fine. I'll just live without internet for a couple days.

Hmmm, good info ..... the whole "alert" thing. I'll have to check out fandango again to see if I can sign up for that. I suppose it's also worth inquiring directly with humans at the local cinema as well. It's "possible" that they could be selling tickets the same day as fandango, or maybe even earlier.

Does anyone know how early you will be able to go online for tix to the regular opening night (the 18th) for TFA? considering this will be the biggest movie for the Christmas season (at least, if not months) does anyone know if places like fandango might allow tix to go on sale even earlier than normal? I'm not even sure what the standard time is for online tix to go on sale before a movie, maybe a week before?

Those of us who hate spoilers absolutely must go to the first possible show (besides the obvious reason of being obsessed with SW) to avoid hearing spoilers from countless sources. (Online news sound-bite outlets such as yahoo news, overhearing people talking, radio, etc.)

I suspect securing tix for the first show will be a bit of a challenge.

Info: Good deals right now: 31" clone shock trooper, and 6" black series figures
Time

Many of you may be aware of one or both of these deals, but in the event some of you are not - I thought I’d post here. So Target online has the 31" shock trooper on clearance for 17 bucks, normally 30. I got one myself last week- love it. Only drawback is there is no articulation at the ankles or elbows, but still looks great.

Walgreens carries “some” black series 6" figures, although it varies from store to store. I popped into a few different Walgreens and it seems all 6" figures are priced at 20 bucks, regardless of the rarity of them. Even figures that Amazon will list at 30, can be found for 20 at Walgreens. It’s hit-or-miss with each store though- most stores seem to only have 2 or 3 different figures.

secrethistoryofstarwars.com gone
Time

Newbie to this forum here ..... thought I'd check out the original site,as supposedly after july it would be back and better than ever. Just went to it and at that address (secrethistoryofstarwars.com) I found a page filled with chinese (I assume, could be japanese for all I know!) writing and a bird cage! Very strange- I could see if it were all still star wars but in a different language, but a bird cage?!!
