I am excited about the digital download version. I'm gonna wait until other people make the decision to buy. I just hope it's an actual audiophile release, and not a (increase the volume and the bass) that seems to be the norm in reissues.

I was totally thrilled when I heard the news three weeks ago too, and what you're saying exactly what I also intend to do... Only someone's gotta get them first and review them... and I wish it were someone objective who has the right equipment to figure out if the quality is remarkably improved or if it's just the CD versions (of which only 'Star Wars' is pretty good quality while 'Empire' is not that good and 'Jedi' is really bad).

And I don't even know a site that reviews High Resolution (soundtrack) albums... does anyone know a trustworthy site for that?

Hey there!

So Sony has announced a new Vinyl Collection of all the Star Wars soundtracks as well as a 24bit/196kHz Digital Download version for January...

I wonder how they could sound...? Haven't the 'The Empire Strikes Back' tapes been severely damaged when they did the Anthology soundtrack set in 1993? Could other sources have been found?
Or is it just gonna be nice packages for the same mixed bag they delivered with the Sony Classical CD sets?

Any thoughts?
