These rumors just keep flying, but still nothing concrete. Iā€™m just finding it hard to get my damned hopes up. Iā€™d download Harmy, but Iā€™m scared of getting arrested.

You wont get arrested. The person who shared it would be more likely to get arrested. Iā€™ve downloaded a ton of torrents over the years and never had an issue.

As long as you can prove youā€™ve bought the products available then there is nothing they can do. Harryā€™s versions are well worth it. Excellent copies. Letā€™s face it if they re released the original versions Iā€™d take the day off & buy it the moment it came out. So the ball is in their court so to say. These fan versions are now part of the legacy so you shouldnā€™t deny yourself a piece of history.

If you guys are trusting Disney to do anything right, I think youā€™re going to be sadly mistaken.

Are you able to make any posts that donā€™t complain about TFA or RO?

That post had nothing to do with TFA or RO. It was about Disney not releasing the OOT after nearly 5 years.

They will release something in 2017. The 40th anniversary is too big a cash cow to ignore. It just has to include an original theatrical cut cleaned up. There is a 4K version out there as the library of congress made a copy. Lucas films just stopped them from showing it so far.

Iā€™m certain weā€™ll get something for the 40th anniversary. They wonā€™t let such an occasion go unacknowledged. And with all the 4K UHD discs coming out lately, theyā€™ll have to put that out eventually too so itā€™s perfect timing. I would bet money that the OUT will be released, simply because they know damn well the fans will not be pleased if they try to put out just the SE yet again without George even involved. And because sites like this are cutting into Disneyā€™s profits; yes, I know itā€™s a niche site and yes, I know weā€™re supposed to own the Blu-ray, but major publications have written about it and thereā€™s no doubt plenty of people who download Despecialized without paying Disney a cent. Theyā€™ll want to rectify that just like the GOUT put a stop to laserdisc bootlegs.

Unfortunately weā€™re probably stuck with the SE forever though, even if it comes with the OUT, simply because the SE will have been the standard in one form or another for literally exactly as long as the original was. That means a generation or two grew up on it. For their sake, it would be nice if they also restored the 97 SE. Which might be easier; if it is true that the negatives are the 97 SE, it should be no problem whatsoever to throw that initial scan on as a bonus even if they alter it to the 2011 version for the standard release.

My ideal would be for them to hybrid it all together with branching: Scan the 97 negative and use it as the base, ā€œdespecializeā€ it for the OUT and ā€œrespecializeā€ it for the 2011 SE. Then stick it all on one disc and allow viewers to seamlessly select which version to watch, using the same footage for everything except for where scenes differ. This assumes of course that they get the colors and everything down perfectly for all versions, which would be pretty sweet. And since both the colors and audio of the 97 SE are unanimously praised around here, I donā€™t think people could complain too much if it was used as the base everything else was built around.

Apologies to the previous poster. I think I messed up his post. Just getting used to this forum.

I totally agree. ROTS is a complete mess. TPM has its classic moments but falls short & for all its faults Iā€™ve always enjoyed AOTC.

Yeah, as Iā€™ve learned in this past month, TPM seems to be regarded as the best of the PT round these parts. But I think the general consensus on the inter webs is that ROTS is superior (an opinion I share).

Yeah, consensus on the web seems to be that not only is ROTS the best prequel, but that itā€™s also actually a good movie.

I think theyā€™re all terrible, but itā€™s hard to rank them. I hadnā€™t seen them in a couple years, but decided to watch them a couple months ago.

I watched them in reverse order for some reason- I had been wondering about something that happened in the intro to ROTS, so I decided to watch it. Then it got me thinking about stuff in AOTC so I watched that, then I figured, might as well watch TPM to complete the experience.

I thought ROTS was terrible. I thought AOTC was slightly better. When it came time to watch TPM I thought, ā€œok, this is the one I always thought was the best prequel.ā€

I think I liked it less than AOTC, but it was extremely close.

So yeahā€¦ as of right now, as crazy as it sounds, I might rank the prequels:

AOTC
TPM
ROTS

I could watch them again to really figure it outā€¦ but I donā€™t want to punish myself like that.

For the record, I rank the rest of the movies:

 1. ANH
 2. ESB
 3. ROTJ
 4. TFA

Itā€™s possible that TFA might overtake ROTJ for me. Iā€™ll see once Iā€™ve had it on blu ray for a few months.

Is a Star Wars movie your favorite movie?

I can agree with this. Though Star Wars was 1 of the first films I saw at the cinema so it probably means more to me than any other film.

Nah. I have a list of the top ten movies I consider the best, and Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back are on the lower half of that list. The original trilogy are some of my favourite movies, but none are number one.
