Of the Sail Barge song? If there's a full length track, it now makes even less sense as to why it wasen't on the album.

Here's the version I would have created, had I been the album's producer. What I did was I made sure every track that was ever in the film was included as well as the all the alternate versions that were revealed on previous issues that related to Jedi.

The whole reason the song was changed was most likely because Lucas wanted to show off some CGI with Joh Yowza and the new Sy Snootles. While they’re impressive CGI creations in themselves, they don’t belong in a 1983 film (The Hensonesque puppets/muppets and costumes belong in that era), and neither does Jedi Rocks, which as mentioned before, isn’t even John Williams’ work.

I also (as I started a thread on its own about) can’t stand the way the RTJ soundtrack album also has those songs replaced. If you’re going to include alternate versions of tracks (Sail Barge Assault) that weren’t ever in the film, why not include material that “once was”?

Well, I don’t own any previous releases, and there’s no way I could now unless I get them used. Also, it isn’t just about owning the tracks themselves, I just wondered why they can’t have one definitive release that covers all the versions of the film when it could all fit on a two disc set. Also, keep in mind the Sail Barge song was never on any release, unlike Lapti Nek and Ewok Celebration.

Yes, that was a really good idea for a change. Heck, I’m surprised he didn’t think to do it for the SE, as it’s not necessarily prequel related. The bad part is he went overboard and added all those lines, as it really ruins the alteration. Why couldn’t they just have Ian repeat all the lines the female w/ chimp eyes emperor said?

I have to agree with Hayden’s acting. He appears to be so excited he’s in a movie that was released when he was still in diapers that he comes off looking like a massive tool. Could have been better…

The 97' and 04' releases of the New Hope album include 5 alternate takes of the Main Title/Rebel Blockade Runner number tacked onto the Binary Sunset alternate track as a bonus, creating a track that’s nearly 17 minutes long! If they could do that, I don’t see the reason why they couldn’t place all 9 of the above omissions at the end of the first disc of Jedi. I would be satisfied with just one version of Lapti Nek and Ewok Celebration, but if there’s room, why not all?

I wonder if there’s an e-mail address where I could contact Sony Classical about perhaps getting a complete Jedi soundtrack out on the shelves that covers all 3 versions of the film. Seeing how Lapti Nek and Ewok Celebration “don’t exist” and the fact that they just re-issued the album less than a month ago, such a product probably has a snowball’s chance in hell of being released.

I probably will still buy the current CD issue eventually, but it still won’t change my opinion on how the omissions damage the keepsake value.

I assume Max Rebo Band Instrumental Music is the Sail Barge song. I guess the "could not be found" means the record label coulden't obtain the original master tape. I wounder how the site knows it was 3:00 long? And what's that Unused Source Music track about?

That’s one theory that came to my mind before about the Sail Barge song. While the Cantina tracks on the Episode 4 soundtrack were complete recordings, I guess they recorded the minimum for the Sail Barge jam and what you hear in the movie is all there is to it. Even if that were so, I would be satisfied if they put it in on the soundtrack.

It’s a shame the other two tracks “don’t exist”. The lyrics in “Lapti Nek” that sounded something like “Jabba whooshey wonnga. WONGA!” cracked me up every time I heard it. I can still hear the original “Ewok Celebration” in my head right now. How could anyone forget it? While it’s bad enough the OT is in the "don't exist" state, it only makes the situation worse by the effects leaking on to one of the soundtrack albums.

Hello SW fans, I’m new here and this is my first post.

I have plenty to say about the OT/SE/DVD issue, but first I wanted to ask something about the RTJ soundtrack album.

I just bought the new 2004 CD issue of the New Hope soundtrack and a very pleased in that it is complete and the sound quality is excellent. I plan on picking up Empire and Jedi when I get the money, but there’s something that concerns me on the completeness of the Jedi album. To my understanding, the 1997 and 2004 CD issues of the New Hope and Empire soundtracks are universal, meaning that no matter what version you watch, the program on the discs remains the complete soundtrack. When looking over the Jedi soundtrack track listings for the 97 and 04 issues (same thing), I notice the same does not hold true. Just as they were in the film, “Lapti Nek” was replaced with “Jedi Rocks” and “Ewok Celebration” was replaced with “Victory Celebration”. I did research and discovered that both of the replaced songs were on the original 1983 vinyl release, and that was pretty much a highlights deal and by no means a complete soundtrack. I also found that both tracks were also available on CD at one time on a 1993 trilogy box set. The one thing I really don’t understand is the absence of the rest of the Max Rebo tracks. Where is the Sail Barge jam? Anyone who has seen the film a number of times, regardless of the version, is sure to remember it and instantly notice the omission when listening to the album. I mean, they included the Baroque Recital, so might as well include all of it if you’re going to put source music on the disk, right?

I fail to see what was going trough the compiler’s mind. I know John Williams’ score is what everyone’s in the purchase for, but why can’t we have the complete source music as well? So what is “Lapti Nek” and “Ewok Celebration” were deleted from the film, there’s plenty of space left on the disk(s) for both them and “Jedi Rocks” and “Victory Celebration”. I agree with everyone here, I can’t stand Jedi Rocks, its silly, childish and it’s almost like they threw a song and dance number into the movie. I rather it wasn’t in the film or the soundtrack at all, but as much as we all hate it, I don’t think it’s going anywhere anytime soon. As for the other Max Rebo numbers, I just don’t understand. Usually songs are omitted from soundtrack albums because of copyright issues or space, but neither is the issue here, as its all John Williams’ work. I would much rather have had all the source music that was actually in the film instead of those archival bonus tracks they did include.

I really doubt it, but does anyone know the reason(s) why?
