A question re the 2006 OT DVD versions
Time

Thanks.

So it is just the quality of the production of those 2006 releases that people have been disappointed with?

But, as far as content is concerned, those 2006 releases at least have all of the unaltered, non special edition updated effects and visuals, correct?

Prior to the 1993 laser disc releases, nothing (aside from the Episode IV and English language labels on the Death Star computers that I understand was done in 1981) has been done to the original theatrical editions that these 2006 Dvd’s wouldn’t reflect?

A question re the 2006 OT DVD versions
Time

I’m new here, so sorry if the topic I’m bringing up has been discussed at length here already. I tried searching for a thread to add to, but couldn’t find one that seemed fitting enough.

My question is, what are the major concerns with the 2006 DVD releases of the Orignial Theatrical Editions? I’m speaking of the ones that were released in the 2disc sets where disc one was yet another release of the 2004 DVD Special Editions, and the 2nd Bonus disc was the Original Theatre versions.

There is much talk about how the original versions aren’t available, and I understand that there isn’t a blu-ray or digital release of the OT theatrical editions, but aren’t these DVD’s very close in content to what we could possibly expect should the OT theatrical editions actually get modern format release?

What was it about these particular DVD’s that just didn’t suffice for a satisfying original theatrical release for fans?
