I'm a long time lurker, first time poster and I think you guys rock.  All Lucas has to do is put out a high quality version of the original films without all the digital crap and revisions and the entire controversy pretty much goes away forever and if he wants to replace Luke with freakin' Jar Jar Binks then he can have at it.  This wouldn't even necessarily require much in the way of effort or expense on his part.  I think that the original Star Wars flicks deserve as much respect and as loving a preservation as any great pieces of cinema out there.  It's a damned shame that George Lucas does not agree.  As a Gen Xer , those movies are a huge chunk of my formative years, but when I tried to start to watch the GOUT discs a couple of weeks back I got frustrated because I couldn't quite get the settings right between my DVD player and and TV to make them look OK so I ended up watching the 2004 versions of Star Wars and Empire instead.  I haven't done Jedi yet, but that's the most screwed up of the 2004 versions compared to the original so I think I'm going to have to go GOUT on that one.
